Halloa people

recovered from the onslaught of calories over the last month I hope?

The Diatone / Mamba quad stacks have amassed a Great reputation over the last years. They have proven to be both affordable and good performers.. Don't get me wrong: even the best stacks Can fail.. I have at least 10 quads with Mamba stacks, and over the last year I have had 1 4-in-1 ESC fail after a few flights..

AND.. they just released several updates / upgrades! The first one I got my hands on is the F722s flight controller + F50 Pro ESC stack

Link to it: Mamba F722S + F50 Pro stack

DustOff #9 - "Glue & Fly Series" F22 Micro V2 - Rocket Ship to the Moon ;-)

Here is a link to the Video:

#GroundControlRC #GlueAndFly #ScratchBuildPlanes #F22Micro

Wind was 3mph-5mph (5kmh-8kmh) again and I had some Trim work to do after Centering my Servos.
I had not know about Sub-Trim when I first setup this Micro Parkjet.
After Centering my Servos with Sub-Trim it was time to Trim it out again.
Now, it's all Trimmed out and flies nice and level at cruise speed and the Rolls are completely Axial ;-)
I have absolutely no Trim in the Transmitter at all, it's all Mechanical Trim ;-)

The skill level needed for this Parkjet is Intermediate to Advanced.
Intermediate setup is a 2S Power System with 10 points more Dual-Rate than on a 3S Setup.
Advanced setup is a 3S Power System.
It's very docile on a 2S Power System, Fast & Aerobatic with a 3S Power System.

This is an adapter to connect an analog diversity module to the DJI Digital FPV goggles outside by cable. Clean solution, but you should install the current DJI update to at least v01.00.02.00 so you get very low latent times up to 20ms. So you don't need any other analog FPV glasses anymore !!
A video module is simply plugged in here and you can fly analog tiny whoops, toothpicks.

If you're unfamiliar with drones (or even unfamiliar), reading all the words in the industry and expecting to fully understand it can be daunting. That's why we are here to help with the Drone Vocabulary Guide! The goal is to make sure you understand what you are reading, especially the specifications.

A device for sensing and measuring 3-dimensional acceleration mainly used to help stabilize drones. Usually, these are built into the flight computer.

Automatic leveling

Enables drones to automatically travel in uniform flight.

Autonomous flight

No human intervention is required to complete the flight of the system.

Beyond sight. The operator cannot see any flight of the drone with independent vision (binoculars, cameras, etc.), including when the operator cannot tell which direction the drone is facing.

Coverage area

The area that a drone can cover during flight. For many drones, this will change depending on the payload configuration.

Cruising speed

Speed of the drone during the flight cruise phase.

The ability to see, sense or detect air traffic or other hazards and take action to prevent collisions.

flight duration

Drone flight time. This is usually the longest time when viewing drone specifications. When scheduling a task, this is the time required to complete the task.

Ground control station. GCS is usually the interface that operators use to control or issue...Continue Reading

So I remember around 1974-1980"s in some R/c magazine about a high wing kit that somebody converted to a mechanism to release systematically fake bombs under the wings. Did I dream this article? I've looked in my magazines without success. Does anyone remember this short article?

Hi all:
This obviously is my first blog post... where to start.
I'm retired living in the Philippines as an Expat. A great place to be. We have to date no restrictions on R/C activities except drones are Geo fenced from Airports. (very few airports however) There are very few bonafide R/C flying fields, but they do exist, just not near me. So after 50 years or so in R/C living in the U.S. I'm looking at appropriate ways to re-enter the hobby on a reduced scale. My thoughts are trying either electric sailplanes and small electric foamies. Been looking at a lot of FMS stuff, it's cheap and fairly well made it seems. Their 3 meter Fox looks pretty awesome for a big foamie. But to start I'm thinking a Volantex 2.4 meter electric sailplane, and or an FMS cub or Beaver 2 meter.

My past experience includes 40% aerobatic planes and 30% and 40% sailplanes. There is no way to accommodate this size plane here let alone find a place to fly, so KISS will be my motto at this point. BTW we do have a lot of potential slope sites here to explore for soaring.
Cheers, more to follow

Oh boy the weather pattern continues
Same as last week steady 20 or so with +30 mph gusts...And started out with some sunshine before the snow squalls moved

I brought out the 2m Gerry and maidened a 56 inch " Sally" from the GEMS boys in Cleveland -
As it turned out I only flew the Sally, put in a hour flight and had a Blast
What a great flying ship !
Mine comes in at 24 oz with a removable wing and rudder, there is plenty of room for ballast if desired

About 10 years ago, I started my own project - "LiPo Professor" measures internal resistance of LiPo cell(s) accurately in micro-ohm resolution.

This idea is based on a expensive/industrial measurement method using AC current.
Appling weak (~mA) 1kHz (in my memory) AC current through a capasitor to LiPo cell(s), and measure AC voltage simultaneously. Then we can get the internal resistance of cell(s) easily to calculate R=Voltage.AC/Current.AC. Then display it on a LCD.
Cells have some static capacitance, so phase detection/correction is required.

This circuit generates sin wave instead of dirty square wave using internal DAC of MCU for accracy. And caliculation method is "coherent detection" whitch have high sensitivity and acclacy. It need computation power slightly, so I used DSPIC MCU. (It's outdated IMO, I'll choose STM32F3 if it is now on).

Eventually I planned this product to commercial. But terrible earthquake in 2011/03/11 was changed everything. I eleminated this project and went into mourning.

Now I open all of this project.

Oh yeah! This one should be lots of fun! The L6082 Air Genius 3 in 1 Tiny Whoop Drone, Whoover, Glider is a complete ready to run package that gives you the option of flying a quadcopter, driving a mini hovercraft, or piloting a micro airplane.

The package includes everything you need to get flying, or hovering except 4 AA batteries for the transmitter. They even include 2 flight batteries to keep the fun going longer, with less down time.

One very nice surprise for me was to see that they also include 4 wings. As someone that already owns a bunch of Whoops, and Drones my biggest interest in this model was the idea of having a plane that I could fly around in the house. Extra wings gives me the confidence to push the limits a bit without worry of being grounded due to a hard crash.

Check out the pics, and first glider mode flight video. More info and videos coming soon.

These currently on sale on Amazon here for only $19.99 with free 2 day shipping for Prime members.

I already built one of these and really enjoy 3" quad flying. I wanted a second frame that I was able to switch up components (motors, camera, batteries) so I can have a normal flier and then one to test as well as a backup in the event of a crash.

My first one was a FPVCrate 3" Acrobrat Duo Limited Edition - basically a box kit with nice components. It's a tad heavy but flies really well so I have a good baseline to fly against with my new build.

Here is my component list for the new build (I also have a different stack and motors coming to try and will likely try some 1407/1408 motors or similar). Goal is to test on 4S - 850 mAh or 650 mAh packs.
  • Ummagawd Acrobrat Duo 3" Frame by Tommy Tibajia
  • T-Motor F1507 3800KV
  • Lumenier LUX Mini 20x20 5.8GHz FPV Video Transmitter (25-800mW)
  • Lumenier LUX MINI F7 Flight Controller
  • Lumenier Micro Razor 4in1 20x20 F3 BLHeli_32 30A 2-6s ESC
  • Lumenier Micro AXII 5.8GHz Straight MMCX FPV Antenna - RHCP
  • FrSky R-XSR SBUS 2.4GHz Micro Receiver
  • M3 Knurled Standoff - Dark Blue 20mm
  • 45 RX Antenna Tube Holder for Standoff 2 Pack - Blue
  • Ummagawd Acrobrat DUO Soft Mount Arm Guards - Blue
  • RunCam Hybrid - Dual 4K HD & FPV Camera
  • AXII Micro Mount For Acrobrat Duo (Black)
  • M5 Low Profile Motor Nut w/ Flange - Dark Blue

Future options:
  • XING X1507 FPV NextGen Motor (black) - KV: 4200KV
  • iFlight SucceX Mini F7 TwinG V3 FC & 35A 4in1 ESC & 25-500mW VTX 20x20 Stack/Combo

I'll start with the same stack as my first build and...Continue Reading

wow ,i have not updated my blog in forever . since my last entry its been years .that said i went thru a period of rc monster trucks such as the emaxx, the colossus, arrma kraton, arrma outcast, traxxas slash, traxxas rustler and probably more .

then i sold everything ground related and got into boats . i really enjoy boats and have had a few of these as well . to mention a few
proboat recoil 26,proboat blackjack 29 ,proboat veles, all those are gone now . i currently have a proboat sonicwake and a hobbyking pursuit . and for rescue i have a traxxas blast .
oh i had owned a traxxas spartan for 2 years and also a streamline thrasher for a year .

yes i go thru alot of gear . i tend to keep things around about 2 years before needing a change .boats have been hanging in there a little longer as i really enjoy them .

i currently picked up a couple quadcopters .
a diatone gt2 2016 racing quad and a armattan acro 355 carbon fiber frame .i still toy around with them now and then .

i just recently won an auction for a brushless traxxas summit .turns out the thing was brand spankin new .yay for me .

so i been toying around with that as well .

thats about it so until next time .be well and rc

Japan's "Asahi Shimbun" January 14 issue published a report entitled "The Government intends to strengthen the domestic drone company's assistance policy", said that small drones are being widely used in cargo transportation and other industries, the government decided to introduce assistance policies accordingly, Help domestic enterprises to develop or introduce drone models that can effectively respond to cyber-attacks.

It is reported that the Japanese government plans to submit a new bill at the general meeting of the parliament that opens on the 20th and strives to formally implement this summer.

At present, due to safety considerations, according to the provisions of the "Aeronautical Law" and other regulations, UAVs are restricted to fly around urban areas, nuclear power stations, and other important facilities and beyond the eyes of the operator. The Japanese government's policy is to relax some restrictions before 2022 to facilitate the use of drones in the logistics and security industries with severe shortages.

According to the report, with the popularization of 5G, mainstream drones may be capable of autonomous flight in the future, but there is also the possibility of being manipulated by third parties through hacking means or maliciously intercepting captured video images.

In order to prevent similar situations, the Japanese government will introduce a new law to provide support for aircraft models that have adopted security measures or for the introduction and development of autonomous flight systems. It is reported that when a venture capital company with a government background makes a capital contribution, it will relax some of the approval conditions and will also facilitate the relevant companies to obtain low-interest Japanese policy financial treasury financing.
