About 20 years ago when everything was balsa and glow, I was looking for something different and came across the Wagner Twin Cub online. Wagner had taken many full size planes back in the late 40's and combined them to make twins, Cubs, Tri-Pacer and some others. Since I already had a few half built Goldberg Cubs, I did some modifying and made my first twin Cub with two Super Tigre 40's. I flew it for a few months, it was somewhat over powered, I was younger/crazier and I ended up doing one too many snap rolls and one of the outboard wings broke, down it went.
I always wanted to do a new more modern electric one, got started on one but could never quite get it done, probably sat for 10 years. A local friend of mine, Steve, saw it sitting in my garage and offered to help finish. We worked together on it and got it done a few weeks ago. Center section was extended 12 " for a total wingspan of 90". Tail section and landing gear was modified to one piece. I used two OS motors that were about "30" size and two Hobbywing 80a ESC's with two 4000mah 45C 4S lipos. Although I haven't weighed it, it feels like about 12 lbs ready to fly. Also modified center section of wing so no way it can break again.
Took it out a few days ago for the first test flight, and it flew perfect. Plenty of power, very stable, mixed a little rudder with ailerons, just a great flying plane. And something you don't see everyday. Here are a few pics. The last pic is of my old one from 20 years ago.
