It occurred to me ...
That part of the problem lies with the way the pod is a attached to the boom .
3 screws holding it in place to a carbon plate ..
So a lot of force is applied to 3 very small places on launch ..

So before a problem arises , why not just epoxy the pod in place ?
Create a much larger area to distribute launch energy into !
Anyhow , that's what I have done with the Raven 990 ..
I fibreglass reinforced the pod , then glued it in ..
When the Epoxy dries , it should distribute load much more evenly over a much larger area .. ( + the fibreglass wont hurt too much - I hope )
That vertical fin is still weak as ! Next time it breaks , I will cut it out and rebuild it with more carbon reinforcing .

I removed the pod from my Raven 990 and it has a stress fracture @ the same location as my Mini DLG pro ( where it broke )

Major difference between cutting ply and ribs.

Ply requires tough love. Balsa ribs are like cutting through butter. Ply requires saving room on cuts so you can sand to the line. Balsa requires fluid smooth strokes right down the line. If balsa is poetry, ply is a tirade.

Used the drill bit in my hand drill. Blew smoke everywhere. Still looks like a badger made the inner circles.

HyperLow RS+ 6s (3 min 39 sec)

So i finally made the leap to 6s and was relatively surprised by both the flight times and power i was getting on this HyperLow RS+ build.
I have another RS+ that is running 4s lipos and it's an amazing quad,and i can honestly say it's probably the best flying quad i've ever flown in all my years of
flying quadcopters. I'm getting anywhere between 3-6 minutes of flight time on CNHL 1250mah 6S lipos and running Emax RSII 2306-1600kv motors.
I'm also running BetaFlight 4.0 with bidir/rpm filter and it's helped out alot,only time i really get propwash is when i forget to apply the throttle to harshly.
I've only been flying this build very rarely because i only have three 6s lipos so far. My next step to improving this

Make Your Own Inexpensive Centerburner

I have a dozen or so EDF models, most of which are of types that were/are equipped with afterburners. After buying some LED “centerburner” systems, I decided to see how hard it would be to make my own.

This project requires soldering skills, and access to a 3D printer and simple design software (such as the FREE ), This article only describes the electronic part; fabricating the adapter to mount the LED unit to the EDF motor is not covered. Anyone familiar with 3D printer design software should have no difficulty in creating a suitable mount. Total cost of the electronic components for the system is less than $16. If you do NOT have these skills, I suggest you buy a ready made unit from one of the people who market them on

First, I found a suitable high output amber bulb that has it’s own inbuilt voltage regulator.

This is very bright, and runs on anything from 9 – 30 volts. It’s current consumption when full on is only 300mA, and the four brightest LEDs are behind a lens that directs their light along the bulb axis. With a little fiddling assisted by a razor saw I was able to remove the yellow plastic bulb base and expose the inbuilt regulator and its connections. These bulbs are $16 for two at Amazon.
