Trialing some hydro dipping for effects on some old tails. I like the flames against the carbon socked boom. Just need to get better at the technique then I'll do the whole tail assembly. The chrome film looks worth a shot to. Its a lot lighter then the chrome paint.

Finally had time to finish the plug and give it a quick polish. The ally comes up good with little work after the CNC is finished with it.

Off the machine this arvo. Think its moved a little as the canopy depression is off by about 0.1mm you can see in the tool marks one of the front mount bolts had stripped and worked free. Nothing to clock it up against so I'll mount it on the other billet and use that as a fixture plate to rerun the recess and cut the excess out of the canopy step.Should have rough out that area whilst I was doing the rest of the roughing, at least it pushed away and not into the job. Photos straight off the machine no polishing or sanding yet.

Think I've gone abit overboard with the finish, 0.1mm stepover tied to the cad model 0.005mm tolerance running a 12mm ballnose DNC link struggling to keep up with over a million lines of G Code to process every 5 microns spent most of the day running the other machine and looking into a new control for the old girl, she's a good machine but lacks the memory for this kind of work at this size and type of work. But the finish is fantastic!! no polishing on the machine still going.

Start roughing, knocked the top down with a 40mm endmill. Then start roughing contour with a 12mm endmill 8mm stepover.

This photo may show the mounting arrangement better bolted from the bottom then set up square and clamped from top only m6 bolts though so rough with clamps on then finish held only by bolts.

Prep mounting fixtures and packing blocks to allow the ball nose to machine past the center line of the plug halves.
