The EVO is really nice. There's a few minor issues Autel needs to correct but the camera is stellar and it flies smooth. The dynamic tracking also works amazing. If Autel gets the bugs fixed soon then this will be a huge hit and serious competition to DJI.

Hi everyone,

Just starting into blogging and felt like talking about my first drone race. It was a bit of disaster for me. I barely had enough of the right equipment to even be in the race. I didn't have goggles that could pick up race band and the connector that went from my goggles to the race receiver fell out right at the first gate and I ended up crashing. It was a ton of fun flying and I'll be going back with more equipment next time, like more than one drone hahaha.

Also really happy that I started a virtual tour company for real estate. Can't wait to get that going, I guess it's a kind of FPV hahaha.

Somewhere while out and about I caught the EDF fever!
I came across the A 4 E/F model by Free Wing. This is my first ever foam plane. I must say it's like visiting another planet.
With the few mods I plan to do, this bird has captured my full attention. I'm impressed with the quality for a foam plane.
My first plan started with the cockpit.
I came across Jet Hanger Hobbies pilots and decided I would fit one to my cockpit. this meant excavating the interior of the foam shaping the existing cockpit.
The process felt very weird because the foam is soft and not forgiving , so I really had to think though my approach to re-structure what was a basic idea of what I wanted to accomplish.
The JHH 1/10th scale pilot is much taller than the kit included pilot, which required opening up the bottom of the cockpit floor. While doing so I flattened the sides to later add .020 lite ply.
I have read, that because of the heat inside the cockpit enclosure, the foam is prone to a popcorn look or alligator lumps as a result of heat and the foam reaction to excessive heat. This would certainly not be the look I would be pleased to have as a result of the Florida sun, where I live. so I have added a surface covering of .020 lite ply to all the exposed surfaces except the instrument panel. Because there were multiple curves, I could not effectively cover those surface areas with a straight piece of wood and opted to use a piece of sheet fabric vinyl using Beacon foam contact...Continue Reading

Let me know your honest opinions of the footage. I think it's better than my normal DVR and if you all like it too I will continue to fly with it.

It's a crappy HD cam but for $50usd the Wimius HD is not a bad camera, especially for an everyday camera to carry with you, for non-FPV stuff.

I have a 3 quad with 1408 motors and I have HQ3x5x3 props. I have been running 3s on it with out any problems and recently I tried to run 4s. Half way through the throttle the whole quad would have a shaky effect through the googles, I could also hear it vibrate a lot. This is alittle concerning bc my thought Its the props and the props are big as I can get on it. If anybody could help me identify the problem that would be great.

It seems the last four years have gone by quick.
For some reason (family trauma), I dropped the hobby.
As it turns out, slope soaring is just to much fun to leave alone.
So I picked it back up and revisited a few foamie glider ideas that have been collecting dust in the back of the skull.
The flytrap was a huge success with the new way to fold the KFm2 wing design, which I call the KFH.

It works so good, I went back to the revert and added the KFH foil to it and WOW, it's even more fun than the flytrap.

Here's a quick peek of the maiden for anyone interested in building a dirt cheap and fast building plank.

I started flying R/C with my dad around 1979, I was 8. My dad was a pilot with a commercial rating and thought he could teach himself how to fly R/C. I remember him building his M.E.N. Trainer in the dining room and the smell of glue flowing through the house. We joined AMA and the Goodyear Model Airplane Club and come spring he and I were ready to go. The first flight lasted about 15 seconds, even after he was told not to try it on his own. He had a great attitude about it and we collected the pieces and made a quick rebuild. Two club members were instrumental in training my dad, Paul and Carmen got him up to speed pretty quick and all was well with the world. By the end of the summer he was on his own and starting to teach me. We built a small glider called a Piece o Cake and with the help of Paul and my dad I was flying pretty much on my own up to landing. That fall dad helped me build a Pilot Baby with an engine which gave me lasting scars on both index fingers. He built a Sig Kadet, both airplanes we test flew in late fall. Right before Christmas that year he solo'ed me...something which I will never forget. The journey had begun.

Crosswind is a new twin motor FPV platform for professional UAV needs.
The main wing is updated with a new shape of the airfoil, which greatly
improves the lift-to-drag ratio and especially the lift when in low speed.
Crosswinds wingspan is 10 cm larger than that of the MTD
1800 mm while the wing is wider and the fuselage longer.

It's now available on fpvmodel website for only $179.99:

My second EF Laser v2 74 is almost RTF! I just need to do the basic test and set up for the engine in my yard (I don't like surprises at the field), and make + install a custom push pull rod for the rudder. I will include more notes at the end of my build.

Key highlight is that gas is absolutely push pull for rudder, unless you are in the mood to add 4+ ounces to the tail. I am using a combination of bigger batteries on the turtle deck, and roughly 42 grams of weight at the tail to get the static CG roughly right based on my electric Laser.

To make a 200 mm custom push pull, my solution is to get a 4-40 all thread rod, a sturdy CF sleeve, and use the Loctite plastic bonder to lock the 3 mm ball link on to the 4-40 all thread rod for life. I tested this first with a spare piece of 4-40 thread to confirm it is exceptionally solid. I will include a pic when I am done with it. Right now waiting for the 4-40 all thread rod to arrive.

This review has been written by a young friend of mine who is looking to contribute to my website more regularly.

This is his experience as a relative newcomer to sub 2" micro quads, specifically those suitable for indoor flight. Full extensive review is here:

I truly believe that Horizon Hobby has done their homework on their new 1.5m AT-6 Texan, as it is my thoughts that it is not only the light weight (low wing loading) but, the Airfoil shape they have developed so, it will not snap like a typical AT-6 airfoil and still have that scale look of a AT-6.

The devil is in the details and they (HH) has dealt with the stall thingy head-on and I am very pleased with it's ability of float in on landings so much at a low speed that a typical AT-6 airfoil will snap no matter how light you make it.

If "Anyone" has any doubts or interested in the Maiden Flight of my E-Flite AT-6 Texan then, I welcome you all to go to:

The design of the Lama V4 adopts a co-axial and counter-rotating system which makes it most suitable for indoor flight. Its characteristics are: easy controllable flying, simple operation and quick re-charging. The "4 in " mix controller integrates the functions of Gyro, Mixer, ESC and Receiver. Two superior 180 motors and one 7.4V Lithium battery offer powerful performance and long flight times. The canopy can be taken apart and re-assembled easily, allowing adjustments and repairs to be made very conveniently. It is also attrac-tively finished and practical.
