I recently had so much fun doing a build log of the HobbyMate X130, that I decided to do another build. This time I went with something a bit larger, and will be doing a build of the new Dubai 225 kit. This kit can be purchased here, click me, and is packed with some top quality hardware. Much like the last build, I will break this down into multiple parts, and will update the thread as the build progresses. First things first, let's get everything unboxed and see just what we have here.

Quick test flight shows that all is well Even the tune feels pretty good. I will get it in the air more tomorrow. Full flight video coming soon!

SPCMAKER has been making some really nice micro FPV racers. Their lineup includes brushed, and brushless models in the 90mm class. A couple months ago I took a look at their SPC90X model, which I really enjoyed, so I was pretty confident that I would also like the SPC90 with its 10mm motors, and F3 EVO flight controller. I'm quite happy to report that even on 1s power this little quad is great! It is very stable, and has more power than I was expecting for a 1s micro. This quad can also be flown on 2s simply by changing a bridge on the board, but for backyard flying I have found 1s to be plenty quick, and lots of fun.

Here's a quick overview of the specs. As you can see this quad is available with Frsky, Flysky, or DSM2 receivers, so the majority of pilots have a BNF model available to them. Click me.

Specifications:
General
Model: SPC90
Wheelbase: 90mm
Material: 3K carbon fiber
Size: 63.5 x 63.5 x 32mm
Frame weight: 6.5g
Takeoff weight: 55g
Motor: 8520 3.7V coreless motor
Flight time: 5 - 6 minutes
Flight controller: F3 EVO brushed 2.0
Processor: STM32F303CCT6
Camera: 600TVL
FPV transmitter: 5.8G 25mW 48CH
Receiver: DSM2 Satellite / FrSky SBUS PPM / FlySky PPM
Battery: 3.7V 500mAh 25C
Propeller length: 55mm

Here are some pics of my SPC90. If you're looking for a well built micro that you can FPV around your house, or yard with, then this little model is definitely worthy of your consideration. Flight video coming shortly so stay tuned. As always, feel free to ask any questions. Happy Flying!

I'd like to give a big thanks to Hobbymate for sending me this X130 brushless quad kit for review. In this blog post I will be doing a complete build log, with set up, configuration, and flight video. I will break this build down into a few different parts, and update with each new part as I progress through the build. As always feel free to ask any questions. Here we go with some pics.

This combo kit includes all the parts necessary to assemble the frame, the PDB, and FC stack, and the pod for the FPV camera. It also includes four HOBBYMATE BLHeli_S 20A ESC's, four HOBBYMATE 1306 3100kv Motors (2 CW & 2 CCW) eight 3 inch props, battery straps, and all necessary hardware. You will need to supply your choice of flight controller, power distribution board, FPV gear, and battery.

It's ALIVE!! Quick video of the first test flight on 3s. More flight video coming soon so stay tuned!

The new WLtoys Q393-C is a sleek looking quad, that caught my attention the first time I saw it. I immediately thought that this quad would make a great night flyer with all of its bright lights, and its well lit arms. As it turns out, I was right. It does make a great night flyer. In fact it is all around a great flying quad, with good flight times, and a half decent camera.

I've put a couple packs through the quad so far, and as of now my only real complaint, is that I wish it had a bit more angle in high rates mode. It does well enough to fight some wind, but a bit more forward speed would have been nice. Beginners, and intermediate pilots just stepping into a larger brushed quad, should find this to be a good performer. It has good lift, a stable hover, and the altitude hold actually works pretty well.

What I like the most about this quadcopter though is that it has telemetry that sends flight battery voltage, and flight speed in KM/H back to the radio, and the radio also has a timer that lets you know how long you have been in the air. These are features rarely seen on a quad in this price range, and are very cool to see on a quad costing under $100.

We finally got a break in the crazy winds we have been having so I managed to get a bit of flight video.

The AKK Store on Amazon has been adding some new products, and offering quadcopters, parts, accessories, and FPV cameras to their customers with Amazon order fulfillment. This means Amazon purchase protection, and free 2 day shipping for Prime members. One of the products, the Heliway 901HS micro quadcopter, caught my interest with its small size, folding design, and transmitter with built in storage for the quad itself. Upon receiving my 901 I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it is also a great flying little quad, and is a lot of fun inside the house. Best part is it can be had for only $22.99 Here are some detailed pics of what you get.

I will get some flight video posted shortly so stay tuned.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions.
