Great year of flying, but really wanted to learn helicopters. I can handle micros pretty good, but just never got comfortable with my Blade 450 3D. When I saw the new Blade 230 S, I knew it would be perfect for me. After 10 flights I'm impressed and pleased with this new bird and learning technology.

Well Christmas was good to my son and I and we picked up 3 planes. My wall area was maxed out so I had to come up with something. I made this with 3: 2x4, 4 adjustable shelf for the wall, 24: 12" shelf supports and 2 4 packs of pipe insulation.

I had a great day, this followed me home from TN.
I traded my Kantana 50 to a fellow pilot in TN that had two and wanted it! I think we both did great on the deal and I can't wait to fly her.
She is big and beautiful. The upgraded 6" inflatable Dubro wheels are a nice touch.

A few weeks ago I spent a lot of time at the club field helping out people with their planes. Lately I've been getting handed the sticks on a lot of new planes for members and friends to do the test flights. Which is how I ended up with a used Hanger 9 Kantana 50.
The previous owner was having trouble with the plane and asked for me to look it over and see if I could get it adjusted / trimmed out. The plane looks sharp and is big at 59" wingspan. He had it glow powered and the engine was just not behaving very well. On my first take off the plane shot straight up indicating some pitch trim issues to say the least
The motor seemed strong enough to pull her up but then just died. I managed to get her back down with no damage and we went back and adjusted the motor for a second flight. Second flight went well, but the motor just felt very sluggish and the plane just needed a bit of attention stay airborne. I advised the owner that the motor / power plant need some attention and checking. But he said he was just not bonding with the plane and offered it to me. We worked a trade deal and a week later I picked up a bare airframe.
I decided to use all the extra parts from my backup Splendor which was nice because I have all metal gear digital servos and the AS3X 635 RX.
Rudder Servo was a left over from the previous owner and I didn't fell like changing out the cables and servo arm to Eflite at this time. It seems plenty quick to me for my type of flying (sport, with F3A and some mild 3D)
I picked up a used Eflite Power 60 and ESC from RC groups and even found some new wheel pants to make her look very pretty!
Weight came in at 6.2 lbs!

6cell 3300 mah 40C
APC Prop 16x8 (48 Amps, 1050 watts) or 15x8 (38 Amps, 830 watts) on Watt Meter
eCalc says 4 min - 8 min flight time

Well I got a very neat kit to build called the Air Boss from Sig. The laser cut parts are amazing and the quality is just outstanding. I put this all together yesterday in less then 2 hrs.
I got this one because my 7 year old daughter asked to buddy box with me and we don't have a trainer any more.
Should be able to frame up the wing tonight.

My first Dollar Tree Foam Board Plane, built from Flit Test Plans and instructions! It was a total blast and took about 1 day to get the basic air-frame finished. Then spent time adding details, sort of got carried away with details but was easy and fun.
Well I think I have just about given up on glow and converted to all electric now! I still love the glow planes for the sound and smell, but for my son and I it has become quicker to just grab our electric planes and fly.
He has been doing great on a Firebird Startos for several weeks now. The other pilots at our club field have noted several times how great his flying is. This is a great plane for a beginner and has become my recommendation to new people wanting to try RC flying.
I've been flying a Radian Pro since January, and have been loving the enjoyment of soaring. Nothing like sitting back in a chair watching a sailplane fly overhead! However I did note that my son was not into the glider thing so I thought I would get a second plane to fly with him. I ended up with the Parkzone Albatros, it is a very cool looking plane and is a lot of fun to fly with him in formation!
We are still flying micros, but the glow planes have been sitting for several months now.

Just having a ball getting back into the RC sport again. I've been back at flying for almost a year now with my son (7 years old) and we have been making a lot of progress. We have out old rebuilt 60" .40 glow trainer, a couple of cheap medium electric planes that haven't worked out great. We have a small fleet of co-ax blades and a couple of micro park fliers. Just a couple of fleet photos for the blog.
