It occurred to me ...
That part of the problem lies with the way the pod is a attached to the boom .
3 screws holding it in place to a carbon plate ..
So a lot of force is applied to 3 very small places on launch ..

So before a problem arises , why not just epoxy the pod in place ?
Create a much larger area to distribute launch energy into !
Anyhow , that's what I have done with the Raven 990 ..
I fibreglass reinforced the pod , then glued it in ..
When the Epoxy dries , it should distribute load much more evenly over a much larger area .. ( + the fibreglass wont hurt too much - I hope )
That vertical fin is still weak as ! Next time it breaks , I will cut it out and rebuild it with more carbon reinforcing .

Major difference between cutting ply and ribs.

Ply requires tough love. Balsa ribs are like cutting through butter. Ply requires saving room on cuts so you can sand to the line. Balsa requires fluid smooth strokes right down the line. If balsa is poetry, ply is a tirade.

Used the drill bit in my hand drill. Blew smoke everywhere. Still looks like a badger made the inner circles.

HyperLow RS+ 6s (3 min 39 sec)

So i finally made the leap to 6s and was relatively surprised by both the flight times and power i was getting on this HyperLow RS+ build.
I have another RS+ that is running 4s lipos and it's an amazing quad,and i can honestly say it's probably the best flying quad i've ever flown in all my years of
flying quadcopters. I'm getting anywhere between 3-6 minutes of flight time on CNHL 1250mah 6S lipos and running Emax RSII 2306-1600kv motors.
I'm also running BetaFlight 4.0 with bidir/rpm filter and it's helped out alot,only time i really get propwash is when i forget to apply the throttle to harshly.
I've only been flying this build very rarely because i only have three 6s lipos so far. My next step to improving this

Make Your Own Inexpensive Centerburner

I have a dozen or so EDF models, most of which are of types that were/are equipped with afterburners. After buying some LED “centerburner” systems, I decided to see how hard it would be to make my own.

This project requires soldering skills, and access to a 3D printer and simple design software (such as the FREE ), This article only describes the electronic part; fabricating the adapter to mount the LED unit to the EDF motor is not covered. Anyone familiar with 3D printer design software should have no difficulty in creating a suitable mount. Total cost of the electronic components for the system is less than $16. If you do NOT have these skills, I suggest you buy a ready made unit from one of the people who market them on

First, I found a suitable high output amber bulb that has it’s own inbuilt voltage regulator.

This is very bright, and runs on anything from 9 – 30 volts. It’s current consumption when full on is only 300mA, and the four brightest LEDs are behind a lens that directs their light along the bulb axis. With a little fiddling assisted by a razor saw I was able to remove the yellow plastic bulb base and expose the inbuilt regulator and its connections. These bulbs are $16 for two at Amazon.

This thread's intent was to reach out to pilots who have intermediate to advanced skills with 3D aircraft from 100" to 112" or scale and warbird planes to 120", who are electric power enthusiasts and wished to try the new StinGR power system.

This system can develop up to 11.5 kW and turn propellers from 3-blade 24x10 props to 30x12 2-blade props on only 12S. In some instances, we're seeing between 7 and 10 minute flight times on non-3D planes.

We now have eleven different planes in the US and Europe involved with this project. So thank you all for your enthusiasm and participation. As the nine project continue on to their conclusion, I will add images and videos to this thread.

Like many others first flight of the stock 130S was a bit lack lustre, the machine bogged down easily in higher G moves and generally felt heavy and under powered. Nice flier but needed more pep.

Seems that going for the longer 180 CFX blades didn't really suit the machine either at 150 - 153 - 155mm lengths didn't work.

By chance I also fly an XK K130 this has really nice stiff CF blades at 143mm long that fir perfectly into the 130S. The blades are noticeably stiffer and the handling is noticeably improved. and it suits the stock tail boom length. I upped the tail I setting by 20 in the Tx - Rx

The machine picked up allot more speed and way better performance all round. seems this is the magic length and the stiffer CF suits the heli perfectly.

Stiffer CF blades for 1/2 the price of the stock plastic flexi blades.

I added white film wrap to the black CF blades and red tip stripes, visibility is as good as stock.

Batteries: the new GNB 450 batteries suit this guy down to the ground, sold 5 1/2 minutes fly time and good power delivery solid as up to around 5 1/4 minutes then you can feel it was back a fraction. Did push them to 6minutes but that resulted in 3.6V in the cells.

Like many of you, I found the blade 230s/250 cfx tail / tail blade to be pretty hopeless; poor hold and screams like hell when worked hard.

I really like the 250 cfx but the weak tail was quite frustrating - 45 degree tail blow outs are common

Blade just transferred the 200 srx tail blade, which was marginal even on that smaller bird, into the 230 /250. In the 230 when up you update the main motor, and the 250 even stock, tail blow outs are common.

The stock prop has a flat pitch and relied on lots of rpm to generate thrust. Problem is the bigger rotors on the 230 and especially the 250 need more holding power than what the stock prop can deliver hence the screaming tail syndrome. Dia is oddball as well at 3 1/4 “

On the 200srx I had great results using 3” DIA three bladed 3045 quad props and these also worked well on stock 230s but was working hard on the 250cfx. Even the 3056 wavy profile blade was working hard, so time for a revision !

I have been looking at 4” props but the majority are too bulky and the typical bull nose end profiles are to aggressive and overheated the tail motor. round end 4045 2 blade units are hard to find

I spotted some great looking folding 4045 twin blades props and with a bit of simple adaption these work great on the 250. !

These are also going onto the Huey and as355 scale birds

Well ,

Not that the Mini DLG pro was a particularly good DLG glider !
I mean , the UMx Whip could probably give it a run for it's money .

But ! I may as well try and repair it .

To that end !
1) I glued the pod back together with some thick Cyno
2) I scratched up the plastic surfaces
3) I put some light weight glass cloth inside and out using the thick cyno to glue it down .

I went with the thick cyno - Since it did such a good job gluing the two halves back together .
Hopefully I have a functional pod once more .

I am sure the carbon boom will be far more challenging , it's strength is seriously compromised .
Just trying to think of something .
Do I go to a Spring pull system , eliminating the music wire running on the outside of the boom ?
That way allowing me to do a WRAP around where the wing posts are , adding strength .
