Extra 300 by HookLL - gift of a local friend, after some serious crash.

Some TLC brought it back to flying condition.

1200 mm wingspan, 1333 g AUW.

Original motor. Battery 3S 2200 mAh LiPo.

Folding prop.

Cowl made from Blue-Bunny Ice cream container. No landing gear ( belly lander) . No canopy.

Great Planes Rifle 31" wingspan moulded wing.

Custom fuselage made from 6mm diameter carbon tube. Homemade tail group.
Motor: Turnigy Propdrive 28-26, Kv=1200 rpm/V.
Battery LiPo 3S 1100 mAh.
Folding propeller 9.45" x 8" .
Two 9 g servos (aileron and elevator).
AUW 410 g = 14.46 oz .
Static test : 16 A , 188 W , at full throttle.

Brooklyn Dodger , a classic free flight model airplane from 1941 , designed by Sal Taibi.

I got it as a gift from Gary S. ( thanks ! ) , who got it from the original owner and builder Ed Walker ( thanks! ).

Wing span is 55in ( 1.4 m). AUW is 1250 g = 44.1 oz.

Converted to electric R/C , with Rudder, Elevator and Throttle controls.

Removed the old Tornado engine and added an electric brushless motor: 174 g , Kv= 800 RPM/V .

12"x6" APC clone propeller.

LiPo 3S battery 2200 mAh.

Full WOT current is 21A , but it flies ok with just 7 A.

Maiden flight of the Alula EVO , at the Shell Ridge slope.
Alula is Latin for winglet or little wing. It is the diminutive of the noun "ala" (wing).
The Alula glider was designed by Michael Richter, manufactured by his company Dream-Flight , https://dream-flight.com/

This plane was purchased , (used) , from my "cousin" Marek S. , and needed some TLC.
It was cleaned , and covered with Doculam , aka "the new stuff".

A lightening hole was added to the vertical stabilizer. AUW is 200g.
I still need to optimize the location of the Center of Gravity.
Wind speed was measured at 8mph.

Note the smoke from the massive ongoing fire.

Scratch built Crossbow model airplane.

Motorized version of the Crossbow slope glider , with simplified fuselage , and a KFM4 wing (symmetric top and bottom steps) , 36" wingspan. Dollar Tree Foam covered with doculam, aka "the new stuff".

2204 brushless motor , 25g , 2300 RPM/V . Four Stick motor mount.

5x4.5 propeller 10A ESC, 3S

800 mAh LiPo battery,

2x 9g servos

motor and prop were salvaged from a donated drone "corpse".

some details:
Made with coroplast ( 32cm wide x 41 cm long ) ,

brushless motor 50 g , kv =1100

8" x 4.5" GWS propeller ,

2200 mAh 3S battery.

The vertical stabilizer and rudder are from a Radian Glider.

CG at 24% of the actual wing, (disregard the front side bumpers , they do not count ) , CG is at 13.5 cm from the front bumpers
The wing plank has a 4 degree angle of attack . The thrust line is at 0 degree , i.e. parallel to the ground.
The exhaust section of the duct ( 120 cm^2 ) , is smaller than the intake ( 210 cm^2 ) .

Also, made certain that a large fraction of the prop wash went directly into the lower duct., by lowering the motor as much as possible.
eventually made it into a four wheeler, as shown in the CG picture.

2m wingspan, beautiful flyer ! AUW is 600g = 21oz.

Built like a DLG, carbon tube fuselage, lightening holes in the tail feathers, pull- spring drive for rudder and elevator.

AUW is 948g or 33.44 oz. Motor is from the Freewing Moray : 3040 , Kv = 1400 , weight = 114 gram ,
3S 2200 mAh LiPo battery.
8*6 MAS S2 propeller , Static current is 19A full throttle.
8*8 APC propeller , Static current is 25A full throttle. (much better choice)

After years in the attic, finally saw the light of day , and got a maiden flight ! great success !

so, I made a delta with 45 degree swept wings, wingspan is 29" ( 75 cm ) .
inspired by the "Lil Ripper" by goldguy.


used this material which I had available:
  • Dollar Store foam-board, paper off.
  • 2204 brushless motor , 25g , 2300 RPM/V . Stick mount. 5x4.5 propeller
  • 12A ESC
  • 2S 300 mAh LiPo battery
  • 2x Futaba S3114 servos
  • credit card for opposite side of the stick mount. tape and gorilla glue.
AUW is 5.9 oz = 167 g
motor and prop were salvaged from a donated drone "corpse".
They were meant for 3S , but I decided to use just 2S. no need for more power and noise !
