3 INCH DRONE BUILD SETUP (17 min 11 sec)

A few videos ago, we asked the question which frame should we use to build our 3-Inch Micro FPV Quadcopter, the FlexRC Ascent 3 HD or the HGLRC Arrow 3 Hybrid. At that time "The People's Choice" was the FlexRC Ascent 3 HD and it has turned out to be my favorite flyer-Thank You!

Now, we build out the other 3 inch drone frame, the HGLRC Arrow 3 Hybrid. Why is it a “hybrid?” The front arms are a stretched-X type (narrower) and the rear arms are a “normal-X” type (standard). Theoretically, this "hybrid configuration" should create more stability on the pitch axis and enable smoother and tighter cornering around turns (like on rails!). FPV FlightClub has used this hybrid configuration in their latest racing frames the 5" Proton-R and Neutron-R. One of the (if not, THE) best FPV Race Pilots in the world, Captainvanover, is running this hybrid setup starting this race season!

We complete our Hybrid 3 Inch Drone Build with our own custom components (not the ones which come with the BNF version of this HGLRC Arrow 3 Quad). In the video, we show a complete list of the components we use along with each of their weights, the overall dry weight of the build and the All-Up Weight along with the Thrust-to-Weight Ratio of this build in comparison with that of the FlexRC Ascent 3 HD. Guess which one wins that contest! What do you think of this Hybrid configuration? Also, the 2nd of 3 “Keywords” is revealed to unlock the Mystery of our upcoming announcement. Take a Guess for your chance to Win!

Where can I fly? This is one of the most asked questions by new FPV pilots. The U.S. FAA came out with new rules/guidelines yesterday (May 17, 2019) regarding the recently enacted new law. It’s really not complicated. With the use of Airmap, a simple-to-use and FREE software application for both your mobile phone and desktop, along with a basic understanding of the rules, its easy to find a place to have Fun! The video below shows you how. Although its primarily speaking to a U.S. audience, Airmap works elsewhere as well! Just a happy user of this App. Happy Flying!

After two weeks, the people have spoken and have chosen the FlexRC Ascent 3 HD frame over the HGLRC Arrow 3 Hybrid frame for our 3 inch Micro FPV Quad build. Installed an on-board Runcam Mini DVR fed by the new Caddx Ratel Camera. Picture-in-picture displays of flight footage for both on-board DVR and transmitted video to goggles DVR for comparison. Short clip of build precedes flight footage. PIDS & rates shown at beginning of flight video.

Nano-sized Quad with MEGA-sized FUN! We explored the capabilities of the R3DShifters R3DWhoop Ion, a 3D Printed FPV Race Drone! If you’ve never heard of R3D Shifters, it is a company based out of New York City, USA. R3D Shifters currently has 4 different frame kits all made from carbon fiber/nylon filament and 3D printed. This one we have a blast with today is the R3DWhoop Ion. We take it out to a local park and put it through a test of its flight capabilities. Let me tell you, this Little Guy can Rip! On cheap 2S batteries! Wow, this was fun!

We're About to build a 3” Micro. Of course, we need a frame. There's SO many out there, how do we choose which one? Came up with 8 important parameters to make a comparison between frames. Used 2 frames to walk through process of comparing those 8 different parameters for choosing ANY frame and compiled data on 31 3-Inch frames from 21 manufacturers in the form of a Micro FPV 3" Frames Guide. Might help others when trying to decide between frames.

Would appreciate your opinion - 1st attempt at answering question: “What’s the best motor for . . ?” Simple 5-Step Method & 1st Edition Micro FPV Motor Chart with 33 different motors ranging from 40 mm – 3 inch prop support and 2S – 4S. Looking👀 for your feedback on both the 5-Step Method & the Chart. Well-versed & experienced pilots may have this stuff down pat, yet others may not. Thought this could help some folks out, as at least a reference. Your thoughts please?

I know these Quaddiction Pop-up gates have been around for a while, however, now RMRC has them at a reduced price of $49.99 for two! Also, you can get an ADDITIONAL 11% OFF by using Coupon Code: POTOFGOLD through March 17th! 😲 So, I couldn’t pass that up! This is my first experience with them and I was completely impressed. Did a quick comparison with Multi-GP standard size gates for 5-inch Quads, review of features, and initial setup. Also, created a simple, easy-to-use instruction sheet for initial setup.

Starting a "Mini-Series" on potentially Great video transmitters (VTXs) for Micro Quad Builds. This is the first in that mini-series. Recently purchased the TBS Unify Pro Race 2 VTX because of TBS reputation for great quality VTXs, MMCX Connector, Audio Input Pad (allows for external microphone connection for audio in earbud while flying and also on DVR video), small size, and Only 4 grams! Reviewed features, physical size dimensions, and concluded with two flights (side-by-side) on both the minimum and maximum output power settings. What do you think of both the video and audio quality? Enjoy!
