The Zivko Edge 540T from General Hobby....I know it's cheap but for my first low wing aircraft that isn't made out of foam, it will work. I have read a few older threads about this plane and most were negative, so I bought it anyway. Guess I was thinking "it can't be that bad" Well, the quality sucks but hopefully that is where it stops
The package arrived in 3 days and was in one piece, no damage to the box.
I removed the parts for inventory and happily everything was there, although I'm not quite sure what some of the pieces are for. I know it's probably the change in air temp, moisture and the phase of the moon, but every inch of the covering film will need to be ironed and hit with a heat gun...oh well.
The wheel pants are pretty HEAVY duty and will require some serious sanding as they have a wood grain texture molded into them? The fiberglass cowl, on the other hand, is NOT heavy duty! It is already cracked around the edges and is not properly shaped to match the fuse . It will need some glass added for strength and to pull it into shape.
This ARF comes with CA hinges cut and installed in the slots but not glued...good thing. I will probably be swapping these with a monocote continuous live hinge or robart pin hinges. The fuse is kind of sad actually, with it's un-sanded edges and corners underneath that wrinkled covering. I will say that I saw no less than 12 joints that did not have glue or had glue but failed to bond. And two bits of balsa fell out...Continue Reading

This is my first attempt at a larger scale (62" WS) bird and so far it's much easier than building the smaller, parkflyer sizes. I have read Sparks' 1/4 scale fanfold P-40 build log (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...&highlight=p40) several times and decided to employ his methods on this build, Thanks Sparks! The greatest thing about his method is the build fixture, this thing is awesome, it makes workinging on all sides very simple.

I do have one warning though, shortly after I began the C460 build this little package showed up;

This is my first attempt at maintaining a build log so hang on, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
So, I was thinking about seeing the snow fly (soon) and what I would do to keep my sticks loose over the winter. I needed an indoor flier but I don't like the flat profile type planes and then I remembered my DH77 plans. A few months ago I found a free DXF download of a 40 size DH77 and I loaded them up. Just so happened that my current project is at a John Deere plant and there were lots of engineers with cad programs and muliple plotters! I had the 40 size scaled in half = 1/2" equals 1", I also took the opportunity to have a 1/6 scale TA152H plotted up

The DH77 will be a full fuse with a built up foam wing. Everything will be out of 3mm hobbylobby foam board and dollar tree 6mm board. I'm going to build it as light as possible and may take some liberties when it comes to the size of the tail feathers and the main wing airfoil. I don't have a target weight or a motor size in mind....yet.

Gonna give airbrushing a go. Purchased a Harbor Freight airbrush for $17 and I'll be using my pancake compressor for air supply. We'll see, I'll post pics as I go.

Here is my start to the SNice-mitar, 34" version. No weights yet but I did get the powerplant mounted last night. I chose an Airfield 70mm EDF jet brushless motor with 2750KV mounted on a custom aluminum mount painted black. I've added some carbon at the LE between the FFF layers and light ply as seen in the pics. Will post more as I near completion.

Thought I should finally add some words to this blog and a few pictures. I haven't been real good at taking build photos but I'm getting better. The biplane is based off a design by warhead_71, thanks warhead_71, and the extra is a foam interpretation of a .46 sized balsa drawing I had laying around. Anyway, here are a few pics. BTW, the biplane flew very well! I recently gave it to my brother-in-law to mess with.
