This Conversion has been fairly straightforward as compared to my other Custom 2S Brushless Planes. I've reused the UMX P-47 4-Bladed Prop on this Conversion, along with the Eflite 2500KV Motor that came installed in the UMX P-47 as well. The Nose Spinner was originally made for a Parkzone Ultra Micro P-51 Mustang but is compatible with the UMX P-47 4-Bladed Prop. The ESC/Receiver Board is a new UMX Beast 3D AS3X, and the Motor Mount is an Aeromodz Custom P-40 Warhawk Motor Mount. The main wing and all tail surfaces have been reinforced with .050 Carbon Fiber Rods.

If there was any puzzle to solve with this Conversion, it was fitting the UMX Beast 3D Board to lay flat in such a narrow fuselage. Therefore, I created a groove channel in the foam that the Receiver Board sits within, followed with an application of CA and GE White Silicone. The other puzzle to solve was that the Rudder Control Horn Issue.. I had to switch the side the Control Horn Holes from the left side of the fuselage, to the right side, and in doing so, also relocated the Elevator Control Horn to the left side of the fuselage. Check it out guys! I have another 1S to 2S successful Warbird Conversion that I started last night and completed this morning. My Parkzone Ultra Micro P-40 Warhawk (2S Brushless) "Stella". I've reused the UMX P-47 4-Bladed Prop on this Conversion, along with the Eflite 2500KV Motor that came in the UMX P-47 as well. Best viewed in Fullscreen and HD! This is the Maiden Flight of my Parkzone Ultra Micro T-28 (Custom 2S Brushless) "Achilles" using the new GWS 5030 3-Blade Prop and UMX P-47 Spinner.

Originally, I had been using the Eflite 5 x 2.75 Standard Prop with my Parkzone Ultra Micro T-28 Trojan (2S Brushless) "Achilles" and had great results with it in conjunction with the Eflite Brushless 2500 KV Brushless 180 Motor. However, using this new GWS 5030 3-Blade Prop with the Eflite 2500 KV Motor had not only improved the thrust and top speed but also the throttle management on low end speeds, it seemed. Overall performance with this GWS Prop has increased what I had already thought to have been a "maxed out stats" type plane. Not to mention, the new GWS 3-Blade 5030 Prop along with the UMX P-47 "Cup" Spinner also simply looks great on this plane.

I painted the tips of the GWS 5030 3-Blade Prop using Testors Model Master Acryl RAF Sky Type "S", an off-white color that matches the UMX P-47 "Cup" Spinner. Then I dynamically balanced the Prop and Spinner until all that could be heard was a "turbine" - like hum of the motor.. the result of a perfectly balanced prop.

Best viewed in Fullscreen and HD! After I finished performing the install of the Eflite 3000 KV Motor in Captain M's UMX P-47, here is the short but sweet Maiden Flight Footage in conjunction with the stock 4-Blade Prop with Captain M behind the sticks!

Instant noticeable speed, power and authority, even in the post storm wind and rain was felt throughout the flight. Upgrading to the 3000 KV Motor gives the UMX P-47 the added boost for respectable Power Climbs and even Inverted Loops. As commented in the video, this is one plane that does not care what the weather is like. She is just rock solid stable.. and now with more power!

With the success of my Parkzone Ultra Micro T-28 Trojan (2S Brushless) "Achilles", I ordered a second one from Horizon Hobby and it had arrived yesterday. Because of the location and common windy conditions that I tend to fly in, I wanted to create a second UMX T-28 with AS3X, apart from my Parkzone Ultra Micro T-28 Trojan (2S Brushless) "Achilles" which is a much faster and more aggressive T-28.

Using the AS3X Receiver Board and Prop off of my UMX F4-U Corsair that I had converted to 2S Brushless, I spent all of last night swapping out her stock non-AS3X Receiver Board to the UMX F4-U Corsair AS3X Receiver Board. Placement of the Board was very straightforward and a simple swap out of the stock board. Foam-Safe CA was used to glue the Board, followed by GE White Silicone Type II around the perimeter, forming a strong bond. The Rudder and Elevator Internal Control Rods were also of the perfect length, so no re-sizing of the rods were needed. Finally, I also swapped out her stock Prop to the aggressive 2nd edition UMX Corsair 3-Bladed Prop to give a scale T-28 look.

As always with my specially modded planes, I've reinforced all wing surfaces. The Main Wing, Horizontal and Vertical Stabilizers have been reinforced with .50 Carbon Fiber Rods. The thinner diameter allows for more dihedral, yet still provides ample reinforcement.. More than any Brushed 1S plane will ever need. This is the Maiden Flight of my Eflite UMX P-47 BL Thunderbolt after swapping out the stock Eflite 2500 KV Motor as well as the inefficient 4-Bladed Prop for the Eflite 3000 KV Motor and GWS 5043 Prop. A significant power output and thrust is easily felt and noticeable during flight as well as increased air authority, especially in moderate to high wind scenarios.

During this Maiden Flight a storm was moving in, making the winds at David Lorenz Park choppy. However, the UMX P-47 handled the turbulence like a much larger plane, especially with the AS3X hard at work. I was able to perform aerobatic maneuvers such as Rolls, Loops, Immelmann, Hammerheads and Inverted Flight with relative ease. Overall Straight Pass Top Speed also has increased. Even sustained Knife Edges are now possible. The most notable improvement over stock was her ability to Power Climb. In her stock configuration, this maneuver led much desire for more. With the upgraded 3000 KV Motor and GWS 5043 Prop, her Power Climb is effortless and now limited only to my visual orientation limits.

Conversion of the 3000 KV Motor was relatively simple. By opening the fuselage, unplug the stock 2500 KV Motor and remove the retaining set screw holding the motor to the motor mount and gently pull out the motor from the mount. I was able to maiden my UMX P-47 in some 3-5 mph winds at lunch today. Using Thunder Power 2S 325 mAh 70C Batts with a DX6 Timer set to 6 Minutes, I've found her to be a very docile flyer with great manners. She does require a bit of Right Rudder correction on Take-Offs as upon throttle, she likes to swing to the left. I found that her Rudder and Elevator Response was pretty spot on, however the Aileron Response was a bit anemic , so I moved the push rods one hole in to the third innermost hold and was satisfied with the increased Roll Rate. She pretty much does what you tell her to do, though I do find her just a touch underpowered. The Power Climb test left me wanting a bit more. I can see some experimentation happening with an Eflite 5x2.75 Prop, GWS 5030, and even the GWS 5043 in the future, but for now will leave her as the scale-looking flyer she is. Rolls and Loops great and will do Inverted Flight effortlessly. Immelmans are crisp and Hammerhead Stalls are respectable. Landings are a breeze with just a bit of power to fly her in until touchdown. I didn't find one bad tendency with this edition of the P-47. Very well done!
