Working on a small one.

Got the 150mm Quad Finished and did a quick maiden. The GF 4045 props cut down to 80mm provide a decent amount of thrust. The build ended up at 140g, with a 3S 800mah batt it's right at 200g and hovers at 40-45% throttle .

Made some progress on the Micro H recently.

Size: 100mm
Weight: 37g
Motors: AEO C05S ~3g modded with 1mm shafts (orig 0.7mm)
Kv: 7900KV
Batt: 1S
ESC: AEO BE001-M 1S/5A (modded, removed the brushed converters)
FC: AfroMini32
Props: H107
Frame: Custom 3D Printed

I modeled and printed a 100mm frame with a superstructure laid out to contain the esc's and the afromini. I will probably revisit the design a bit as the arms can flex a bit too much and allow the props to contact the frame.

For this setup I fell back to a lemon satellite for convenience. Maiden flight went pretty well though the fc definitely needs more tuning,

I've gotten some work done on the Micro H. Thanks to Midilec's code I now have a Hubsan compatible Rx and I am getting the electronics hooked up. Still some soldering to do but I'm getting there. Working on a good way to mount the Rx, maybe some sort of super structure. AUW is still looking pretty good, target is under 80g and all that needs to be added is the 1g gps, compass, micro pinhole cam, video Tx and a battery.

The Rx can only tolerate 3.3v so I tacked a vreg to one of the esc's, we'll see how well it works.

Made some progress setting up the SlowHawk, Finished soldering up all the power/motor wires and the 40 bullet connectors,oh plus one repaired on one of the motors.

Finally got around to flashing my D8R-II+ to output ppm and it is working nicely. Still need to catch up on what is possible for getting the RTFhawk to talk to the FrSky telemetry.

Lot's more to do, I have a Telemetry Radio I may install, need to get FPV gear installed. Need to make up some connectors for the GPS and mount the gimbal.

Working on a new 750 bulld.

AUW ~1500g @ 3S 5000mah
Estimated Flight time ~20 min.
  • Tarot IRON MAN 650 stretched to 750
  • RCTimer SK OPTO ESC 30A
  • Turbo Ace X830 Motors/mounts
  • 1355 Props
  • RTFhawk Flight Controller
  • NEO-6M GPS
  • 200mw Video Tx
  • $50 Clone Gimbal
Motor mounts are 12mm, the frame arms are 16mm. I sleeved the arms with 14mm cf tube and slipped some 12mm in and left it protruding to mount the motors on . Drilled and pinned the inserts with solid cf rod. Came out pretty nice and strong without adding much weight.

I started on a new build. The idea is an ~110mm brushless FPV quadcopter. Power will be provided by MCPX tail motors. I've done some research and it looks like I should be able to get ~40g of thrust from each with a 55mm prop so a AUW of 60-80g seems reasonable. I'd like it to be fully sensor-ed, initially this is a Naze Afro Mini, gps-e: 1gram and a fpv cam/tx.

I've mocked up a frame in plastic, will be making the final out of cf.

I've had the parts lying around, for quite a while now..., to put together a FPV Quad and finally did it. The FC is a ST F3 Disscovery Board sitting on a breakout board from http://www.rcswift.com/catalogue/ it is running the flyingF3 code from Tau Labs. It is flying now, next is to add sensors and GPS and get into the UAV goodness.

Here's a pic from mid build , final build and flight video to follow.

My second mutation is an attempt at flybarless. Having a hard time getting the tail to stick, always need to give it some rudder to keep it straight. Not sure what to adjust to get the tail to hold with out it spinning wildly at zero throttle. Has some issues with TBE and without PID's on the stabilizer it probably will never be quite right. It's close to being a good flyer but still needs some adjustments.

I picked up a couple of 9104's in a package deal, saw what guys were doing with the 4 ch conversion and had to give it a try

First up is a brushed version. Flies pretty well but the swash rate and authority are pretty weak. I did get a bit more by adapting some 450 mixing arms for the flybar links. I think I'm loosing quite a bit of movement due to the angles of the links and am going to try to straighten them out some. Probably help to get some decent servos to replace the stock ones too. Blade CP main motor gets very hot but puts out plenty of power.

Blade CP DD Tail motor
2x Esky 20a Brushed esc's
3S 1000mah 20c

Once (if) I can get the swash geometry worked out I'll probably build the second one with brushless motors.
