Ancient HK GoDiscover that I pulled out of the closet to test out as an autonomous platform for my schools SUAS AUVSI competition.

Equipment List:

-Pixhawk + Neo 6M GPS/Compass (Hopefully M8P and tiny RTK soon)
-915 Mhz telemetry
-60A power module & current sensor
-Spektrum DSMX Satellite (temporary - installing UHF soon)
-HK 60A BlueSeries ESC
-Turnigy Aerodrive SK3-3542-800kv motor
-Aeronaut 11x6 folding propeller
-9g digital servos
-5200mAh 4S Turnigy Graphene

-Raspberry Pi 3+
-Raspberry Pi 8MP Camera with magnifying lens
-Nikon Coolpix S3300

The plane is a little on the heavy side, but so far has flown beautifully. I'm hoping to move up to a larger airframe soon to carry some larger cameras and gimbals.

Of course, the motor mount broke on the first landing (typical of the GoDiscover), so I patched it up with a beautiful balsa plate.

Some pictures of my brand new freestyle quad, fully 6S capable. Full build write-up coming soon.

Components:

-Modified QAV210 style frame (actually made from 2 frame kits)
-TBS Powercube Elite Bundle (FPVision & Colibri) <--Seriously the most amazing FC/Vtx/OSD combo I've ever used
-Racerstar 35A ESCs (Not a fan of burning up ESCs on huge 6S punch outs - super solid ESCs)
-Brother Hobby Tornado T2 2300Kv motors
-Foxeer HS1177
-Brain3D adjustable GoPro Session Mount <-- Love this thing
-Genuine Fatshark circular polarized 5.8Ghz antenna
-Spektrum DSM2 satellite
-All white/clear trim scheme

Close to $450 invested, but I wanted an extremely solid quad with tremendous capability. Will likely last me forever - top of the line components that won't go out of style.

Seriously love this quad. Amazing amounts of power and my custom lowrider mod brings the center of gravity closer to the center of the quad. This mod gives it amazing agility - rolls and snaps like crazy. Without a doubt one of the best quads I have ever built! Haven't gotten to try it out on 6S yet - almost too scared of the power ...Continue Reading
