After working through some of the kinks with the FT Simple Cub, I managed to add another kink by bending the prop shaft. I had actually never done that before. But I guess all that lawn darting can lead to it. I didn't even realize it had happened until I had done some repairs and was ready to fly it again.

To go along with the Flitetest forum's challenge Getting stupid with the Tiny Trainer, here's a video of my first flight and crash of the FT Tiny Trainer. I thought for this flight I'd be trying to get it trimmed out, but I spent more time going all over the place with it. Damage was pretty minor on the crash. I originally imagined this plane as kinda floaty but really on 3 cell power it's kind of a handful. Enjoy!

So after breaking one of my last plywood Flitetest firewalls I checked out some alternative options for some DIY firewalls. Taking a similar approach to what nerdnic had done (he used a plastic trashcan), I found a plastic dishpan from the dollar store and started cutting away. Once I got to the usable parts of the dishpan, I was able to cut out with scissors 30+ plastic firewalls that are lightweight and durable. All for probably just $3.

Announcing the retirement of my original FT Mini Scout airframe. So what's next for the FT Mini this the end of it? Will there be a Version 2?

Yup, finally got some maiden flight airtime for the FT Simple Cub (3ch). And I even managed to get a crash out of it too on this maiden. So takeoff was pretty uneventful and the flight started out fine. But the wind picked up and I needed to bring her around to go back the other direction (towards the camera). To help combat the wind I flipped up to my high rates and apparently I must have had my high rates too high over the recommended settings. Ended up overcontrolling it until it finally hit the ground. Despite the sound of the crash, damage was pretty minimal.

The camera angle was not great as I was expecting to fly closer to the camera...but as you can see that didn't quite happen! I'll be testing out a new head camera setup here soon so hopefully angles will get a little better. But for right now, you can enjoy this distant brief maiden flight and smack on the pavement.

All right, here is the 3rd flight of the FT Mini Scout as part of the FT Mini Scout newbie challenge from the Flitetest Forums. Got the left bank issue sorted and it flies pretty good.

So I've been caught in the Flitetest Forum and their forum what are they?

Another build I am doing in this build challenge is a foamboard profile plane. It is somewhat based off of a foamy scratchbuilt design here on RCGroups called "The Nasty" as well as a few other designs. Always thought profile planes were kinda neat and figured this would be a good cheap tool for practicing advanced maneuvers with.

As part of a build challenge that I participated in on the FT forums, I picked out the FT Tiny Trainer as one of my next builds. So here is the intro video to the FT Tiny Trainer. The FT Tiny Trainer is a versatile plane that can be used as a chuck glider or RC. It also has the ability to grow with the ability of the pilot by offering a polyhedral glider wing and a separate sport wing with ailerons. So you can go from 3 channel to 4 channel just by changing the wing. I'm going to start doing the plane as a 3 channel and see how it does.

As part of a build challenge that I participated in on the FT forums, I picked out the FT Bloody Baron as one of my next builds. So here is the intro video to the FT Bloody Baron. The Bloody Baron is a Dan Sponholz design which Dan is one of the main guys who helps with Flitetest downloadable plans. The plane looks like a lot of fun and gets all sorts of can't wait to try it out!

Here is the maiden flight and crash of the FT Long EZ. Due to the spinning prop it made me a little nervous on launching this the first time so I definitely think my launch was weak. After the experience though and seeing what it was like, I don't feel so bad on launching...may even try some different techniques next time. The front canards did break in the crash but that should be a quick fix.

In response to Ethan RC, in this video I show a basic idea of the measurements for adding ailerons to the Mini Scout as well as a neat approach to doing your own control horns:

Here is the 2nd flight of the FT Mini Scout. No crash this time. Still got some more tweaking to do, but pretty decent overall for a 2nd flight.

Our RC club (Skyhawks-Tri State Model Flyers) holds a mall show each year to show people what we do and attract some new members. Here's footage from this year's mall show on Feb 16-17.

I had been wanting a transmitter glove for a while so I could do some RC stuff in the winter. Well I finally obtained one here recently and even though I've only used it once, it has proven to be a great investment. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to do some RCing in the cold temperatures. The one I got was made by a company called SENREAL and can be purchased on Amazon for under $20. Here is a link to the product and my video review:

After getting some high praises from other folks and the Flitetest forums I decided to add the Flitetest Mini Scout to my list of Flitetest planes to check out. I would definitely rank it up there with one of the easier builds due to the limited number of pieces and not having to do any foldovers with the wing. Unlike the original design, I tweaked this one a little by making it a 4 channel and adding ailerons. There is not much involved in making this transition if you would want to do it. Just measure and mark out how big you want your aileron control surface to be and then glue in a control horn and servo.

Below is my introduction video to the plane as well as a short maiden flight video with a small crash. More flights to come in the future!

Actual maiden test run of the foamboard snow skimmer! One of those rare moments where we had just enough snow to try it out. Even managed to crash it as well, luckily damage was pretty minimal.

That's right! The old Hangar 9 Easy 2 balsa trainer is pieces. Have plans to do some crash repairs to the plane as well as a new covering job. And once that is done, I'll be putting all the electronics back in. So, it's got a long road ahead of it. Here's the latest video on this project...
