Whipped this up for an everyday kick around plane and also for SEFF. It's 47" ws. I simply enlarged a good 3 view and kept the scale outlines except for the fuse width of course.
Has a RC Timer 3536-11 750 kv with a PZ Me-109 3 bladed prop on 3s lipo.
Also tried one of HK's orange DSM2 receiver's and it worked flawless on the maiden. This plane flies just great and with 250 watts and 32 oz AUW will surprise you with it's performance. With full up elev on low rates and the washout in the wing, it will glide forward in a very flat glide with no dropping of a wingtip. Amazing little plane and a whole lot of fun.

A little late in adding this one but here's a link to the build thread.
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1389907

Built from an enlarged 3 view. Used a semi-symmetrical airfoil. Wing panels hot wired and balsa sheeted, glass with 3/4 oz cloth and epoxy.
1/8th scale, 57" ws. Fiberglass fuse and fillet section. Removable wing panels. Power is a Scorpion 3020-1200 with a 9x7.5 APC prop on 4 cells. Took two 4s-3200 lipos in parallel to balance. AUW at maiden was 83 oz. Flew right off the board, good speed, great glide of course. Trying to get it painted before SEFF arrives April 9th.

Nov 10, 2010
Maidened with canopy and rear sidelights taped on. 39 oz AUW with a 3s-2200.
First launch went bad, stalled due to rear CG and hit hard but very little damage. Added 1 oz weight to nose, launched again. Short story, flew great. On to paint.

Thought I should add an old thread I did several yrs ago. It may be outdated somewhat on finishing methods but some things never change and still a ton of info in there. At the end there is a link to "Part Deux". They are both pretty long but a lot of interaction with others on finishing methods.

Dave Platt, Mr Scale Modeler, maidened his new DH Hornet at SEFF this year. The plane crashed due to a battery coming loose and falling out. I asked Dave for the tail section and told him what I wanted to do with it. He graciously donated it to me and I made a plaque to mount it too. A great addition to my shop!
Checking it out, you can see the attention to detail and the quality work he does.

Here is the video of the last flight.

78" ws B-24 J Model
Designed by my buddy Dave Stack it is my first retract bird and first 4 motor model too. Tons of help from Stacker on everything from setting up the retracts to selecting the correct power system to him even turning on his lathe the beautiful alum spinners. Basically all I did was build the plane and paint it.
Plan on maidening it at Vegas 2010 Oct 1-3.
The model I built is a replica of the "Shootin' Star", B-24J-25-CO-(42-73249)
It operated out of China and was lost on Mar 12, 1945
Fun build but let me tell you, 4 engine planes are a lot of work!

Maiden was done Feb 19, 2010.

Video taken at Ace in the Hole at Vegas Oct 2010
Due to an failed bungee launch, she sustained some aileron and flap damage that I didn't notice and we launched again. So she didn't fly as well as she could have. Amazing that it flew as well as it did but Nut had to fight it quite a bit the entire flight.

Sorry, no buld thread for this one. Too bad, one of my best fliers.
But there is video from ATIS at SEFF.
John Morgan's F9F Cougar at SEFF (5 min 31 sec)

Pic of the Cougar and Panther together. I don't have a thread on the Panther either, it was built right before the Cougar.
The Pantehr was built off Pat Tritles old balsa plan that used a brushed motor and nicads. His flew at around 50 oz AUW. I built this of foam and used BL and lipos and it came out about 34 oz. Flies Great! It did so well that I modified his Panther plan into the Cougar. Cougar flies even better!
