In this, the first of several "FRIDAY FLASHBACKS" on my YouTube channel, I'm featuring videos that for whatever reason, never got uploaded. Sometimes they're long forgotten on some crowded hard drive, and sometimes life just gets in the way...

With some free time as of late, I've gone through several storage drives, and have found some REAL GEMS !

First up is a rarely seen, gorgeous model of a de Havilland D.H.86 Express by master modeler Dan Johnson :
de Havilland DH-86 Express by Dan Johnson - FRIDAY FLASHBACK! St George Utah, 2016 (5 min 8 sec)

Please enjoy watching this beauty cruise gracefully over St. George Utah during the 2016 St. George Electric Festival !

Brent Hecht's classic old SIG Kadet powered by an old O.S. FS-52 out a Rabbit dry lake :
SIG Kadet LT-40 with O.S. FS-52 4 stroke engine - Is this the BEST RC trainer of all time? (3 min 19 sec)

I was given this plane by a local hobby shop who in turn was given it by a widow who had no idea what to do with it. I gave it to Brent who then recovered the fuse (it was in pretty bad shape), but kept the original skin on the wing and tail surfaces as it really tells the story of the plane, with the original SIG markings on the tail, and the mHz frequency on the main wing!

Question: is the SIG Kadet the greatest RC trainer of all time

Let me know what you think...

Last fall I was able to meet and spend some time with RC legend Brian O'Meara while he was at the Las Vegas Warbird and Classics Scale Event. He was flying many of his giant-scale beauties, including this outstanding and rarely modeled Republic F-84F Thunderstreak. This was made from a Phantasy in Blue kit imported from Holland and is powered by a JetCat 200 turbine engine.

Unfortunately, she experienced a flameout and with his longtime crewchief and spotter Wayne coaching along the way, Brian calmly and successfully brought his model in for a perfect deadstick landing !
Republic F-84G Thunderstreak by Brian O'Meara - FLAMEOUT! (Deadstick Landing) (5 min 41 sec)

What a treat to watch an experienced pilot and spotter bring in a stricken ship...!

So here's the maiden flight of my "new to me" To-Ho Cherokee EP !
Tower Hobbies Cherokee EP 43.2" wingspan - MAIDEN FLIGHT!! (10 min 11 sec)

It's really a shame this fine flying little plane is discontinued

She's a great blend of old-school built-up construction, along with modern brushless electric power, that looks great and flies even better !

Just an older video that I'm only now getting around to posting...sheesh !

Here's a flight with the UMX Waco at my favorite little dry lake near Newberry Springs :
E-flite UMX Waco BL BNF Basic - Bush flying at Newberry Springs! (7 min 29 sec)

The Waco is without a doubt one of my favorite UMX planes...what an absolute sweetheart! Sadly, it has been discontinued since this video was shot several months ago...

If you can find one on the second-hand market, or hiding away on some hobby store's shelf...GET IT!

Cheers and all the best to everyone during this time of Covid craziness !

Today we feature Rodger Hecht's build of a John Morgan design...

This is a seldom seen North American Aviation FJ-1 Fury over Rabbit dry lake in Lucerne Valley, California !
North American FJ-1 Fury at Rabbit dry lake (6 min 22 sec)

This early US Navy jet directly led to the development of the FJ-2 Fury and the legendary F-86 Sabre jet of Korean War fame !

If you want to help me out, all I ask is that you open it in "YouTube" click the "HD 1080P" gear, and watch the video there...it does help, trust me !

Wishing everyone all the best during the COVID madness...

It seems with all the lock-downs and social distancing going on, some folks are spending their time resurrecting old RC models...and this is one of those for sure !

I caught up with Ken Le as he was out flying this beautiful old model for the first time in 15 years !!!
Hirobo AH-1W Super Cobra with OS60 Engine - Vintage Nitro Powered Scale Helicopter! (7 min 18 sec)

Ken has owned this classic old helo since 1999, and from the looks of things, he hasn't lost his touch for RC helicopter flying...

If you want to help me out, please open this video in "YouTube" and click on the little gear to "1080P HD"...you'll get a much better viewing and sound experience overall!

Stay safe everyone and wishing you all the best !

So E-flite recently released a very nice looking, nice sized model of one of my all time favorite, top-ten airplanes, the Twin Otter !

Here's the product link: https://www.horizonhobby.com/twin-ot...ats-p-efl30050

I guess the plane is officially "a hit" as the preorders quickly sold out, and now the model is back-ordered until mid-January !

That said, I really fell in love with the early series 100 Twin Otters made by DeHavilland Canada back in the late 1970's in San Diego, where I got to see them fly out of Montgomery Field on regularly scheduled cargo runs. This model is based on the Viking Air (who bought all the type certificates from DeHavilland Canada) series 400, with a slightly longer nose and upgraded engines putting out substantially more SHP than the original engines.

That said, here's my unboxing video of the E-flite 1.2m Twin Otter :
E-flite Twin Otter 1.2m BNF Basic - UNBOXING (31 min 1 sec)

Enjoy and all the best !

Okay, okay....

So I am absolutely HORRIBLE at keeping up with my RCGroups Blog....

BUT....I WILL get better at it...

That said, let's get cracking on videos from the St. George Electric Festival, 2019!

This was an event held about a month ago or so, and it was great to get caught up with friends, both new and old, and capture many of their unique creations on video...

For starters, here's Wade Joos' beautiful Nick Ziroli B-25 Mitchell on it's first flight after it's heart-breaking crash at last year's event !

Just got back from having a great time at SEFF 2018 !

For those who may not know, the Southeast Electric Flight Festival (SEFF) is one of the oldest all electric RC flight events in the United States. It is a weeklong event held in Americus Georgia at Mac Hodges Field. Hodges field is acres upon acres of nicely cut Bermuda grass surrounding a small pond, perfect for float planes

I had a GREAT time with old friends, made new friends, and saw many unique and one-of-a-kind models cruising through the Georgia skies...

That said, I'll be using this thread as a sort of "V-LOG" and posting the MANY videos I shot over the course of the week, so stay tuned as they'll be popping up here in the blog for the next few MONTHS !

First up, here's Rich Baker as he puts the FMS 1700mm F7F Tigercat "La Patrona" through it's paces at SEFF 2018 !

We're getting the New Year off to a great start!

The good folks at Horizon Hobby and E-flite have just released what is arguably the NICEST FLYING AT-6 on the market today !

Now, some might say that's a pretty bold statement, and I would have to agree...

Here's a video of the maiden flight to prove it....:
E flite AT-6; Maiden Flight! - 07JAN18 (17 min 27 sec)

Yes indeed, there IS such a thing as a good flying AT-6, and I think this one is it! To be honest, I've never really been much of a T-6 kind of guy; I don't know why really, but the type has just never light my fire so to speak...

But, the more I fly this model, the more it convinces me that I AM a believer in the AT-6
