A passenger plane skidded off a runway and was left stuck precariously on the side of a cliff in northeast Turkey. All 162 passengers and crew on board the Pegasus Airlines' Boeing 737-800 miraculously escaped, with no serious injuries reported, following the incident at Trabzon Airport, on Turkey’s Black Sea coast. Panicked passengers were evacuated from the aircraft early on Sunday after emergency service crews arrived at the scene.

It flies again! My Claes Meier Autopartner Crazy Sukhoi resurrected! The missing Depron pieces were replaced with some new ones. I used permanent pen and redid the green/chequered/streak pattern by hand. Some BlenderM tape and UHU Por was needed to fix various cracks etc and all servo horns were re-centered.

CG was guessed, Dual rates set to 30% and first launch, ouch, super rear heavy. Combined with being a bit out of trim it was almost unflyable. Slow though so easy to land. Some adjustment of battery and some trim and it transformed completely, becoming very stable and nice.

It is very fragile though. I broke it several times on the board and pulled the fuse apart when clumsily removing the battery. Normal for Depron I think.

Anyway, I went through pack after pack until the wind started picking up too much. Very fun and being my first plane of this type I’m positively surprised and impressed!

Yep Les Amis,

LOL... LIKEZ svp.

Good ol’ 2.4 control and 5.8 ghz video
Upgraded 2.4 and 5.8 is shaping up to be my all-time favorite link. It’s not that great when used within a few miles of houses (wifi emissions I think) and not that great when used in it’s plain ol’ vanilla form, but upgrade it up a bit, go out into the wilderness and it works impressive enough that I would call it “long range” gear.

Why I like it:
-Telemetry: I like my “high precision variometer” beeps and I like audible warnings over OSD warnings. I have had a heck of a time trying to make a variometer work worth a darn with 1.3ghz video and that kinds seals the deal for me as a soaring pilot.
-channel choices: 1258mhz in my area is almost always fuzzy/unusable. If 1280 is in use by another pilot or just plain getting stepped on by an outside source then it’s time to pack it up. 5.8 always has something that’s working.
-antenna gain and antenna size: while it’s possible to mount high gain 1.3 antennas on your head it’s a much more manageable to mount high gain 5.8 antennas like the pepperbox on your goggles instead.
Why I don’t like it:
-range: I can never get my 2.4/5.8 gear to go as far as my 433/1.3 gear
-fuzz out: while 1.3 ghz tends to fuzz away before you lose your link, 5.8 will be go from rock solid perfect to dead hard snow in a heartbeat. It’s very sensitive to having anything between you and the airplane.

Ranges I am seeing at 600mw:
5....Continue Reading

I have not tried to remove the notch filter on the F1 FC, since the Dynamic filter feature is not supported on F1.

Assuming there is relatively low/no noise in blackbox log, would it give any benefit (less latency obviously) that will outweight the possibility of burning motor.

Just asking

Anyone have thoughts/ experiences to share

Edit:I did my own test. It really correlates the general information spread on the filter behavior. The less I filter the noisier the gyro traces gets.
There is no methodology involved here. The blackbox are not the same time lengt, not the same batterie voltage and I was hovering into the garage. On the first notch removed I felt the quad less locked in but more responsive, really nervous and a bit jittery with the turbulence.
Removal of all filter degraded the flight behavior. This is a tuned quad(by me), I didn't mess with PIDs on test and the Scale for the graph is:
Graph setting :
0% smooth
100% expo
1000% zoom

10% Zoom

Little things mean a lot. Weight creeps up. Things begin to skew. But some little things look awesome and are worth the effort.

The seat back for the Ford Flivver is not mentioned anywhere. I made a template and found some black sheet called leather. To get a quilting effect, my wife sewed seams across lines I’d made. These help the back look better than just painting brhind the pilot figure.
