The Hypnosis has finally met it's match in the Espadita from Jaro Muller.

Although originally intended to be a contender in the 2m class as a TD ship, the Espadita has turned out to be even better as an all-round light/medium air sloper. It is very capable at acro and will hang on a gentle breeze for light air groovin'. My example weighs in at 42oz.

Young-Seok Shin introduced the Artist to the RCG community last spring; one look and I knew I should have one.

Here is a photo thread documenting the radio install with an emphasis on depicting the quality of the model (for those who may be afraid to order from an unknown entity.) I have to admit I was a little apprehensive when my $$ went down the wire... No worries, the model was delivered and looks good; I let the photos speak.

Was a time when I fancied a couple PSS ships... Never did get to finishing them; they hang in the rafters as decoration.

The Jessina Stratos 6.

The Stratos is a fine piece of kit. Foil is a HQ at just under 8% thick and a slightly less than 2% camber. Although mostly found in "J" versions of F3X models, the Stratos' HQ being a little thinner and decambered really moves out with a load of ballast.
This particular model has a fairly heavy layup and thus is in it's element in 15mph or more on the slope. As a matter of fact, I think the fastest model we have recorded with the GPS happens to be this one.
Also worth mentioning is the way this model feels in flight, it flies like it's on rails, it will punch through a 30mph chop as good as anything I have.
That said it just doesn't have the AUW to be able to compete with the Brio in huge conditions....Continue Reading

Since I'm basically computer illiterate, don't have an I-Pod, and am too stupid to find the address book on my smartphone, I've decided to try and reverse this trend by not being the last RC'er to convert to 2.4Ghz.

I've chosen the Spektrum equipment because I fly JR, and more importantly Spektrum offers the widest selection of 2.4 receivers in the industry. Specifically the "carbon" versions of the various products since I have many full carbon models that may or may not present a challenge to convert. I also had a sneaking suspicion that I could modify the stock Spektrum gear to better suit my needs... But I'll get to that later.

The Ceres drew the short straw and therefore she will be the first to undergo a brain transplant.

First things first; let's disect some of these little 2.4 critters and see what's inside...

At 96oz empty, this example is heavier than most... Jiri added a little extra carbon. It was built for sport flying in 40+ winds at Eagle/Chandler and my home slope.

Picked up a Ceres a couple months back; just finished up the install.

More photos of the Opus build.

I crashed my freaking Opus! Snap rolled into the rock face at Chandler Bute while racing in 40-50mph winds. It was fun while it lasted! Misc photos from the build... After a couple seasons flying the Tri-Cities area, it is plain as day that a good model is a heavy model; this one went around 100oz AUW, the next ones will be heavier. Next ones?? Yup, two more on the bench for '09.
