I found three awesome delta planes at an estate sale this weekend. Two Balsa USA Force One’s and a Delta Vortex. I love delta airplanes.

The HAL Dhruv is a utility helicopter designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) from India. It has been named after an Indian mythological character, Dhruv, which in Sanskrit means 'unshakeable'.

The development of the Dhruv was announced in November 1984, and it was subsequently designed with assistance from Germany's Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) as a consultant and collaborative partner on the programme.

The helicopter first flew in 1992 and entered service in 2002. It is designed to meet the requirement of both military and civil operators, with military variants of the helicopter being developed for the Indian Armed Forces, while a variant for civilian/commercial use has also been developed. Military versions in production include transport, utility, reconnaissance and medical evacuation variants. Based on the Dhruv platform, the HAL Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) a dedicated attack helicopter and HAL Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), a utility and observation helicopter, are currently being developed.

As of October 2020, more than 300 HAL Dhruv have been produced for domestic and export markets. (Wikipedia)

Sarang ('Peacock') is the helicopter air display team of the Indian Air Force that flies four modified HAL Dhruv helicopters, also known as Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH). The team was formed in October 2003 and their first performance was at the Asian Aerospace show, Singapore, in 2004. The name Sarang is symbolic; the peacock is...Continue Reading

In my neck of the woods having 4x4's do come in handy and I like to have a V8, classic rig to work on and have around in my world. Latest is a 98 Dodge Ram, 1500. I am redoing the differential at current upon and moving onto the rest of the shopping cart of what needs to get done, it's a very strong runner and has plenty going for it, mechanically, style wise and the rest.

There are fewer single cab's of these since they were originally bought for use and abuse, work horses, and those mud tires the previous owner drove on far too long did not help, so looks like I will be taking some time to get this dialed in. I personally think this is the best design style Dodge trucks went to in the modern age, before and after, nothing really like them.

So the right motor seized up a few times. Upon disassembly, it was scorching hot. The leading theory is the warmer weather is softening the PLA components, throwing alignment off. Motor mounts may have to be printed out of PETG. The wheel was definitely deformed. A metal plate outside the current PLA one might dissipate heat.

The gaskets were chewed up, probably from the wheels slipping out of their bearings & being shoved back in.

There is a condition where the radio frequency hopping permanently stays out of sync. It gets 1 packet every second. That could happen if the same frequency happens twice in the pattern, which it doesn't. It could just get crosstalk from another frequency. Another bit in the packet storing what slot of the pattern it's on might fix it.

There are still rare times when the radio disconnects & it falls back on a motor timeout.

I had an older camera case that wasn't being used for anything, so I decided to turn it into a charging case for my power supply & 308Duo iCharger.

The base and the cable box were made from 1/4" birch plywood. For extra protection all the wood pieces received three coats of satin polyurethane. The hook & loop straps came from Secure Cable Ties. The balance boards are held in place with double side tape.

For a while now I've been thinking about purchasing a portable generator to take with me to the flying field so I wanted this case to be portable as well.

At the moment there are no extra holes in the case for cooling air. I'm hoping there's enough space between the power supply & charger that cooling holes won't be needed. But, I'll be keeping a close eye on it to make sure things don't get too hot and, if I have to, I will add some holes.

It was a simple & fun little project!

So I'm starting another blog entry and I'll update this one until the day mine comes.
So this is actually started back in late 2013 and into 2014 when I first heard about Robugtix' T8 (with the furry skin). I wanted one straight away since I have a liking for tarantulas and at the time, I had 2 pet tarantulas.

Unfortunately my wife did not let me pre-order one.

I have since been looking around but I don't think the company ever sold many - I never saw many posts about it online and didn't see anything on eBay.... until about 10 days ago when I decided to check my eBay notifications and one of them had the title Robugtix!
I opened the email straight away and sure enough - it was an actual Robugtix T8X Spider!!!!
I immediately emailed the seller to ask questions, and placed the item in my Watch List since my payday wasn't until a few days later..

I tried to be practical about it and not think too much about it since I know I'll have it for a couple of hours and it will go back in its box and stored in the attic. But the price was right and I knew I'll never see one for sale again since I waited around 8 years for it and never saw one come up for sale!

I emailed the seller with an encrypted offer. He came back a couple of days later and countered with a tiny bit more to my original offer to which I accepted. But I did not pay immediately since I was still having 2nd thoughts.
The seller was very understanding and offered to send me photos and videos when he...Continue Reading

Unboxing of Black Horse Gilmore Red Lion 2350mm (92.5") ARF - Wedell-Williams Model 44 (16 min 30 sec)

Time to unbox the 92" Gilmore Red Lion from Black Horse! (plus a bit of footage of the REAL Wedell-Williams NR61Y which is on display at the Crawford Aviation Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

NR61Y was born in Patterson, Louisiana in 1932. She was a pretty girl with a sleek, smooth NACA cowl housing her chesty Pratt & Whitney R-985. Roscoe Turner flew her to California for the start of the 1932 Bendix race in an unpainted condition. His mechanic and right hand, Don Young, not only had to build her, but paint her in a dark hangar literally just prior to race time. The colors she wore for that racing season were the most famous of all the Wedell paint schemes—silvery crème with red and black trim—and race #121.

Nicknamed in a burst of creativity as the "Gilmore Red Lion," Turner flew her to third place behind Jim Haizlip in the Wedell-Williams #92 (NR536V) and Jimmy Wedell in #44 (NR278V). Poor Roscoe placed third in the Thompson Trophy, as well, trailing Jimmy Doolittle in the Gee Bee R-1 and Jimmy Wedell in #44.

I'm very excited to share this build series with all of you!

Bench testing was ugly, with much worse results than the unamplified radio. It seemed to be saturating the receiver. Moving it farther away or covering it improved reception. Hot glued the bodge wires down instead of making a new board. Buttoned it up & it worked much better in the field. It managed to fend off the phone tower & range was no longer a problem. There were still dropped packets near the phone tower but not enough to kill it.

The impedance matching is obviously horrendous. Having the receiver right next to the ground is horrendous. The lion kingdom was just hoping for enough improvement to do the job. The battery has to be charged after every drive now. It took 30 minutes to hit constant voltage on the inductive charger. Something would have to be rigged out of a multimeter to get the number of coulombs.

The big question is exactly how much power it's radiating, compared to a Spektrum or a DJI. It spreads the 500mW across 100kbits. The Spektrums concentrate 7mW in a very narrow bandwidth so they have long range. The DJI video transmitter radiates 1W across a 20Mhz band of frequencies, so it has shorter range. No-one knows what the DJI uses for remote control. It may be the same as the Spektrum.

Gave some attitude to the red rubber pilot that came with my PZ Extra 300. Reflective visor was from a Twix candy bar wrapper. Straps were silver duct tape. Photos were printed from the cockpit of a real Extra 300. Paint: Tamiya gray primer, Rustoleum gloss black, Testors purple and orange. Canopy glue.

Don’t miss the pattern call sheet on the instrument panel.

In this video, I unbox a New Beginner RC Plane, the Arrows RC Pioneer 620mm RTF Trainer Plane. You will hear my First Impressions of this powerful Beginner RC Airplane that will help people learn how to fly.

New Beginner RC Plane Unboxing | Arrows RC Pioneer 620mm RTF Trainer Plane | First Impressions (6 min 25 sec)

Here are the Review Notes:

- Ready To Fly (RTF) out of the box with everything you need.
- 2S Power on a compact trainer plane for more fun after you learn to fly.
- 4 channels to properly learn the fundamentals.
- Stability and dynamic flight modes
- The box can be used as a carry case for protection over time.
- Large and cool landing gear for a variety of terrain.
- So far, this appears to be on par with or better than the Hobbyzone Sport Cub S2 and is comparable quality to the excellent EDF Jet value, Arrows Viper.

- The servos do not appear to be super smooth and precise, but they still look good for this application.

The link in this post is an affiliate link. It gives me a small commission on sales which helps support the channel and keep it independent.

Well I've not been around for a long while but lately I have found myself coming back often again.
Whenever I need proper info on anything RC related, I tend to come in here rather than stay on Social Media looking around Groups.

Anyhow - I accidentally bought a new toy! And I asked my 6 year old daughter if she wanted to unbox it for her Youtube channel! :P
I didn't tell her anything about the toy.

Yep Les Amis,
