It is convenient in this work to measure incidence, not relative to the chord line as is normal, but to a line parallel to the flow direction which results in zero lift. This line is known as the ‘no-lift line’, and eliminates the no-lift angle from our equations even for cambered aerofoil sections.

MODEL'S PITCH CHANGE TENDENCY BETWEEN POWER AND GLIDE.
RESULTS:
TRIM NOW REMAINS VERY CONSTANT IN DIFFERENT FLIGHT MODES. THE THROTTLE IS MORE EFFECTIVELY USED FOR CLIMB, CRUSE, AND GLIDE TO LANDING.
THE MODEL WILL NOW FLY WITH ONE TRIM SETTING.
ADDITIONALLY, AEROBATICS IS IMPROVED AS WELL AS THERMAL
MANEUVERABILITY AND SPOT LANDING.

Been wanting something to carry around an Insta360 for a little while now. Saw this HappyModel Cine8 and figured for the price I'd give it a shot. Build is really straight forward and super easy since there's no soldering required. The included assembly instructions leave quite a bit to be desired, but it's simple enough to figure out how it all goes together.

The flight controller arrives configured for props out, so if you assemble it with the motors with the red dots on the connectors as motors two, and three then you won't have to change motor directions in BLHeli. The Whoop feels really solid once assembly is complete. The 1202.5 8000kv motors are also quite smooth and on the included 3s Tattu battery there is plenty of power on tap.

I've only had a chance to get a couple quick flights on it so far, but I'm pretty impressed with how well it flies. It doesn't feel quite as heavy in the air as I was expecting, and I'm confident that it will be able to get some great footage with the Insta360 on it. As I am still waiting for several key parts to arrive through the covid curtailed postal system, something I did receive was a new old stock 1.3gHz Nexwave receiver module for my goggles.
I am not planning to be dependent on this alternative to a ground station in any way, but like the idea of having some freedom to fly my 1.3gHz planes and wings in shorter range situations without the hassle of setting up a ground station, which was my only previous option.
I found the early version of the Fatshark/Nexwave modules on AE at a virtual giveaway price, and after doing some research found there were three versions originally released from around six years ago with all of them enjoying a fairly short period of availability. This may have been due the the V1 and V2 versions having some serious image quality problems, and the V3 having sorted these problems out with a complete design overhaul where it then only spent a very short period on the market before getting pulled from sale... very strange as it's just a receiver.
The versions I found on AE were the V1 and V2-(1.6), and after carefully examining some old Youtube footage put up by dismayed users of these modules I deemed the image quality problem to be a termination issue which I was fairly confident I could overcome.

My lastest two scratchbuilts aren't doing so hot so went back to an old faithful wing that always flies though it has it's peculiarities.
I installed a couple of new elevon horns to equalize the throws, and replaced folding prop with regular prop. Flies quite nicely except for rolls which are slow and ugly due to the long elevons flexing at the ends. Will try to stiffen them up with some laminate and see if that helps.

Bought a useless not GOPRO camera but did find an old cell phone that fits on my baseball cap mount and isn't too heavy and it takes great videos. Happy about that.

Will fly this one around a bit, try to get my scratchbuilt plank working and order a cheap 12 dollar EPP wing kit that I can fly closer to home in a small space. Cheaper to buy this kit than ordering the foam and parts to build my own.

The motors still tend to pop out of their bearings & get stuck. Fortunately, they can still be forced back in, in the field. The encoders are now far enough inside to manage to stay in place. They still need shaft collars.

Anyways, the lion kingdom was left with a pile of solar cells after a failed attempt to make a car battery sustainer. Enough solar cells to do the job would end up costing more than a new battery. They make 1W in direct sunlight & 12mW in shade. Slightly more power could be extracted by matching the load to the cells. For a solar powered car battery sustainer to really work, it would have to be parked in direct sunlight all day. There isn't any electrified car port for thousandaires. It's hard to believe there was ever a time when houses were only 5x an average annual income, but lions still remember. It's been 20 years since the multiple became 10x & it's never gone down. The average electrified garage is now 15x the average salary. Lions believe the multiple will keep rising as long as the global workforce continues expanding faster than demand for labor.

There isn't any obvious, practical use for the solar cells. Besides the car battery charger, they would just power toys. At running speed, they would add 3/4 miles of range to a robot with a 4Ah battery. At walking speed, they would add 1.25 miles. Range extension would increase as speed decreased, until a robot could crawl as long as the sun was up.

Ironically, as green tech took off 10 years ago & then electric cars took off 5 years ago, interest in solar powered toys has gone away. BEAM robots, photopoppers, photovores used to be everywhere. Not sure if the solar hobby enthusiasm as been replaced with green tech day jobs or of the current generation sees solar projects as something government initiates rather than individuals in a garage.

This is a review of the JLB Cheetah, a recent budget rc car to be released. I got mine from Gearbest for about $270. This is the original monster truck version, and there is also a truggy version based off the same chasse and electronics, known as the 21101. Anyways, here is where I got mine from:

To start off, I will list all the items included in the box, and then talk about each of them. Here is what you get:

-An instruction manual

-A charger

-Rechargeable battery

-Radio

-Car itself

To start off, there are a few different instruction manuals included. The first is for the transmitter, and it includes information on how to set failsafes manually on the receiver. It also has a bunch of basic information regarding how to set trims and dual rates, as well as reversing options on the radio.
Additionally, there is a lot of information on the esc, which has its own dedicated instructions. It talks about programming via a card, although I haven’t found what programming card is necessary.

Next, the actual user’s manual is very comprehensive. Although it is not in color, it has a lot of blown-up parts views, as well as information on setting hardware adjustments. Every part is listed and identified via a code, so you can easily find it online.

I wanted to run the "Stunt Tank" version of Cox International's new aluminum backplate today, and rather than build up another engine, I chose a faithful old friend that's dragged assorted flying machines around the Hill and S.M.A.L.L's for a long time.

With no changes other than new gaskets and pick-up tube, the old Golden Bee got it's backplate swapped, and was bolted to the stand and cranked up. I'd put several runs on the Babe Bee, but I decided to REALLY run it's golden sibling by doing on-the-run refuels just for the heck of it.

Once settled into it's run, the GB was real steady, and probably would have flown the B.O.T. all the way to Little Rock if it could have lifted the fuel. After 20 minutes or so, I let it run out it's fuel with no needle-fiddling along the way.

One note to any new-comers: While the old hands all know this...it is important to use the fillister style backplate screws to prevent fuel leaks. I just used the GB's originals in the test, with no leakage, but I think Matt and Bernie stock them if you need replacements.

The last photo is the answer to a question that arose, asking if the aluminum backplate has a steel insert to accept the needle valve. The magnet says, "Yes!"


So now, the Q-Tee is on charge, and we may sneak a flight in later today.

I recently did a "first looks" and simulator-test video on the new Jumper T-Lite radio and that is very nice ofcourse BUT does it actually work as a radio?? :P

With all the rules restricting fun with drones it's about time to go bigger and lighter. Here is my take on a 5" FPV drone. Currently I'm under 236 grams using a BetaFPV SMO4k and a small Tattu 4s 450mAh Lipo. However, I'm planing on switching to Gaoneng 3s 1100mAh (130C). The frame is a Gatehunter X by Dave_C_FPV, motors are 2004 3150kv by Brotherhobby.
