Needful Things - High Quality, Large Cutting Mat

Here is a link to the Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESDmSR3bwlE

I have used this mat for over a year now and the side I have been using still looks new.
I design and build RC Planes from foam board, so many, many, many cuts on this cutting mat.
This is a very high quality, large cutting mat that I am so glad I found.
The price on this makes it a very good value indeed ;-)

Here is a link to this Cutting Mat:

24 in. x 36 in. 5-Ply Cutting Mat, Green/Black
http://www.usartsupply.com/USA-CM-24X36-GB

Item # USA CM-24X36-GB

Key Features:

Durable 5-Ply Self Healing Construction
1/2" grid with 1/8" marks for precise alignment as well as 45° and 60° guides.
The green/black mats are reversible with grid markings on each side.
Cutting mats also have lines for cutting diagonals
Protect your table top from sharp blades, writing instruments and other art and craft tools.

Details:

These 3mm thick PVC mats feature a durable 5-layer construction, a non-slip, non-glare surface, 1" grid with 1/2" marks for precise alignment as well as 30, 45°, 60° & 90 angle guides. Resilient self-healing surface won't break down with repeated use and actually prolongs the life of knife blades. Each cutting mat is reversible with grid markings on each side.

Errors at the other end of the tow line.

The first time I went for a sailplane demo ride I was sitting up front in a 2-22, a bit uncertain about what it was all about. I had already soloed in the Champ and I was out to expand my aviation horizons. It really was a first lesson but as a demo ride I got away cheap, a flat rate with no commitment to continue if I didn't like it. I also knew that it would be a long demo with lots of stick time and a sales pitch for glider flying since I was already a student pilot.

We were hooked to the tow plane but short one tow pilot. Finally an amiable young guy showed up complete with 'chute and after a brief discussion hopped into the Supercub to tow us off to adventure. That adventure was both more exciting and much shorter than expected. I'm certain that the tow pilot was even more surprised than we were.

I can only guess what the conversation between the pilot and the guy who was hooking up sailplanes on the long, busy line we were at the front of, but my guess is that it went like this. "Hi Fred"(or whatever his name was) "Joe went to lunch, why don't you take the Supercub?" "Great! Thanks." says our hero and jumps into the Cub, runs up the engine to full throttle, with never a look back. He seems to have thought that he had been offered the Cub for a joy ride.

This was my first glider ride ever and I thought it looked a bit odd but sat there watching until we were catapulted into the air...Continue Reading

Well, It seems I've completely lost track of time. I've had a decent series of ups-and-downs over the past year, and nearly no time to appropriately stop and drop updates over the time that has passed.

I'm going to make an attempt to quickly cover the major stuff, and get caught up on the more vital things.
Minus being off by about seven months... I'll quickly nail down a summary of the 2018 Weak Signals show from earlier in the year.
This may just end up being a large photo dump, but it's a start.

The turnout was great, as per usual... Though the prize amounts were cut this year for unknown reasons.
The indoor fly was a hit as well. I had the opportunity to take the Savionus rotor up, as well as a few of my other unique designs.

Just a quick peek at the rotor, for those who have not seen it yet:

On a side note, The HCT-1800 managed to take first place in the multirotor class, too.

I'm going to cut this one abnormally short, as It's getting late, and I've got quite a bit more catching up to do before I'll have everything up to date here. Fingers crossed.

This is not a review !
Came this morning , @ 64mm EDF .

A) There were no screws for mounting the motor to the EDF ??? ( Whats going on Hobbyking )
B) Tightening the blades to the motor shaft , nope .. Really hard to achieve ..
C) EDF body is a little flimsy , you really need the induction lip glued in place ..
D) Vibration ! , traced back to the nose cone ..

3s -
Using my Predator 40A ESC I saw a full 40A and then some at full power ..
It really has some thrust at this power level ..

Thrust starts at about 5A and by the time you get to 10A there is decent thrust .
At 15A the thrust is getting serious .. At 40A the thrust is very impressive to this EDF noob .
At 40A there was no cooking , but there was some warmth ..

2s -

At maximum power I saw some 26A and the thrust was impressive . I honestly dont see why this combo could not work on 2s .. Ok you wont break any speed records but you will most likely not cook anything either and still have decent flight performance . Obviously model weight will dictate performance .

Wow , my first EDF ..

If somebody wants to see how servo motor works here's the animation which explains it in easy-to-understand way.

How servo motor works (4 min 4 sec)

I've made this movie about 10 years ago, then I forgot about it and today I was looking for something in the internet and I landed on this forum. Because movie is still actual I would like to share with you. I hope this animation will be helpful for someone.

Cheers,

Not a bad truck for an intermediate. It has fully proportional steering and throttle. Powered by a 390 brushed motor and 2s 1500mah Li-On battery. Add some oil filled shocks and you'd be set.

My Long Range combo is here, FrSky R9M 900MHz Long Range Transmitter Module and R9 MM Telemetry Receiver.
Price of 45$ for this combo is unbelievable.

I will be using this combo in my new LR build, details are here.

R9M Description:
FrSky R9 and R9M radio control system is the first FrSky long range system which works in the frequency of 900MHz. The R9M module offers 4 switchable
RF power outputs to so you can choose the appropriate power for different flight situations. Compared to another FrSky 2.4GHz long range receiver like the
L9R, the R9 receiver has a longer operating range up to 10KM and above. Moreover, the R9 is also a redundancy receiver which can connect to another
receiver to ensure the security of your aircraft.

For external batteries, suggest to use 2S or below!

Specifications:
