Good afternoon all, i need help selecting a servo that has adequate torque and speed for my model, i have an alfa models micro p-51 mustang, the instructions recommend 3 gram servos but unlike other alfa models does not give the minimum torque requirements (does say not to use linear servos) i would like to use the lightest servos as possible, below i have put all the info i have on the control surfaces, auw of airframe etc and the servo i would like to use and also a youtube link to a video of the model, if someone can help me out with what i need, i would be very grateful

Wingspan: 460mm/18.11in. Wing area: 3.7dm2/ Weight: 65 grams/2.3oz. Motor: 7gram 2000kv brushless outrunner. Elevator: 165mm/6 1/2" width, 2mm thick at leading edge, 14 area, 6mm deflection up and down, pushrod controlled. Ailerons: 90mm/ 3 1/2" width each, 3.5mm thick at leading edge, total area 23.4, 6mm deflection, both ailerons controlled by single servo via two pushrods.

Here is the servo i was thinking of using; Tactic TSX1.9 coreless Weight: 1.9g Torque: @4.8v Speed: 0.04sec/60 degrees @ 4.8v

Here is the youtube link for flying characteristics and general speed envelope:

Using my router to the extreme !

Routed some lead formers as nose weight, some 100gr, fits nicely!

According to my estimations at least 100gr are needed to balance the plane to the targetted CG.

So why not securing it during the build, no glue required.

We are going to create a graphing script from scratch, using the widget framework to support Horus as well . Main requirements:
  1. Any source, selectable as option
  2. Fully scalable to support different lcd and widget sizes
  3. First-In-First-Out fixed timeframe drawing buffer
  4. Adjustable timeframe width with 'plus' and 'minus'
  5. Autoscale on height
  6. Reset on 'exit' and restart on 'enter'

The 1 week order delay finally ended & the journey to replace all 9 bearings began, manely rebuilding the transmission. The counter gear & the rear wheels were finally replaced.

A 13.2 miler started out super quiet & got slightly louder after 12 miles, as it was with the previous transmission rebuild. It could be more easily relubricated with WD40 to maximize the range. The evidence is the bushing inside the counter gear was causing most of the noise, since it got super hot & spun super fast.

With no payload but a speaker, headlights on, & hilly terrain, it used 2065 + 2305mAh or 331mAh/mile. A new record low consumption which could go 27 miles, but with no payload. With cold weather & no need to carry a shirt, the 27 mile range could be a realistic goal. A lion can only manetain that speed for 16 miles, so at a reduced speed with a payload, we could have a vehicle reach the end of the valley for the 1st time. The counter gear bearing must have been sucking a lot of power.

Did another 6.75 run with it. The 10mph test revealed no material improvement in steering oscillation. Noise was still reduced, but not as much as the Sandstorm. Despite headlights, 13 miles of wear on the lubrication, 3km at 10mph & a return trip with 10oz of food, it still only burned 2215mAh or 318mAh/mile.

Acquired this new nice small Hawk as a replacement for my 70mm FW F-104 missile ... The 104 flies very nicely but in the silver scheme is a bit hard to see on the landing approach when it comes toward you.

With the idea of moving my power setup from the F-104 tom the Hawk, I got just the $169 airframe ("Arf-Plus") kit :

It is a pity they don't make a similar, no frills & lightweight one, in a bigger size ~90mm

I love the way Hawks fly, this is my ninth edf one from what I can count (the first one was a Gloeckner kit with a Schwerdfeger 69mm fan) ... Too bad the larger FW offerings are either airliners (A-10) or that overcomplex F-14.

It turns out this Hawk also runs rings around my overbelled and overwhistled FW 90mm F-16 even though the latter has a very powerful JetFan / HET 700 combo in it .

Greetingz readers,

Bought an EWRF E709TM3 with FC mounting holes

First look VERY OK.

Then I did try to config the VTX to fit the default channel from my predator goggle...

And surprise...

I did believe that the number blinking after band and channel was just an error....

Then discovered on my goggle I was able to pick many frequencies sending the video signal...

As you will discover bands naming is wrong... You should refer to the frequency blinking after band and channel.

I'll buy a new one finally!!!

Have fun, go fly! (and learn from your mistakes...)
