Today was day 4 with the mXC2.

I think I have made terrific progress thus far. I've got hovering down to an art. I am also able to fly forward and backwards with ease. I even did a couple of spins today.

I'm not spending hours and hours at this. Whenever I have to go down to my workshop - where I fly it - I take 5 minutes out to fly. I only fly until the battery dies once, even though I have 3 batteries.

There have been a LOT fewer crashes today. It is a good thing that this model heli is durable becasue it really took a beating for the first couple of days. The only malfunction I've had is broken landing skids. I rushed to the hobby shop to get new ones to the tune of 5 bucks. I learned when I got back home that there were multiple ways I could have fixed the broken ones. It was only then I realized that there is a lot more to this hobby than just flying. I did an inspection today and found that there is just a little nick on the edge of one of the upper blades. It can't be serious because it is flying very well. That being said, I'm going to pick up a couple more sets of blades this week, just to have them on hand.

So far I'm still setting the RC to beginer mode. I'm so glad to have that option! And all my flights have been straight forward and backwards and banking from side to side. I haven't worked up the nerve to fly it face to face yet but will probably give it a try tomorrow.

I've mastered adjusting the rudder smoothly, meaning that it isn't a jerking motion. I've also got a handle on landing. I've got a 2x2' piece of cardboard on the work table and can pretty well put the bird down on it 5 out of 10 times. And the landings are very smooth... there isn't much bouncing when I touch down.

And so all in all I think I'm doing well. There is one thing for sure - I'm having a ton of fun with it. Also, I know I am badly addicted to this hobby.
