https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...ol-transmitter ( Part A )

Now at issue is the failure of the gimbals to return to zero ..
And the fault lies entirely with the little sensor pots that fit the gimbals assembly .
In effect they are a poor / or slop fit . ( See first picture )
In a nutshell ! > The cure is to gently crush the shaft that enters the gimbals tube till its a press fit .. ( Crush the widest part , )

The 2nd thing to do is tape the outside of the sensor pot ( See 2nd picture ) to take out the slop @ the outside of the pot ..
Tape both sides ..

Tricky bit is obviously pulling the gimbals apart .

Its all relatively easy till you get to the last sensor .. The gimbals housing has a cover ...
Look for the release tabs .. Turn the gimbals assembly so the stick is down .. Gently press the stick against something and then release the tabs ( push in ) .
With the cover off you can remove the last sensor ......Continue Reading

DLG Control settings ( OpenTx ) 3 position flaps and elevator launch (1 min 11 sec)

So I worked out how to get close to the CG ..
I guess that might have been the easy part .
Next I needed to set up some more advanced control functions ..
Taranis Qx7 - IRX4+ Multi protocol module
DSM2 4ch Rx
Re the DSM2 , it might be faulty .. 1 Ch does not seem to work ( Ch3 ) So might need to order another .

So what I did ( OpenTx )

I wanted to mix functions VIA the transmitter , and the tutorials I found were all for PC programming VIA the companion software ..
So I had to teach myself how to do a 3way switch flaperon ..

The other thing I wanted to do was kill my rudder stick ( No rudder function ) .. Since this is a Ail / Elevator Bird . ( 3 servos )

Also apparently you need a launch setting for the elevator , so I had to mix a switch for that ..
My first attempt was crude and locked the elevator in a fixed position ( Obviously wrong ) ..

But I got it ..

So now my DLG should be set up ready for Chucking and fine tuning .
I have launch elevator setting and a 3 position switch for flaps ... ( high lift / landing )
For landing I may need to mix in some down elevator - But that will be way down the track ...

Ok it turned out to be a simple correction for me ...
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5pcs-Cre...53.m2749.l2649 Got me some of these , fit the Eachine VR006 almost perfectly .

So after playing around for a while , the cure seemed to be to lay the magnifying card over the existing lens on the outside .
All I had to do was cut a grove for the nose relief .
Then use a small piece of tape to hold the magnifier in place ..

And thats it ! How simple ( Bush League ) is that !

Now I can see ! ( To FPV )

Sorry !
At issue was the ability ( mine ) to close focus enough to see the screen ..
Getting a little old ...
Would love to see goggles with adjustable focus _
Any manufacturers out there ?

More HOT HUMID weather forcing me to cower behind air-conditioning ( No I am not a summer person at all ) ...
So what to do ?
The parts were here to play with the DLG .. ( So thats what I did )

My DLG is ready for some chuck tests ...

First thing was to put a battery plug on the voltage booster .
Then test for shorts and adequate output voltage .
Then fit a servo plug with the signal wire removed .
Then I had to bind the 4ch Rx ..

With the Rx bound and the test servo working , it was time to plug the Rx into the servos in the DLG ..
Now with a 4Ch Rx , I had to mix 2 channels ( 2 and 3 ) to get the ailerons working correctly ..
This can be a little tricky with OpenTx , but I got there . ( So many ways to do it wrong )

Once the functions were correct , I limited servo travel so as not to over travel the control surfaces (?)
I might still have to much ... ( from mem 519 is max )
My ailerons are 200 and my elevator is 300 .. ( If you use Open Tx you probably understand )

Anyhow .. The DLG is at a starting point , CG is close ( a few mm forward of fact specs )
Wow , you really cant put much weight in the nose at all ... ( To make Factory specified CG )...Continue Reading

Stuff has happened and stuff has arrived !

My solar power bank has been re-paneled and is outside laying in the sun catching rays .
Got stuff for the DLG , so hopefully get that CG where it needs to be .
2s balance charging board is here ...
Those magnifying bits of plastic are here .

F3 flight board .. its 1s and 2s .. I wonder if I will need higher voltage motors ?
Oh well , I will be doing some Multi meter readings and hopefully wont kill the board ...

So looks like I need a ROUND " To It "

Just working on a FuriBee H801 review at the moment ....

The following is a public service announcement !
I was on Feebay and thought about the Dumpster Brand batteries ! ( Dumpster Brand > Buy some batteries – Throw them in the dumpster cos there so bad ) We all know feebay is flooded with garbage batteries , but I find pleasure in testing them just to see how bad they are . ( Rather than how good ) Have we seen the 9800mAh batteries ? ( 18650 ) Yeah there a joke , unfortunately people are buying them and then doing things with them they should not do . So lets get on with it ! I will discharge them ( well I did ) @ 0.5A , to 3v to see how much , or how little capacity is actually in these alleged 9800mAh batteries .

I got these as a pair , and the first discharge resulted in :

Battery 1 = 518mAh discharged ( yeah > thats 518 mA )
Battery 2 = 684mAh discharged ( Jaw dropping right )

2nd Discharge :

Battery 1 = 548mAh
Battery 2 = 682mAh

Would it be fair to say these are monumentally bad . Possibly dangerous , life threatening , absolute garbage that should not be for sale anywhere ? ( Would that be fair ? )
And so endith the public service announcement !

Review was made possible by FastTech AF link

fasttech.com Non AF link

The folks at FastTech have made it possible for me to review the Lumintop SD4A and what a nice light it is . Whilst I am a real fan of the single 18650 flashlight format I also find AA lights very interesting . Modern technology makes it possible for the average Joe Six Pack ( non flashlight enthusiast ) to safely enjoy powerful flashlights and the SD4A is certainly powerful . There is only one thing I can can complain about and that's the power output > it's too high !

The build quality is really excellent , actually from a mechanical perspective I have absolutely nothing to complain about . Everything works as it should , the fits are as good as they need to be . There are not rattles or squeaks , the clicky buttons are excellent . The SD4A is just a pure joy to use and being AA gives you the opportunity to play with a lot of batteries . So before I say anything else lets get to the performance :

Alkaline Batteries :

Low > 39 Lumens / Medium > 470 Lumens / High > 664 Lumens / Turbo > 900+ Lumens ( Output was dropping quickly )

Eneloops : ( nimh )

Low > 38 Lumens / Medium > 370 Lumens / High > 657 Lumens / Turbo > 828 Lumens ( Holding output )

Vapex : ( old nimh )

Low > 38 Lumens / Medium > 370 Lumens / High > 474 Lumens ... The SD4A kicked it down a gear here and as a result

Low > 22...Continue Reading

1) A USB 2s charger bundled with my JJRC H28
2) I purchased the B3 to see if it would balance charge as it is all over the place ( Ebay and such )
3) Bundled with a lot of quads n toys
4) Was bundled with a 450 heli combo

So , the question begs ... Do any of these actually balance charge ... ?

I discharged a 2s battery .. And using all the above chargers found no evidence what so ever of balance charging taking place .
I have used 3 and 4 in the past and found the batteries charged to be seriously out of balance .
No 3 being the worst offender .

So does a cheap charger exist that can actually balance charge ?
My guess would be (?) who knows .. I just use a imax B6 which does balance charge .
For a few dollars more then these nasty chargers a B6 will get the job done ..

I know a lot of people harp on the B6 and with good reason !
Myself , I am on my 2nd B6 . I ran the first up to 4 AMP charging 2200 3s batteries ..
And I was charging almost every day .. That poor B6 lasted about 12 months .. ( I did abuse it )

This 2nd B6 has not been taken beyond 1A for charging and might be half a decade old now ..
Anyhow .. This was about those cheap balance chargers that dont seem to actually balance charge .

Just before Christmas I came across some Ebay deals I could not pass bye ...
One of those deals was the JJRC H28 camera Drone ( or quad )

Two stand out features would be :
1) This quad is 2s rather than the usual 1s , it's also some what larger .
2) It has removable arms .. ( See pictures )

1) Battery :
That's right , 2s . I can't say the 2s give more power as it seems offset some by the larger size of the H28 and it's greater weight . The battery does seem to be a quality item , as I have not detected any variance worth mentioning ( seems well balanced / matched )

2) H28 :
The removable arms dont seem to affect performance . For now they remain tight and slop free .
The H28 certainly handles in a predictable and easy manner and should be noob friendly .

My only gripe here is as usual with the remote , it's a toy . The H28 quad itself could be considered hobby grade but just had to be bundled with a lower end toy controller . The remote is at best dead in the middle and vague when it begins to work . In nice open spaces it probably makes little difference but try being precise in a confined space and you will notice right away just how nasty the remote can be .

Binding the JJRC H28 to the iRangeX IRX4 multi protocol module .

As always , these toy grade quads perform so much better when bound to a real RC transmitter ..
I bound the H28 to my Taranis Q x7 with IRX4+ module .

I found the bind process a little tricky as the...Continue Reading

FuriBee F60 fitted to drone (1 min 29 sec)

Now I tried the H28 with its default camera and it sucked ! ( Sorry )

Anyhow I wondered if I could possibly mount and use a action cam .. The landing gear is certainly long enough to accommodate the action cam . So I took a windscreen mount ( for action cams ) , the shortest slider ( slides into mount ) and cam bracket / holder ..
Wow it fits ..

The mount is fitted to the battery cover with double sided tape , for extra security I also fitted two screws .
Looks to be a neat install .. Windy as all outdoors again so I did the jello test flight indoors ..

Cam is set to 2.7k @ 30fps ...

Yes there will be a H28 review !
