I hope that a blog can lead to a lot of information exchange concerning in this case the best equipment and cheapest way to go from total RC newbie to FPV pilot. When I first saw a YouTube video of FPV I knew it was something I had to do! To be able to literally transfer your point of view in that of a birds seemed to be a bit like shape changer magic and I am all for it!
I really had no idea how much Radio Control had been impacted by advances in battery technology until I started researching and playing with the inexpensive Air Hogs helis that are everywhere. It really clicked for me when I once got to the point that I could play "Buzz the cat" and film episodes of Catzilla swatting one of my helicopters out of the air.
I remember in particular one time one of my cats grabbed his prize and ran away with his "kill" to hide and if it had not been for the flashing blue led that gave away his hiding place that would have been one expensive chewed up cat toy!
After awhile with those I found the larger helis and ordered a Esky CoComanche and that is when the learning curve really began.
