I've been out of town the past two weekends. Fortunately Larry L was up this weekend and made a mini-report. Thanks Larry!

Larry's report:

We had good flying last Saturday with brisk 12-15mph breeze, with occasional gust to 20 mph out of the East.  A good dose of turbulence made the flying a bit challenging as we had a few walks of shame.
One or two minor mid-airs did not dampen our spirits as the temperatures were only in the mid 80's and the summer's dreaded high humidity is gone.

Very light turnout this weekend. Two things working against us.
One, there was an FSS TD contest in Gainesville (Which our guys performed well…...thank you):
Two, weather reports showed 5 mph and variable as the predicted winds.
Luckily the weather man was wrong. We had a consistent 10 mph on the Westside. So flying was pretty good. Another surprise, was that we had several mid-airs, even with the smaller number of pilots. Most were foamies, some minimal damage. Although Joe and Buck's planes tangled in a head on and left some damage between the two planes.

Back to the East side this weekend. Light lift, more thermals than wind. Waste Mgt is doing maintenance to the top of the East side which made for some interesting access (high vehicle clearance preferred). Best way to go, was along the south side of the “hill”, then drive North, along the East slope until you reached our East slope parking area.
We had a great time. I remember Kit and I taking our Warmliners and making repeated climb outs and speed runs. Just like dueling banjos, but with planes.
Should be better weather (can you say windy) next weekend with Hurricane Joaquin passing offshore.
