Due to an amazing sale that I just couldn't pass up yesterday at the local hobby shop, I picked up the new-ish E-Flite 1.2m Corsair. She's beautiful!

The funny things about this Corsair are:
  • I prefer the F4U4 over the others, which this one is.
  • I love the squadron markings for this Marine training squadron and have always wanted to model a Corsair from this squadron.
  • I love the colors. Green and blue? What's not to love!
  • AS3X and 1.2m are a great combination and I want to get more in this size.

I got the plane together quickly and easily; connect servo connectors for the wing, add the horizontal stabilizer, five screws total, and done! The plane feels solid, and has one of the best wing to fuselage welds I've seen in any foamie. The larger fuselage allows for ample room for the battery compartment. I won't have any trouble getting batteries in or out of this plane. The Mustang fuselage is thin and it can be cumbersome to get batteries in and our easily; not the case in the Corsair.

I look forward to maidening this plane this weekend as long as the weather cooperates. I'll probably take this one and the new Mustang out to the field if I can fit them both into the car at the same time. The one downside of these 1.2m planes is that it's more difficult to fit them into the A4. I can typically take 3 1.1m planes, but two 1.2m planes pose difficulties. We'll see and report on this Saturday.

RC Logger EYE One S - Beginner Mode Practice: #1 [Lumia 640] (0 min 55 sec)

The lady is flying her new RC Logger EYE One S for the first time in Beginner mode. She's coming from an Estes Proto-X, so she has a bit of an adjustment ahead of her. She did great though!

I'm new to a lot of this tech talk, but my friend has gotten me into action cameras. I was wondering what people think about the Revl Arc and all of the technologies/things it includes. I know it seems pricey, but from my limited knowledge it looks amazing. I also don't know about other cameras that are similar to it or that might be better though, and I was looking for some input on the subject.

RC Logger EYE One S - Sport Mode Practice #1 [Lumia 640] (1 min 46 sec)

Testing out my new RC Logger EYE One S in Sport Mode. The inclination angles are still severely limited in Sport, especially when compared to the later EYE One Xtreme. It is infinitely more flyable than in Beginner Mode, however.

I think I'm going to have to stick to Acro/Rate mode from now on with this unit.

RC Logger EYE One S - Rate/Acro Mode Practice: #2 [RunCamHD2] (6 min 21 sec)

Trying to fly the RC Logger EYE One S in Rate/Acro mode and having a bit of a hard time of it. I've only ever attempted once prior on my Dromida Ominus and my EYE One S, so this is going to be a long and slow progression for me. Completely unlike flying stabilized.

Just got two of these beast minis. One for me, one for the fiance.

They're so tiny! I put my Proto-X SLT on top to give an idea of the scale of the box. I can't wait to get it open, charged up and out to fly.

Wing joiner rods finally in now able to assemble the plane. Next steps final sanding and covering.
I keep calling this plane a Pegasus- Because I used Stan Watsons plans to build the wing and stab. But the fuselage is Dale Folkenings Dynasoar. I didnt realize this until I tried to put the wings on the fuselage. There was considerable difference in the angle of the wing at the point where it would mount on the fairing protruding from the fuselage. Another difference was the airfoil. Stans airfoil was more like a Clark Y and the airfoil on the Dynasoar fuselage was more like a Eppler 193, which was what used for the wing. The E 193 is much thinner, creating a bit of challenge in mounting the 3/8 rods at the proper angle for some dihedral. All of these little things made the project go on and on.

Clean forgot to post this build from a couple of weeks ago...
R/T for roasting tin.

Having never flown an EDF anything, a natural thought would have been to build a any sensible person would do.
So, a Nutball type shape was decided on
I grabbed the kitchen roasting tin and set about making an elongated Nutball....a bit like go faster stripes, the body of it would be stretched. It still doesn't make sense does it.

On to the shape went a brushed GWS 40mm EDF, salvaged from a crashed Kid Galaxy flying wing from circa 2009, that I bought at a seconds store.
10-15A brushed ESC, ex Harbor Freight Mustang I believe
AR6310 RX
2x 3.7g servo's
260mA Venom 2S lipo
12.6" wingspan, 17" length
RET controls
AUW 3.2oz

It was too heavy on the first flight attempts. So, off came the landing skids underneath, the other ESC was replaced by this Harbor Freight one (lightened by removing plastics and changing the wire gauge) and also the thrust tube was completely removed.
And she flew !

Jetball R/T - what the heck ? (3 min 16 sec)

It's been a while since my last update... So I figured I should follow up with the last place I've been.

As you know, FliteFest 2016 ran last week - July 14-17, with people arriving as early as the 12th.
I arrived early Wednesday, just to see what was going on. We got everything set up, and started off a bit slow for the weekend.

Surprisingly, all of the (preregistered) camping spots filled quickly, as people began to peak around Friday.

Though it did feel a bit different than the previous year, it was still a decently well rounded experience. There were a few less-than-friendly volunteers that aimed to cause a minor stir here and there, but at the same time, I was able to meet up with those I saw from the previous year, as well as from other events.

Most notably, The RC Saylors, Greg Bowles, and a few others. All of which are amazing people.

I'll have to do a photo dump later, to cover what I had time to get footage of.

On the other side of things, this is where my tandem design was given a chance to shine. I brought the original prototype, as well as the 250, 450, and 1800mm versions. I drew quite the crowd with them, especially the latter.

The 1800 turned out to be a major success. Not only drawing a crowd of hundreds of people, It struck the interest of many others.

Can anyone tell me what type this plug is called? It's for my jr x2720 and want to make some charging leads for my tx batteries, the closest plug I can find is a jst-ph but probably won't fit, when I search on Google it's just called a jr plug, not very helpfully. Pictures to follow. Any help would be great.
