Hello ensemble,

I put together a spreadsheet about horn length, surface movements etc.
Let me know if you can make good use of it how to improve or if anyone finds mistakes.

Hi ensemble,

I did an Mobius cam incliner mount for the Vortex 285.
It's made in 1.5mm fiberglass, cut on CNC router.

Weight is 20g. Considering the original plate is 7gr already, swapping it there are as little as 13g added to the front, plus 39g for the Mobius and a couple of grams for straps.

It mounts directly on the original layout.
Piloting cam holes are the same as original.

The Mobius lens is perfectly centered with the frame and tilted by 20.

Pieces are simply glued with cyanoacrylate glue.

The original idea was to made it with an interchangeable angle plate. I could consider making few other with different angles if that one does not match well. I usually tilt the piloting cam about 20-30.


P.s.: if there is interest I could consider making a batch, eventually in black fiberglass (no worth making it in carbon)....Continue Reading

Hi all,

after a lot of research, programming, setting and tuning, I'm proud to announce that my Proxima II went in flight.

It was already, but without any autopilot, only to set the right controls, trims, CG and wings angle of attack.

Now it is fully autonomous. This is the more complex autopilot equipped plane I ever build.

yes, I piloted both at the same time

The main plane is a FunCub equipped with UavDevBoard and on board tracking video camera. The autopilot is programmed to let the camera follow the target plane.
The second plane, the target plane, is a stock EasyStar, carrying another UavDevBoard, only to send its position.
I took off with the FunCub and put it in autonomous mode. Me having in my hands two RC transmitters, my son kindly launched for me the EasyStar and I drove it all the flight long.
The hardest part was try to stay in the camera turret range. The FunCub speed is set to 50km/h, but even at this speed it is a challenge to follow it and stay in front, with a fully stock EasyStar.
At the end of the flight (FunCub autonomy), my son asked to land his plane
I landed the FunCub.

I tried some dynamic soaring with a Skua from ArtHobby.
The plane is too much light, so the first attempt was not satisfactory.
I added some ballast and the results are in the video.
Still not optimal, but way better.
Next time I go there I hope to find again North wind, so I will try with some more ballast.

This is my first Funjet. It was build with the purpose to do autonomous high speed flight, with Bill Premerlani's UavDevBoard.
Top speed was clocked with GPS telemetry at 243Km/h.
