Just a bunch of dirty metal pieces. Disassembly was straight forward, a few stripped head bolts that needed careful drilling and extraction. Back plate was tight due to the cam gears being stuck. Heat and Kroil did the trick.

I've been asked a lot about it.

At one time I had 21 motorcycles, mostly classic Hondas and BMW's. Towards the end of my flying career, I went around the world twice a month. I kept a bike I bought in Frankfurt-am-Main at a garage in London, and would go exploring the British countryside on layovers. I was north of Birmingham in the Midlands and had started looking for a petrol station, without success. Of course, in the middle of nowhere, at dusk, it started running on 3, then 2. There was an opening in the fenceline along the road, and a dirt road led down a small ravine into the woods. From the road, in the silence, I could hear minstrel-type music, and see a bonfire. I put it in neutral, and coasted into a campground full of people partying.

It was a nudist camp.

I contributed to the camp general fund and was served a meal of I dunno, but the beer was good, and the scenery was great.

I woke up the next morning, having slept better than at any Marriott in town. I bartered for a gallon of gas, and cranked the batt down before realizing a downhill rolling start was going to be my only hope. I started pushing the bike up the dirt road to get to the highway. Three 'helpers' joined me to help push up the hill. We rested once up there, and after saying our goodbyes, two pushed me to get rolling, and after it started, I went back to get my helmet.

When I got back to Kensington, I discovered the pic on my phone cam, which was in my helmet when I left.

Every time I see that pic, I wish I had gotten names and numbers.

For anyone who might have missed these goggles during Banggoods Anniversary Sale or was waiting on reviews before purchasing.

But if you enter Coupon Code: EV100 at checkout the price will drop down to $99.99.

Stabilized spherecam at 10mph & timelapse (1 min 50 sec)

1st motion stabilized spherecam footage. No more black borders.

It could almost pass for usable. There was a lot of math in rotating the spherical image. The solution was in an obscure library

https://github.com/FoxelSA/libgnomonic.git

For motion tracking, the transformation needs to be centered around a movable pivot, so it really needs to do 3 transformations. It first moves the pivot point to the center of the image, then performs the requested transformation, then moves the pivot point back to the pivot point. The fastest solution on a modern CPU is applying 3 matrices to each pixel instead of copying the image 3 times. Combining the 3 matrices through multiplication didn't work, so it's a very slow process.

Let me start out by saying I'm not associated with Hitec in any way, except that I bought one of their radio sets. I'm just posting about how much I lvoe it and can't get over what a good deal I got, and that I'm surprised not to see more of them around.

I still find it amazing that almost 2 years after I bought it you can still get this deal at this price... this is in Aus. dollars so the numbers are higher than in the USA. Middle of the 3rd row of this page:
https://www.modelflight.com.au/catal...SAAEgIrUfD_BwE

That's the same deal i got, only it was from a different supplier who has now closed down. Mine was $10 cheaper at the time. So for $AUD 499 it's the Aurora 9X (not the plain 9, the 9X is better), Optima 9 rx with telemetry, 4 servos (Hs-5484HB), HD switch harness with a charging point, Tx battery with a basic wall charger, a crappy plastic cage for 4 rechargeable AA rechargeables for the Rx (I wouldn't use it, but it's handy for charging my TV remote etc) and various hardware. The same pack without servos is $50 less... or look at it this way, add 4 reasonable servos for $50. Right now one AUD is worth 78c US, so the package I got would be about $US 390. I still think that's a great deal for all that stuff. The Tx alone is $399 AUD, and the Optima 9 I think is almost $100 these days (for a while it was actually cheaper than the 7 channel).

I've posted before how much I like this radio and I know others who know what they're talking about (eg. hobby store staff)...Continue Reading

I have just finished my first 250 frame build and was thinking about building a smaller one like around 130 or 100mm. I was hoping somebody can give me a good frame to use and the not the hardest one to work with and maybe some parts that would be the right size because, I am a little stuck on what the sizes are for the motors and the motherboard. If anybody can help I would appreciate it.

I put this build together thinking about the weight of my quad and how the builds feather weight will make it a whole other type of beast... With that being said I never expected to be able to mount a hero GoPro box style cam and still come in lighter then all my previous builds without anything added.... After mounting a big5 GPS I reached 103MPH so I believe without this extra weight and with bi props the top end speed would be even greater!!!
Also I did all of this with 4s... wait for the 5& 6s packs!!

Meet Slinky.

A perfectly good tarot X6 which flew fine on AC3.5.1.Using a Taranis it had great control range. And 5.8GHz video transmission.I got a Solo and it spoiled me for 720p video feed. So,with the help of some enthusiastic others,I've stuck the Sololink part of the Solo (an iMX6 co-computer) and now use a Solo controller and pad for FPVness.

I'm using a carrier board from Nicolas Chaslot which communicates with the Pixhack V3 by MAVlink over the telemetry channel. The radio control is sent to the Pixhack through the DSM port. The whole rig should have a similar range to the Taranis but with more visual HUD real time telemetry.I'll hopefully get the Solo gimbal on there soon for full camera control and it will take another full sized gimbal for the BMMCC with it's own radio and video link to the operator.

When you've got to bodge it.

Hi, I sometimes really stretch the boundaries of off-topic, and something came up on Club Saito that I'd like to continue if anyone's interested, so here's a place for that. I have a neighbour who was a fighter and bomber pilot, and bomber navigator, in WW2, single engined fighters (I don't know what off-hand so I'll ask him again before I try and specify what types) and definitely Beaufort bombers. Of course I'm fascinated to know whatever he'd like to say about flying those classic types, but actually I like the guy in his own right, not just because he's a flyer. He's a genuinely good bloke. I offered to come and help out with things he can't easily do himself, such as lifting or climbing ladders. He's still pretty game and doing remarkably well for a chap in his 90's, but he knows what'd happen if he fell off a ladder so he's wise enough to ask for help when he needs it, and it's a great excuse to have a chat with a nice, interesting fella.

We stopped and had a nice quiet beer, and he likes to chat but of course I always wish he'd tell me all about aircraft (I know better than to ask him to talk about the war, like most actual vet's I've met who were expected to take lives as part of their duty, he simply won't talk about it). But he knows I love my RC planes, and I said hold on, I'll go grab my laptop and show you some videos, and he was interested to see. I showed him some favourites, like the B-25 with twin Moki radials (really screams, that one, I wonder if it's...Continue Reading

Ive been waiting for what seems like an eternity to build this, getting the frame was a bit of a circus. All bought and paid for , no freebie jeebies. All the bits are listed below and i will get footage as soon as i can , camera will eventually be swapped for a Runcam i think. The black stuff is silicon , its wet around here atm lol , motors are "dampened" using 2 layers of heatshrink. Props are Dal Cyclones , Tail light is an adjustable LED battery monitor , very light pun intended.
