Built as a cheap quad with motors I had sitting around. A couple of the motors rattle (bad bearnings).

But!!! ....
Flies well and very stable.
Tracks straight. Yaw good.

Surprised about the high P gain required. Had tried 140 but still not enough.

Built back in 2011

Features:

• Wooden booms - don't laugh at them!
• Easy to mount and fix.

• Cable ties on motors and a plastic food container to house the FC
• Flies really well and easy to maintain and repair. Actually crash damage is never too much.
• All motors are now angled 5 degrees into the yaw direction for very positive yaw control.
• HK450 Heli skid to land on.

Uses old Warthox MultiWiiCopter board with Wii motion gyros, and BM180 accelerometer.

Its a cross between a MultiWiiCopter and the Talon. Scary - maybe. It just evolved that way!

Flys really nice. Using MWC with baro for alt lock.

Here is my new Tricopter - thanx to Signguy, and Mongrel https://static.rcgroups.net/forums/i...lies/smile.gif.

Features:

1. Props protected by extended arms. Good for a beginner!

1. Tail pivot is a modified steering arm. Mounted above the arm for protection, and held on by cable ties and double sided tape. I have tested this mechanism on an earlier model (see pix) with great success

1. The pool noodles are extend upwards to protect the props should the copter flip.

Built the Goof-proof antenna using an old PC case for sheet metal. It works great, even through the house walls.

Also re-wired the camera-tx using a 6 pin edge mount PCB plug to tie all the power leads together and take strain off the TX plug. This allows me to plug the camera and mic into the system using servo plugs.

My flight box got a rework. Now you can turn on all the ground gear (except goggles) on with one switch, including the RV video splitter.

The HS-81 pan servo has been converted to 180 deg, and it works nice.

Have to record some vid soon and post it.

This is my simple video RX setup.

Tripod to get that antenna off the ground.
[this did not help, I think the whip antenna needs a ground plane).


Video cables to where I'm sitting.

RV Video Splitter to give vid to goggles and vid camera (recording).

12v Gel Cell Batt to run these.

I made a pod like RV's EzPod and it holds the TX, Batt, Pan n Tilt, and Camera.

The standard cam plug was wired to a servo JST on the back of the camera to keep the connections good.

The battery and TX are held in place with velcro.

Camera attached to the tilt servo with double sided tape.

No sound yet.

At last its really true, I have an FPV plane. All that dreaming of flying like Wobby or FPV Leif is now a reality!

So what have I got to fly with?
