OK, so I've ordered parts for a tricopter - based on this thread. Will use a HK401B gyro. While I'm waiting for the parts I have roughed out the wood frame - from recycled materials

Thinking about building a tricopter. Not sure why, just a bit of an attraction.

I modified my FPV module by changing over the camera to a $25 ebay special, that runs on 12v. Had a "senior moment" because I wired up the cam and the Tx together to run directly off the 3S lipo - which was pretty thick of me because the Tx is 5v. Fortunately I noticed this when I got to the field last Sunday and so flew 3rd person view instead. Will have to re-do this.

This was my first dinkum FPV flight. A beautiful Sunday morning not too far from my house. The camera is missing an IR filter (after I changed the lens for one with a wider FOV) so the colours are weird but hey ...
