A little matter I've been meaning to bring up... does anyone else feel like those pod shapes on the bottom of the landing gear would be better being called "wheel spats" than "wheel pants"? I never heard of wheel pants until I started reading US hosted RC sites like this one. To me I'd always known them for years and years as Spats on fullsize aircraft. I will concede that I've seen them called wheel pants on fullsize too since then, but I'm pretty sure in Commonwealth countries the term is, or at least used to be, spats. Now, doesn't using the word "pants" for an aircraft part seem slightly silly? Even uncomfortable? The thing is, these pants don't go over any legs, they're just at the foot of the landing gear over the wheel. So if anything they're more like wheel shoes (that's not too bad either). And some Stukas had what they called :"trouser type" fairings over the fixed LG legs, they could certainly qualify as pants but few others have them, and fewer RC models. Isn't Spats just a better word, and doesn't make you feel so weird saying it? So the solution is obvious. Loud and clear, say it with me, call 'em Spats! from now on. So who's with me? Let's spread the word! Literally I mean, and the word is SPATS!

Got 7 flights in today, including a flight by Ali Machinchy to gather his comments (he liked it!).

On three consecutive flights, I removed an ounce of lead from the nose and carefully repeated the stall testing. Great news - I don't need to put any weight back! She has a wide cg envelope while still maintaining reasonable stall characteristics. At the current cg, which is about 34% MAC, it still has a gentle stall. Compared to 30%-31%, where I could almost never get a wing to drop, at 34% you will see a wing drop about 30% of the time. Usually it's when holding full up to induce a stall, then continuing to hold as it tries to recover, thus forcing another stall. It's at this second stall where the wing drops, but then it's still benign. She changes heading about 90°, dips gently and recovers back to level in 20' of altitude or so.

I did have a gust tip her up on a wingtip during a rollout toward the end of the day. The stab made contact with the ground, and appears to have suffered a little damage. I'm going to add a little reinforcement there in the form of either a couple small stringers or a second spar. My philosophy is to design to fly, not crash, but she still needs to be able to withstand this level of knocking about to handle real life.

Michael Selig came out again and captured a bunch of video in 4K, so you can look for that soon. I'll post it in a comment below this thread when he has it processed, a process which takes a lot longer to do in 4K when compared to 1080p.

Hello there friends. The Aft turret print finished up sometime early this morning. There is no steps (Y-Axis Shift) on the finished print. I took the entire turret with the depression rails and printed it as one complete part. I'm very pleased with the results, especially the depression rails. Yes, there is a lot of support material that has to be removed, but it printed out well.

With the adjustment to the printer I made (increasing the reference voltage on each axis and the extruder stepper motors drivers and replacement and securement of the Bowden tube) I think that the finished prints are better than before.

I've got to add the pictures from my iPhone, so will do that as quickly as I can.

My version of Mike Castillo's 20" Speedwing....except......24" WS, Spec's: 3542 1200kv motor, 60 amp ESC, 2600 mah 50C 4S battery, 8x4 APC-E prop, ES-3104 servos, 27 oz all up..Wortmann FX76-120 airfoil....she should be flight ready by this afternoon.....

So far I've got (1) sheet of 3/16, (1) sheet of 1/8, (1) sheet of 1/16, a bit of ply, (1) stick of 3/8" sq, a bit of aileron stock.....and some thread....lol

Un Test concluant et des sensations nouvelles ! Voici donc le F500, une aile volante ou Avion à Décollage et Atterrissage Vertical (ADAV ou VTOL en anglais). Une fois les apréhensions passées, QUEL PLAISIR ! Je découvrais ce type d'appareil pour la première fois mais la facilité de prise en main m'a époustouflée !!! En effet, le vol vertical est d'une simplicité déconcertante et le premier passage en mode horizontalest grisant, par contre quelques secondes suffisent pour prendre confiance grace à son mode stabilisé . Le passage en mode Acro est encore plus flippant, mais , là encore, c'est beaucoup plus simple de maitriser cet engin comparer à un drone racer. Le Top c'est bien sur le vol en FPV et Acro, quelle sensation douce et apaisante encore une fois, comparé aux racers, qui demandent beaucoup plus de concentration et de finesse. En bref, JE VALIDE largement ce pack qui s'adresse aussi bien aux débutants qu'aux confirmés qui découvriront de nouvelles sensations j'en suis certain.

Here is my Volantex RC Vector 80 PRO 798-2 Angry Shark 32" self-righting Mono 100% all stock with gps speed test. I think low 40's is attainable with a good s&b prop and is probably a realistic number for this boat. The hatch leaks like crazy when upside down, so it must be taped. Overall it's a pretty fun boat and seems to be going much faster than it actually is (I guess that's how Volantex comes up with their speed estimates) . It will be a lot better once I get the speed up a bit more. More to come.

Everytime I go out the Furibee X215 is my last quad standing because it is so tough!

I've made some recent changes to improve the FPV feed including the install of a micro CCD camera (much better light transition and lower latency) plus converted the VTX antenna from RP SMA to the more common SMA.

Both of these changes have improved the FPV experience for me greatly and give me more confidence to run in trick light conditions.

The new X140 Pro arrived on my door step today. I've been very excited about getting this one since I really like the original FuriBee X140, which this is supposed to be an improvement on. For those that haven't heard yet, it appears as though FuriBee will be changing their brand name to Helifar.

Anyway, this little racer is built on a 145mm stretched X frame with 4mm arms. The quad is equipped with an F4 flight controller, a Blheli-32 25A 4 in 1 2-4s ESC running Dshot 1200, a 25/100/200mw VTX with Pit Mode, a 600TVL CCD FPV camera, and 1408 3800kv motors. The product desciption on the Gearbest page states 3600kv motors, but mine are clearly marked 3800kv (See pics)

You also get a buzzer, a programmable LED, and 8 Racekraft 3041 4 blade props.

Many of you may have already seen Andy RC's review on YouTube, and he didn't like the stock props. He switched them out for some Gemfan Flash 3052 props and the quad performed much better. I will also be trying it with both. The Gemfan 3052 have been my favorite 3 inch prop since their release.

This little racer is available as an Frsky BNF, a Flysky BNF, or as a PNP model ready for your choice of receiver.
