Here's a simple test to compare the drag from a free spinning prop and a stopped prop.

Free-Spinning Prop - Drag Test (2 min 21 sec)

UPDATE after further research:
The amount of drag is influenced by the pitch of the prop. Higher pitch gives less drag when free spinning. If the pitch is high enough then free spinning will give less drag than stopped (according to this study http://www.peter2000.co.uk/aviation/misc/prop.pdf) I tested some high pitch props but didn't have any that could show this, however the free spinning drag was definitely closer to the stopped drag.

I wasn't using the ASW28 thermal motor glider any more and the Phoenix wing had been modded beyond recognition, so I put the two together to make a sweet looking sloper. Here's how it performs.

Made up a 1m centre section to fit between the halves of a Raptor/Phoenix 2000 wing.
It glides very well but needs a longer tail for improved directional stability

Banggood tell me this is a Skipper XL with better electronics.
It's a blast to fly off grass but I have to admit, I'm having trouble with the water work. Need to waterproof it and pick the right weather and site.

Here's my HobbyKing Cloud Surfer which no longer has a T-tail. It was too flexy and prone to damage so I put the horizontal stab down where it belongs.

This Tundra-like plane used to be a Volantex Ranger 757-4 (mini Ranger)
With the addition of flaps and conversion to tractor motor it's a totally different flying experience.

Here's my latest build to replace a tired old Synapse wing.
This one is hot wire cut Sipkill foil, packing tape covered.

Initial flight were in lots of wind and I had a few radical unrecoverable stalls after loops and downwind turns. Now with the CG forward a bit more and my flying technique dialed in it's flying beautifully, so maneuverable.

1.3m twin boom pusher. This is an amazingly agile plane. It can rip around the sky taking whatever you throw at it.
