Many of you will be familiar with some of this already. I skip a lot of things about switching losses and current circulation in the motors. This is about how these two electrical variables affect real world performance. This is to hopefully give an idea of what PWM even is to those unfamiliar.. feel free to post your comments experience down below.
Motors are driven by voltage. In order to control the voltage that a motor coils "pulse width modulation" (PWM) is the process by which this happens. If you have a 12 volt battery and want to run the motor at half speed (6 volts ) you would use pwm with a 50 percent "duty cycle". This means half the time the switches are ON that drive the motors coils and half the time they are OFF.
Pwm frequency ( 24khz, 48khz etc) is the number of times per second that these switches are turned on or off. You could do pwm yourself and probably manage a few switches per second. So picture a toggle switch, when the switch is turned on the current starts to rise in the motor coils and the motor begins to move. When its off the motor will coast and begin to slow down. At a very low frequency like this you can see that it might be hard on a motor as the current goes through large swings with each turn on turn/ off phase. This current ripple creates heat in the motor coils and is a major power loss. To make it smoother you need to increase the frequency. 1.flashing the support bi-directional DShot firmware(for RPM filter),
download the latest firmware marked “48KHz”.
Firmware that allow to run RPM filter in BLHeli_S ESC for free JazzMaverick:

Firstly find out the code name of your ESC.
Connect to BLHeli Configurator.
You can see your ESC code name in the title, for example, mine Beta75 pro 2 is S-H-50 and download the firmware S_H_50_48_REV16_8.HEX

Update your FC to Betaflight 4.1 or newer(for now mine is 4.1.6)

Use 4KHz gyro sampling rate and 4KHz looptime.DShot300 ESC Protocol.
Enable “Bidirectional DShot“, and set Motor poles (for example Beta75 pro 2 motor 08028 is 12 poles)

Under Dynamic Notch Filter:
Filter Range at LOW
Width Percent to 0
Q factor to 200
Min frequency to 90

If the motors are cool, it probably means you can reduce filtering further. But this time you can use the two sliders on the top of the filter tab – Gyro Filter Multiplier and D term filter multiplier.(I test it at 1.2 both)

I really enjoyed this build. It was fun to detail. 80" span @21 1/2 lbs. Should putt around like a dream trainer.
Powered by a Sachs 2.4 gasoline engine on electronic ignition with a Sullivan smoke system built into the muffler.
Covered in original, uncolored, Super Coverite, stitched, rib taped, sealed with 2 coats of Minwax Polycrylic polyurethane,
then 2 coats of primer (with a sanding of a Scotchbrite pad between each coat) then finished it off with 2 coats of Rust-Oleum
Gloss Protective enamel. I made my own graphics on my wife's Cricut vinyl cutter. That's fun! Topped it off with a couple

I purchased an open stock AR637T receiver a few weeks ago and finally got about 5 minutes of flight today (5/28/2020) after replacing the AR636 receiver that came with the Turbo Timber (TT). The TT had flown the day before and I had programmed her with 5 flight modes using the throttle stick as 1 switch for 3 modes and the D switch for 2 modes. Dual rates, expo, and mixing had audio working fine. I removed the 636 RX and white silicone from the foam and made a plywood floor for the 637T RX. I followed the installation manual and bound the RX to the TT program. I had to reverse the elevator and aileron servo direction. She flew the next day and without SAFE or AS3X I noticed my TT as being very sensitive and not forgiving like the 636 RX.

I had been following the manual included with the receiver and got this far before asking Dave A. HELP.......

Select NEXT at the bottom of each page to continue.

2. Test fly the airplane to verify the configuration. In-flight trim changes do not require any further updates.

from time to time, model airplane magazines published articles on sort of science fiction by mad scientists that were performing experiments with remote controlled airplanes.
these were as rudimentary as they could be. free flight planes controlling just the rudder, and that happened erratically. it was sort of lottery to be able to change the direction of the plane now and then.
but, as i said, it was just trying the boundaries of the then fantasy of controlling something at a distance.
this took years and the contribution of countless (and nameless) folks to reach the point of being able to control also elevator, then throttle.
the gear consisted on a car battery placed on the ground that provided the power, connected to a control box that the modeler held in his hands.
those who were present were in awe, and talked about this for a long time to whoever were around.
then came reeds, that improved efficiency. there was 1 channel for left turn, and another for right turn.
when elevator was added, same thing: 1 channel for up, another for down.
then servos. nicads. years later, some1 released the 1st commercial radio control (kraft, i think). and expensive. heavy.
and they were flying on frequencies (72, 27), so you would not have interference.
i recall at los angeles, there was at a place called mile square, that was an emergency airstrip (dont know of still exists), that had large areas designated for each frequency where the ones that were willing to fly formed and awaited for their turn to fly.
it was until, on 2006 that horizon released the 2.4 with which apparently any number of planes could fly without interference.
now we also have cellulars, laptops, gps and whatnot.
boy, the world has come a long way...

Halloa people,

soooo it has been a while since Runcam released the Runcam 2 right? I'm not completely sure but it must have been 4-5 years
Back then the RC2 was a great action-cam option for multirotors and it indeed was the first recorder I strapped onto a quad :P

But.. time moves on and we now finally have a 4K version of it!
The shape of these camera's also make them handy for airplanes which is indeed what I was still using the RC2 for

I have been trying to find some information on the toxic effects of soldering fumes. Now that I have switched over from nitro to electric, I am spending A LOT of time soldering. Web searches always assume I am talking about wave soldering in a factory. Does anybody know of a site that can give me an answer to this? I can only hold my breath so long. Thanks

I've written a step by step setup guide for the WL toys 144001 that has come out better than I was hoping:

-Filled the diffs with grease, adjusting the turnbuckles and correcting the amount of fluid in the shocks. This will really improve handling and substatially increase the life of the diffs and shocks. Hope you find this useful

also there was control-line: you fly the plane attached to 2 thin cables that are connected to a handle, like a pistol grip. you aim higher, the plane climbs. aim lower, it dives. turn and turn. and you had to overcome dizziness.
once you did, then try loops. wing overs. fly inverted (signals are reversed). then more stunts.
there was a competition pattern, where you had a sequence of maneuvers.
there was also combat, where 2 planes flew at same time. there was a streamer attached to the tail, and you aimed to cut it. the closer the more points you got.
and there was speed too.
we had lots of fun.
here, we could control the airplane.
a new experience.

Cinewhoop Freestyle... C'est possible ! Pour mon grand retour au GAMELLODROME, je teste aujourd'hui le SECTOR132 de HGLRC. Une bonne machine, bien équipée et bien réglée à la sortie de la boite. Ce petit 3 pouces vous permettra de vous initier à deux pilotages différents, le Cinewhoop et le freestyle donc chacun y trouvera son compte . Par contre, je relève un petit défaut de conception au niveau de la frame un peu fine et flexible et surtout au niveau des bras. Le reste est bien conçu et l'engin est très agréable à piloter. En bref, un bon petit appareil pour de la cinématique et en indoor mais un peu faiblard pour du freestyle un peu risqué ... Bon Film à Tous et Merci de votre soutien .

Hey all,

It's been a while since I've posted,got a little rant and or inquiring.
So I purchased some items from banggood over a month ago,during this pandemic I was leery to do so but ebay and amazon stuff I ordered shipped ok,longer than usual but understood.
Banggood has been weird though,items show shipped,tracking numbers don't exist,but they still got paid my over $400 in orders.
I know it's a mess in the world just curious if banggood has cashed out and ran with our money.

Z3-FPV is a first person view flight controller applied on RC aircraft. The important data such as real-time altitude, speed, voltage, posture and distance can be shown on screen with the OSD function in Z3-FPV. The PMU(power management module) that supports 2-6S input can provide real-time data collection of battery voltage and current while providing stable power supply to the flight control, providing indispensable key information for FPV voyage. It can be applied on normal wing, fly-wing, and V-tail airplanes.

It supports five flying modes, when it controls the airplane flying after connected with receiver. The RTH mode can allow the aircraft to return to the take-off point safely under any circumstances.
