I wanted a portable FPV plane so I took my electronicless Firefly ( out of the closet. I put on a cheap quick FPV setup that I have been experimenting with.

I have flown her a thousand times so I trust that she will not disappoint.

I built an Infineon Bi-plane and loved it, burned out the motor and moved on to a new project or two or 30. A year later the wings are warped so I ditch them and decide to rebirth her as a dropped wing FPV plane I dubbed the Frankinfinion.

Built up a new lower wing with a KFM2 airfoil out of FFF. 32'' WS.

Have a new CX 131 cam and 200mw VTX coming on monday so I will add it then and add some new photos.

I am still deciding whether I should cut out the black canopy area and build a pan tilt on it EZ Star style or just stick a pan servo on the cam straight above the black canopy to avoid getting the prop in the shot. I think it may be kind of cool to get the long nose and the prop in the shot though.

We will see...

Bill, a fellow RCG member, kindly sent me this EPP Concrusher kit that he had in his garage. I just had a baby girl so a build which should have only taken a few hours ended up taking a few weeks but I am happy with the outcome.

2 - 9g servos, 2300kv motor, GWS 5040 prop, 18a esc, ar6100 rx, 1500 mah 3s lipo.

I left the ESC exposed for cooling purposes.

Going to test her out tomorrow.

What a birth date! 1/11/11 at 1:51 my daughter Cassidy Olivia was born.

I am so blessed to have such a happy and healthy baby girl. Once she figures out that she has thumbs I will have her on the simulator. I can't wait to see what a little lady she becomes.

I also can't wait to see what she prefers more, airplanes or helicopters!

After scratch building two different planes as my first FPV platform I finally decided to just go out and buy a nice and stable flyer. The FPV plane I built was a little small and had a very short wingspan so it was pretty twitchy in the air and the Wing I built just seemed a bit to advanced for my current FPV skill level (which is 0), I will have to come back to that later.

I ended up with the Sky Surfer and couldn't be happier. It is huge, way bigger then I expected, and it had tons of room in the fuselage for me to place my gear.

Stock brushless set up with a 2100 3s lipo. 900 mhz TX and RX for the video and a nice 540 LPI camera.

I changed the stock control horns to Dubro, painted the bottom of the wing for visibility and added a 3mm Carbon rod to the bottom of the fuselage to add some extra strength.

Update: added a pan servo:
