Just rec'd (last week) and put the final touches on the new Freewing Super Scorpion. Very well made foamie. Easy to assemble. Did have to re-install the aileron and flap linkages correctly as well as tighten up some of the servos. Overall very happy with the product. Just need some good weather to see how it flys.....

Finally finished..... My friend Scott Enyart sprayed the camp scheme modeled after the Alaska Aggressors. Decals are from Calli Graphics.

Just need a break in the weather and we'll see what she can do!

Just rec'd my Glacier 5 Cell pack from BuddyRC.com Ran the motor up and got these numbers: 1367 watts at 70 amps. Pretty good power for a plane that will weigh in at 2.95 lbs RTF. I definately reconmend the guys at buddyrc.com they're local (Columbus Ohio) and always anawer the phone. The prices are great to for a battery that is not a typical name brand but is definately higher quality than the Hobby King brands.

To install the intake I needed to leave the topside of the intake un-reinforced to allow for flex during the install. So, once the intake was in I took a piece of carbon fiber prepreg and cut it out to fit from the nose of the airframe to the end of the duct. After I had the right geometric shape I used a heat gun to form some curvature that would fit the outside of the intake. This made for easy epoxying with less working of the cloth.Once the epoxy sets up, I'll put the intake to the final test of a full throttle run.

Finally got the intake duct installed as well as the EDF and thrust tube. The thrust tube needed to be redesigned do to the different OD of the Changesun EDF. I found this link: http://www.conelayout.com/ for the redesign. It's a free download for 21 days and worked perfect. Just plug in diameter 1 (intake end) then diameter 2 (exhaust end) and the total length and it creates a pdf of the cone layout.

The Change Sun 12 Blade EDF and HET 2w-25 motor arrived. Looks like I'll be doing a 4 cell 30c Glacier pack. The watt meter registered 961 watts at 62 Amps. If I need some more punch I can always go with a 40-50C pack later. Unfortunately the Change Sun EDF shroud did'nt fit into the HET Intake, so I did some light sanding to the intake as well as the outer surface of the shroud. Using the free trial of Cone Layout I made a better thrust cone for my application. Found the software here: http://www.conelayout.com/ My dimensions were: 12.25" long with an exit diameter of 55.3mm.
Anyway I sould be re-installing the intake soon then installing the power system after that.

This is my Habu 32 that recently aquired from Bob Belluomini. Only have a few flights on it but, man is it fast! The power plant is a Jet Fan 80 with a Neu 1512/3D 8s setup. This jet has power! Verticle is no problem. Speed is 150+mph, as a matter of fact it doesn't want to slow down. I'm a huge Tanner Foust fan so I thought it would be appropriate to do a Rockstar Energy / Tanner Foust tribute.

Using 3/4 oz fiberglass cloth, I applied two layers of fiberglass. Due to the tight fit going back into the fuselage I only applied fiberglass to the bottom of the intake (the rest is accessable from inside the fuselage). The colapsed area was on the bottom anyway so no need to use the plugs once re-installed. I'm going with a Changesun 12 blade fan and a HET 2W-25 motor, so I'll be waiting to install the intake until after I receive the fan just to make sure everything fits good while the intake is out.

I used heavy duty shipping foam to make form fitting plugs. I needed three at about 2" long each to fill the areas that were damaged by the original repair. Before I installed them I used some 3m fiberglass tape to hold the duct together. Otherwise the pressure was too much and the duct began to split apart at the seem.

So the first order of business was removing the duct. To do this I carefully made a cut around the front joint on the outside of the duct. then slowly worked the duct out of the fuselage. Overall the duct was very flimsy and I don't see how it would have held up to any vacuum force.

Started a winter project this weekend. It's an old HET F16 version 1 (the one with the very week intake duct). When I aquired this the previous owner thought it would be a good idea to use expandable spray in foam insulation to re-inforce the intake duct. The end result was a colapsed intake duct.

My new favorite plane. These gassers are so COOOOOL to fly. Love It!

Found what I was looking for! Got this 30cc dle pilot rc sbach from a guy named Maynard Troyer (former NASCAR driver and best known for his end over end crash in Daytona back in the '70s). Anyway thanks for the outstanding deal! Almost ready to fly just need to replace the fuel hoses and get ahand pump from the lhs.

Decided to keep the ME109 airframe (that was originally a balsa/monocoat gasser) and electrify it! Used a Hobby King G46 (40 sized electric motor). It's a 670kv motor. With a 13" prop on a 5s 2650mah battery it draws 42 amps and makes 800 watts. RTF the model weighs in at 5.1lbs. I found that the Great Planes electric motor mount for medium sized motors worked perfectly. Can't wait to maiden it. Been too windy for my comfort level.

Been focussing all my spare time on my chaos 600 Airwolf build. I know its been done over and over again but, not by me. I've wanted to build one of these ever since I was a kid and saw a very rare (at the time) large scale gas rc Airwolf. This was back in the early '80s. With the cost of large electrics coming down and fuselages readily available and reasonably priced, I finally get to build one!

My first fiberglass EDF plane. The Eflite F86 Sabre. Picked up from RCG classifieds, great deal. Man is this a beauty! After reading over all of the threads i can't wait to fly this thing. But, reading over the instructions this looks like a perfect winter project ( may take me a while to build given the time I have to spare).

Got a smokin deal on this Dynam SBACH 342 from Wingman Jeff. This plane flys like a dream. It seems impossible to crash this plane!

Built another Phase 3 F16. This time I skipped a few speed tricks to lighten the airframe up. Weighs in at 1.9 lbs RTF as apposed to the previous 2.1 lbs.

I recently aquired this gem, donated by Chad of Ludlow Falls Ohio. I saved it from going in the dump. All electronics were fine. The original 12 channel RX was smashed. Don't think I'll need it though. I can get by with my 7 channel, I just won't have the ejecting pilot?, drag chute, or individual controls (elevon mixing). This thing has all the bells and wistles though (scale retracts, nav lighting, thrust vectoring), hope I can get another fuselage and rebuild it.

My Chaos 600e made it here before Christmas. Just in time to be a short winter project. Got it together and have a few hover flights in using a small 6 cell. The correct battery will be here soon....and then I'll get some real flights on it.
