I'm MAD I tell ya, MAD about CAD!.... Well, maybe just MAD.

Well it's been a few years since the Build-a-long post, and over those years I've somewhat streamlined that work-flow of deconstructing a CAD model into cut files, so why not bring things up to date. Since the basics of making a solid CAD model is pretty much covered in the Build-a-long, I won't be going over that so much in this post. We'll be starting this off with a model of a Fiat CR 44, an Italian "paper" fighter/bomber project, although never built, it's a pretty sweet looking machine if you ask me.

So let's have a look at the model dimensions and intentions- 40in. wingspan, 34-7/16in. fuselage, with the wing & fuse being fully sheeted, no bare stringers for this one, and a few 3D printed parts to top it off.

Starting with Fuselage:
The 3-view used for this came from Aerofan magazine #100, and as you'll see in the pics below, there are no fuselage section profiles that I would normally trace and Loft into a Solid Fuselage..... No Problem!

Solid model from surfaces, that's how I'll do it! With the fuse of this airplane being pretty simple, basically a tapered cylinder, a few profile sketches is all it will take.

And as always, this thread is open for any comments, suggestions, whatever, nothing is off-topic here!

So with this blog entry, I'm doing an everything CAD theme, a place to show projects of any kind, not just Warbirds. It's open to everyone, and your welcome to post your WIP's, finished projects, future projects and everything in-between, whether you want some feedback, or just for fun, it's all good.
To start this off, here's some current WIP's I've been working on, and there are a few... there are more, but this will do for now.(since these are all unfinished, there will be updates along the way, and I plan on a series of civil war ironclads)

Hope you enjoy them,

Hey guys,
We are now officially started, so any questions, etc. as we go, just ask here.

When building these CAD models, I don't always follow the rules or proper protocol for 3D modeling, and I like to do things the easy and quick way when possible, so here we go......

Alright, we'll start with some pics for Raipes project:

Got these pics in an e-mail, all I can say is WOW, just incredible, this guy deserves his work being shown off, period!!! And all the linkages, cables and chains work, just like the real ones, amazing.

Just a basic shape so far, still needs some tweaking.
