Two men aboard a Delta flight from Maine to Atlanta are being hailed as heroes after helping to subdue a passenger making disturbing threats. James Tunnell, an ex-corrections officer, was aboard Delta Flight 1249 from Portland to Atlanta on Thursday, when he and his companion Ashley Decker heard another passenger causing a commotion from the rear of the aircraft. When the man locked himself in a restroom, Tunnell ran to the back of the plane, where he was joined by another man who identified himself as a member of the Coast Guard. A flight attendant provided the men with handcuffs, and the two then worked with crew to wrangle the man back into his seat.

Bound passenger was reportedly dragged off a Korean Air flight from South Korea to San Francisco on Friday, allegedly because she refused to sit in her designated economy seat. In the video, the passenger can also be heard chanting “U.S. Marshall” and what sounds like “Korean Air stole my passport” as the officers pull her from what looks to be a business-class seat and push her down the aisle toward the front of the aircraft. A number of passengers also begin to applaud as she’s removed.

Experts mapped the Boeing 777’s course only after picking through hourly data hookups with a satellite. Extensive sonar searches of remote waters off Australia’s west coast failed to locate the wreckage. Monday’s report didn’t support either theory explicitly, but struggled to come up with a mechanical explanation for the aircraft’s deviations. A few pieces of wreckage from MH370 did wash up in Africa but no bodies have ever been recovered.

American airlines raises plane limits for extreme Phoenix heat. American Airlines is taking a proactive approach with the extreme temperatures in Phoenix. The flights were operated by Mesa Airlines and SkyWest Airlines, which operate the Bombardier CRJ 700/900 aircraft. Due to regulations, the aircraft could not depart Phoenix if the temperature was over 117.86 degrees. Within the past year, American worked with Bombardier and the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure that when the temperature rises, planes can still take off.

The A380 is the largest commercial airliner in the world and can carry more than 500 passengers in a typical three class seat configuration and up to 850 passengers in a densified all-economy cabin version. As the jumbo jet takes off from the runway 14, the prepositioned drone films the plane passing dangerously close at about 300 feet from the tip of the left wing. The airliner belongs to the Dubai-based company Emirates. It seems to be the 4:35 p.m. flight EK702 on regular schedule to Dubai airport.

A Delta Air Lines passenger flying out of Fort Wayne International Airport says she was unfairly removed from a flight on Saturday. In a post on Instagram, Robyn Rodgers of New York said she was "unfairly ejected" from Delta Flight 4527 after an attendant asked her to turn her phone on airplane mode. The flight was operated by SkyWest Airlines, a regional airline that Delta contracts with to operate flights to smaller cities. Passengers often are not aware of the distinction because the flights are part of itineraries on Delta's reservation system.

United States Geological Survey scientists flew a drone over the active summit of the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii, which is too dangerous to observe on foot. According to the USGS, an average of two large explosions a day are sending ash as high as 10,000 feet above sea level, though smaller emissions of ash occur more often. There are currently more than 20 fissures associated with Kilauea, and they've fountained lava that has poured across the Hawaiian landscape and destroyed 41 homes and dozens of other structures. Thousands of residents have been impacted by evacuation orders as lava continues to flow, entering the ocean at three different points as of May 26.

A Cuban-operated airliner with at least 110 people on board crashed into a cassava field just after takeoff from Havana's international airport on Friday. There appeared to be mass casualties as Cuban officials said three people had survived, but had yet to give an official toll. Authorities said there were 104 passengers and nine foreign crew members on the flight that was headed to the eastern city of Holguin. Witnesses said they saw a thick column of smoke near the airport. The FAA has released the newest Aerospace Forecast, and there is no surprise that major growth is predicted for the drone industry. The Unmanned Aircraft Systems section of the Forecast reflects both concerns and optimism for the sector. The FAA says that while “robust growth” in the sector and the introduction of UAS into the NAS “has opened up numerous possibilities, it has also created unique operational challenges. A pilot and passenger from Australia sustained only small cuts and bruises when an elk jumped and severed the tail rotor of their helicopter Monday evening near Currant Creek in Wasatch County. The pair was attempting to net the animal, Wasatch County Search and Rescue said on Facebook. Few details were immediately released, and it was not clear how the elk fared. First responders from Fruitland evaluated the two aboard the helicopter.
