Overview
The ISDT T6 LiPo Smart Charger is a powerful device in a compact form factor. ISDT has a history of redefining equipment used in the RC hobby, specifically as it relates to battery management tools such as chargers, dischargers, and cell checking devices. In this review, I'll cover a mainstay piece of equipment in every electric RC Pilots arsenal, the LiPo Smart Charger.

The T6 is a DC only charger, so you have to provide the power input, it will not plug into your wall socket. Input voltage range is 8-32v which means you have a great deal of flexibility in choosing power input options. 2s - 6s batteries with XT60 connectors work great as power sources.

The user interface is operated with a push button pad near the bottom of the face plate. The center disc is the enter key, and the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions move the cursor around and navigate in and out of menu options.

ISDT always does a great job with graphics. Displays are crisp, color contrasts are bright and visible, and usually complimentary by western standards. Fonts are generally easy to read an the screens normally show just what the user needs to see. One complaint I have, and I hope ISDT figures out soon is the material covering the screen is quite soft and prone to scratching. I also noticed a flex of dust underneath my screen just above the "A" next to 0.0 on the top left. If this were my cell phone, it would be returned. Fortunately for me, it's just a tool, so that type of...Continue Reading

I recently got my hands on a ToolkitRC M8S "battery charger". They label this thing as a battery charger because they had to call it something. The truth is, it does far more than charge batteries. The naming convention ToolkitRC in this case is certainly not misplaced.

KEY SPECIFICATIONS
• DC Only Charger
• Input Voltage Range 7-30v
• Charge Output 400w at 18a
• Output Voltage 2s-8s
• Battery Types: LIPO, LIHV, LIFE, LION 1-8s, NIMH 1-20s, PB 1-12s
• Display 2.4" TFT LCD 65k Colors
• Discharge Power [email protected] Regen / [email protected] Internal
• USB Charger 5.0v @ 2.1a
• 98wx68lx35hmm

OVERVIEW
The thing that separates the M8S out from traditional chargers is the valued added functionality they include. In addition to a capable charge capacity of [email protected] (Confirmed on my YouTube Channel https://bit.ly/2QDOX02), the M8S also measures PWM, PPM, SBUS, IR, and has a simple 18a limited watt meter. In addition to measurements, the M8S also outputs PWM, PPM, SBUS and get this--it has a built in power CV/CC power supply supporting 1-30v out @ 1-18a. There are three functional categories on the M8S - Charger, Measurer, Output.

CHARGER
I ran bench tests using a 6s5000mah Turnigy LIPO as the input power supply and 2 6s5000 in parallel on the output side. The M8S quickly jumped up to 17a and happily hummed along charging the 2x6s packs at 400w for the duration of the test. Since that worked out to a ~2c charge rate, and my...Continue Reading
