Just finished editing Kit's pictures from last week's flying on the hill.
I didn't get a report from anyone about the flying, but I can tell from the pictures that it was rocking! Ed's anemometer shows 28mph gust in one picture. I know that wind like that in the NE bowl is awesome.
Thanks for the pics Kit.
Merry Christmas everyone!

PS I'm loving Nashville/Murfreesboro, except for the tornados and week of constant rain. My backyard is turning into a lake....Continue Reading

My first week in Nashville and I get a chance to do some RC flying. Well actually, I helped setup the winch, so I didn't technically fly. But I jumped at getting any RC time. I hooked up with a former FSS flying buddy, Poh Khaw. Poh had moved up here a couple of years ago and invited me over to the Eagleville Soaring club, (http://eaglevillesoaring.org/) for some TD flying.
Eagleville is a full scale glider club located SE of Nashville. They have an unusual arrangement where they fly RC from M-F and full size planes on Sat and Sun.
Had a great time assisting Poh and watching the power guys wring out their planes.

Here's my first "remote" blog, since I've moved to Nashville. Several of the guys have stepped up to the plate to photograph the Saturday's flying. This week Kit has been testing out his new DSLR and sent a boatload of pics. Thank you very much Kit.
Kit reported the wind was pretty strong out of the East. You can see our windsock fully stretched out in several of the pictures. In one pic you can see where the lawn chair has been blown over. I see several new planes. Looks like Bill has acquired a Spider 60. Jose has gotten my old Graupner Pilatus repaired and my Super Dragonfly airworthy. Amadeo has a Spirit Elite flying. Also looks like someone has a new Spin 60, Ed or Larry?
In the meantime, enjoy the pics. Kit has done a great first time job with his photos.
I should be doing some winch flying this week over at the Eagleville glider port. I'll add pics and a blog entry if I get a chance.

This Saturday was my last day at Pompano. All good things must come to an end. After 23+ years as club president and 31+ years at work, it's time time for the”R” word. Yes retirement. So I'm moving to Nashville TN in December. Before anyone starts whining, I will continue to keep the blog running. Several club members have already started sending me pictures and I'll update the blog weekly (at least that's the plan).

Mike

PS Thanks to Jamie Mercado and Larry Lakser for contributing pictures.
Also, sorry there's no captions. Tried to add captions, but when you have a large amount of pictures to RC groups it truncates at a certain level....Continue Reading

This Saturday, 11/21, was shaping out to be mediocre at best. Five mph variable wind was the prediction. Luckily that's not what we got. With a steady 10mph SE breeze straight on at the bowl. Not to shabby. Lift was good, as you can tell by the number of Gulps and Moths out on the slope.
Sorry for the lateness of this report. I have been planning to retire this year and move from South Florida to Nashville, TN. Because of the move, I have been busy at home packing all my worldly goods (and slopers) with no spare time to edit pictures or add to the blog.
