THEY ARE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

I recently pre-ordered the edge 540. The General Manager agreed to deliver the plane at a flying field on December 29.

I received an email from the general manager, giving me directions to the field

I sent a response to his email requesting the time he would be at the field. I sent two emails since I did not get a response from my first email and I did not get a response to the second one contrary to what he says in his response below.

The general manager cannot produce any emails to the contrary

The general manager manager tries to muddy the waters by babbling about his vacation and family outing, etc. who cares

He has absolutely no customer service skills. This is not a way to treat a customer who has bought eight planes from them.
I
He lied in his explanation when he said he did not receive any emails from me.

I now drive 40 miles back home. I’m done buying planes from Extreme Flight.
No apology, the response below is a poor excuse of an explanation

Dec 30 Entry
I received an email stating my order was canceled, but nothing regarding my refund

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLANE. Made a mistake putting this plane together because it did not come with instructions. All I have now is a plane that will never fly. WHAT A PIECE OF GARBAGE, this plane is exactly where it belongs in the GARBAGE

The canopy is secured to the fuselage by a wire going across the fuselage. LOSE THAT WIRE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS

This is a pull pull rudder system, they are ok but a pain to install. You need to get the wire tension correct. They did not send the correct hardware to install the rudder system .

$365 dollars wasted. Never again will I buy from a second rate vendor.

11/2/2022
Finally got a response. Got the manual, but not great. They said they will be sending me the canopy latch. I hope so

11/1/2022
Contacted them again. The responded with how can we help. This is not going well. $365 dollars down the drain. I WOULD NOT BUY A PLANE FROM THIS COMPANY. The reviews are complete nonsense saying this is a good company to buy a plane from

10/28/2022

I bought the Extra 300 70e electric. It was on sale and it was $65 less than Extreme Flight Extra. I normally buy Extreme Flight planes I have 12 of them.
Redwing RC Extra had no instruction manual and it does not come with one. They did say they would send me the instruction manual for the 30cc gas Extra.
1) The CG will not be the same
2) In the bag of parts I received a rusty lock nut with bolt. I have no idea what to do with it because I have no manual.
3) There is no way to lock the canopy to the fuselage. It appears this is a spring lock but there is no spring lock.
SHOULD HAVE SPENT THE EXTRA MONEY AND GONE WITH EXTREME FLGHT.

There is just something just not right with this plane. I would be very hesitant about buying from RedWing RC .

There are no build video’s that I found on line. I will give the plane a 10 for looks but for quality 2. Cannot fly it since I cannot lock the canopy

Waiting to here back from RedWing RC

I ordered a part from Horizon Hobby and it was defective. I contacted Horizon Hobby and they immediately sent me a replacement. Did not have to pay for shipping, thank you Horizon Hobby.

I needed the spinner for my FMS Olympus F3A. Unfortunately Horizon Hobby had this on backorder and the shipping cost for this part is $3.90. GravesRC had the same part in stock for the same price shipping costs $8.90. I live 1 hour and 30 minutes from GravesRC and I believe Horizon Hobby is located in Illinois.

Question for GRavesRC why are you overcharging on Shipping costs. I guess its your way of ripping customers off.

I purchased another plane and yes, I purchased another Archer SR6 receiver. This time everything worked perfectly.

Dec 7
The S8R works

Dec 6 Entry
I returned the Archer SR6 receiver back to the vendor. I received the S8R . This should work since I have another S8R in one of my planes working perfectly . I do have Archer receivers but will never get one with stabilization

Nov 11 Entry
So I decided to give this another try. I purchased the STK tool and see if I can program and calibrate this with my computer. FRSKY i don’t know who wrote
the instructions or designed the software for this tool but you need to hire the software engineers from HOBBYEAGLE. Your tool is a complete DISASTER.

Nov 10 Entry
Went and purchase the HobbyEagle
A3Super3. Got it up and running in 15 minutes. Will run more tests to be sure

Nov 5 Entry
With the help of Frsky I was able to calibrate the receiver. When calibrating forget about the label position pay attention to the position of the receiver. The next to the last step can be confusing . That was the good news. The bad news when I installed this in the plane the receiver calibrated the control services. After calibration I had no response from the transmitter to the control services.

I’M DONE

I have advice for those looking to purchase this product. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Maybe there is someone better then me at getting this to work. The paper instructions, the vendor and FRSKY all say...Continue Reading

I have the extreme flight Vanquish, Edge 540, Pantera and Velox. I recently purchased a Precision Aerobatics XR 61. I must say I prefer extreme flight airplanes. The basic reason is they are easier to assemble. They are less complicated. I don’t like having to glue the motor box to the airframe that should already be done. Based on the video I saw the instructor was Gluing the entire motor box before he glued it to the airframe

This is what I have to do to get this plane to fly level. A weight on the left wing and the right alerion slightly down. This plane is a piece of crap. Going to get two Extreme Flight planes soon.

Sent 3 tech support requests to PA, no response. Think twice about planes from PA

The problem with Precision Aerobatics is they don’t support what they sell. If you get a bad plane like I did you’re screwed

My last attempt at trying to fix this plane by adding weights and dropping the right aileron a bit did not solve the problem problem
What is the point of reversing The motor and using the shaft and Collett. Does this provide greater efficiency. I don’t think so it’s just a pain in the A

I've had three of the ZTW Gecko 85 amp ESC's go bad on me in less then a year. Two of these I purchased from Motion RC. I return one since I was told there was a one year warranty. Here is the catch I purchased the ESC with out connectors so I had to solder then on. I was told by Motion RC since I modified the ESC it was no longer under warranty, the modification was I soldered the connections. Really

Today 5/25/21 I was flying and the ZTW Gecko 85 amp failed my third failure.
The motor required a 45amp ESC

I think its time to rip out the ZTW ESC's and replace them. I have 14 planes, an expensive project but necessary. Anyone have any suggestions as to a reasonable priced and good ESC.

I purchased another ESC from GetFpv, a VGood 100amp. I put this in my Sig64, no problems. Flew it the same amount of time I flew the ZTW Gecko. I checked the tempature of the ESC 98degrees and motor temp 85 degrees. Not bad especially in Central Florida. Dumping the ZTW GECKO. 6/2/2021

Great Jet easy to fly and easy to land. It has one flaw, the canopy will warp in the sun. I have sent three messages to FMS tech support with no response. I also sent pictures as requested. The canopy warped does not affect it flying but FMS should respond and make good on a bad part.

FMS did respond and sent a new canopy

Be care full when selecting a propeller for your electric plane. I recently relied on a vendor’s suggestion (Master Airscrew) for one of my planes . They sold me a gas prop for an electric plane. The result was a disaster. Make sure it says made for electric planes.

Purchased this plane from AirBorne Models— World Models.Made a big mistake and it’s on me. This plane is setup for gas only not electric. I had to convert this to electric, don’t fly gas planes. I somehow figured out how to create the battery tray, modify the canopy and most important create vents to allow the air flow . I would not suggest doing this too much trouble. I do believe I have the correct center of gravity, had to add weight to nose of the plane. This plane will be flying this week, hope everything goes well. I may need to change the engine from a 5055-650 to a 5065-650. I’m just at my limit with that engine and weight. One other item the monocote on this plane is horrible constantly ironing it.
9/8/2019 Finally finished the modifications on the plane converted it to electric. Changed the engine to Leopard 5065- 650kv running 5-6s. Took the plane out today and to my surprise it flew perfect. The CG was spot on, I did not have to trim the plane.

I will say this again the monocote on this plane is HORRIBLE its coming off everywhere except the elevator and rudder. It looks like I will eventually have to redo the entire plane in new monocote. I did get my iron out but the glue is all dried up and it will not stick.
Really sad nice plane flies great monocote SUCKS. I would not suggest this plane because of the monocote issue. I have 10 planes and store them in the same place no problems with those planes.

Recently got this plane, easy build however one of the supports would not clamp onto the wing may have to glue it. Not sure about that yet. Taking off was a problem you need to apply a little amount of down elevator, yes down to keep the tail from fish tailing all over the place. Once you see the back come up off the ground neutralize the elevator, apply more power and up she goes. Great flying plane

Used a 4s 2700 flying time very short . Went to a 4s 3000 not much better. Will try a 4s 4000. The 4s 4000 is the way to go for me. The plane balanced well and it flew well.

Bought this plane from Aloft Hobbies, it was my first fiberglass /balsa glider. The build was not difficult but it seemed that way. The instructions were in Czech and bad English. I took my time and when I ran into something I did not understand I went to the web and searched. Most important I took my time to make sure I was doing it right. This was my first glider like this, most of my others gliders were foamies

I was some what apprehensive about flying this plane. It did not take much power to get this in the air. I was about 35% power and I was surprised it took right off with no problems and flew well. I did very little trimming. It is a great plane and fun to fly using 3s 1800 best fit
Aloft Hobbies great place to shop

Anyone doing business with Tower Hobbies you need to be careful. They have been advertising about the Escapade .61 since Oct 2018 about getting it in stock and have been revising the schedule. It is now due mid Feb which I doubt. Unfortunately I back ordered this using a gift Certificate and Tower Hobbies refused to return my money . I believe what they are doing is seeing how many back orders they can acquire before actually ordering the plane. They will revise the delivery schedule again or discontinue the plane since Great Planes is gone
The schedule has not been revised. I guess they got tired of looking silly. Now it’s on order which looks like indefinite back order

Mike
2/13/2019. Still no plane. This is the plane that will show up in 2020. Maybe I can go to the Perry Swap meet to get this plane. We will try
Ha, now we went from On Order to Mid March. Never put an order on back order with Tower Hobbies. I have been waiting since last October

I spoke to Tower Hobbies customer service on 2/25. They stated that I would get a refund and it would take 1-3 business days. It’s now 3/1, still no refund.

Today they came threw got my money refunded. Thank you Tower Hobbies

Well they went from Mid March now back to On Order with this plane. I give up waiting for the plane that will never come in. Deciding on the Sig Four Star 64 or the Super Sport Senior 90.
I decided to keep an update on this plane.Mar 24 the plane is now due late March. I’m taking bets that it will not arrive in late March.

It is March 29 plane is now due LOL late March. Maybe we can take some days from April and give them to March to extend March beyond the 31

Got tired of waiting for this plane bought the SIG 4Star 64, nice plane

I purchased several of these and they crapped out. The result was I lost two planes my FMS Olympus and my Sky Surfer. I’m in the process of ripping them out of my other more expensive planes. Don’t need to lose them

I will start with the bad. The wheel covers are absolutely crap. They will break no matter how careful you are landing or just carrying the plane. They are thin as paper. I was putting the plane down and for some reason that escapes me the wheel cover cracked. I could spend $34 to buy another set but that makes no sense.
The monocote covering wrinkles if the sun hits it so you must keep it in the shade when you are not flying it.

I would not recommend this plane until they fix the problems
I put tape on the cracked wheel cover to prevent further damage. I decided to fix the cover and I took off the tape which pulled off the paint, really. What a piece of junk
If you want a company that makes a great plane then look at Great Planes. I have several of their planes and they are rock solid. The Phoenix Stuka is crap and if this represents the kind of planes Phoenix is building stay away

I have been working in IT for 40 years and decided to upgrade my firmware on my system. Spent time looking at many videos on how to upgrade. Just a piece of advice don’t do this it’s a crap shoot. You have a 50% chance of complete disaster. I followed the instructions and my entire system was wiped out. It’s as if I just got a new system, all my settings are gone. I did what every good IT person does I backed up my system before upgrading. After the disaster upgrade the system would not allow me to restore my models. I have 10 planes that I have to re-program. It’s not worth the risk

DO NOT UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE

I have version open-x9D v1.1.02 trying to upgrade. I cannot down load any firm ware. It will not turn on properly using the two trim buttons and powering on. I get the message throttle error. All my models are gone somehow the system formatted over everything however I did backup my models.

I see numerous seaplanes have the ability to take off from land “grass” and water. Has anyone done so with the Great Planes Catalina take off from grass and land. Any problems
Called Tower Hobbies and they said I could take off and land on WET grass. Make sure I remove the tail rudder

Put this together no problems. Had the correct CG setup. I did actually have to add weight to get the correct CG. First attempt not enough power it landed smoothly. Second attempt it flew well

Decided to get an EDF and this one was a discontinued model. First thing I did was look at the videos on the build. Nothing overly complicated. I went about putting the jet together and then it became obvious. If the servos on the wings go bad there is no way to replace the servo. The instructions tell you to glue the wings to the Fuselage and the servo wire is inside the wing. Not on the outside. Now I need to figure out a way to resolve this before I start flying
Most likely I will replace the servos since they are garbage
Tested the servos they are crap. The esc failed to work. My advice stay away from this plane. It’s not worth the money it’s a throw away plane after so many flights

Called Horizon Hobby and they are sending another ESC. Thank you Horizon Hobby
A discontinued ESC were the reviews are horrible. If the servos do go bad the only way to replace them is to cut the wire and put an extension connector at the end of the cut wire to connect the new servo
I got the ESC from Horizon and to my surprise the ESC worked with no problems. I have not flown it yet just to cold . Waiting for the temperature to get above 45
No ventaliation so be careful not to overheat you’re batteries

I would not recommend this plane

Finally got to fly this. Was very surprised , it flew well. Lots of speed but flies well at slow speeds. Battery and ESC were not hot but I was not running at full throttle maybe 50%
Unfortunately it crashed, hand launching a jet takes a lot of effort. I tried to hand launch this and the result was total loss. I suggest you get a jet with landing gear

Decided to buy some wings I needed for my Olympus F3a. Horizon Hobby and Motion Rc will not have the part in until next Jan. I’ve been waiting since June for the spare part. Went to buy from Hobby Gulf bad idea. They are comatose stay far away from these guys. No response as to if the part was shipped and it’s been three days. I’m thinking about putting in a compliant with my credit card company
Finally got someone on chat line. It’s been shipped I hope.
Finally received my wings. I guess these guys from Gulf Hobby are not bad
