Test Flight #1 - Zeta Z84 FPV Race Wing - Props: 6x3 vs 6x4 Winner?

The Z84 is a pretty nice Wing with a decent power system.
This version is the PNF that has a 2208 2600kv Motor, 30A ESC, and 5050 Prop.
I've found a 6040 Prop works much better than the stock 5050 Prop as it produces more thrust and is more efficient.

In this Flight I'm testing this Wing with a 6x3 Composite High Efficiency Prop.
This Prop is exactly the same as the 6x4 Prop I've been running with 1 inch less pitch.

The KMP 6x4 Composite Prop proved to provide a lot of thrust with good efficiency.
I think the KMP 6x3 Composite Prop worked even better.
I could not tell if there was a significant amount of additional speed but the vertical climb sure seemed better ;-)
More power plus less amp draw looks like a Win! Win! in my book.
How did you see it?
Did it appear the 6x3 prop performed better than the 6x4 in previous flights?
When I landed I had 3.93v per cell or 11.8v for the pack.
Everything else was the same so the 6x3 Prop does appear to be more efficient as well.

My new favorite Prop for this Wing? Hehehehehe...

***Note: I replaced the T-plug on mine with an XT60 Plug on the ESC

Okay,

It was just perfect conditions and so much so that I almost got my original Park-zone P-47 Thunderbolt to do some very close to the ground (inches from the deck) flying with partial flaps and it almost landed! Got some behind me yelping and giving them Wedgies of sorts! HA!

Seriously, my original P-47 Thunderbolt (modified) with the Park Zone 480 (Black Stock Brushless Motor) flew delightfully with very quiet manners and ZERO vibrations coming from the Business End (Motor / Prop / etc...). Additionally, the landing could have been picture perfect but, I purposely pulled excessive UP Elevator to allow the model to slam down on the Textile Runway from about 15 inches and the Left Retract held with the Gorilla Wood Glue! During the Pre-Flight checks, I only had to cut around the main Gear Skirts as some of the Glue got around the skirts and adhered to the bottom of the wing. A hobby knife and being careful with the Retract cable did the trick and dislodged the Plastic Skirt from the Bottom of wing. I love this Gorilla Wood Glue as it does not leave any ugly residue.

The newer P-47 Thunderbolt (completely stock) with the provided from factory Park Zone 15 Black Brushless motor performed just flawlessly and with good power! This model I didn't fool around with and maintained Airspeed throughout it's flight routine. This is my build log for the HSD 90mm F-86. Kit provides only the major EPO components along with a basic hardware set. I plan to make it as an 8S version with a Taft 8S EDF and a Hobbyking ESC.

Hello..

This is Giant Coaxial Thrust Stand, designed for Extra Large Motors and Propellers,
Specs:
- Single motor test,
- Coaxial motor test,
- Motor diameter up to 90mm,
- Top (left) propellers up to 32",
- Bottom (right) propellers up to 30",

I designed this Giant Rig for a friend, Joshua Carr from BuzzDrones, I will make a smaller version (up to 22" props) for myself later..

Safety is my priority, since this involved Dual Giant Propellers (bigger than my bicycle wheels) spinning at high RPM.
Total thrust (depend on motors and props combination) can exceed 15kg.
Initial design using a 20kg load cell on the top of aluminum stand, but I'm worry about the load cell strength,
if the load cell snaps, nothing can stop the giant propellers from flying around. I don't wanna see a funeral of my friend.
So I change the design, I need to make it strong and safe.

- 1.27x1.27mm square aluminum tubes (470mm 4pcs, 380mm 4pcs)
- 3.2mm MDF,

Very disappointing watching the BFR becoming more & more complicated over the years. The original concept was the simplest because it had 1 purpose: moving humans & cargo to Mars. For every trip, it landed with everything it took off with. They could load it with Martian regolith for the return trips. This way, the center of gravity was the same for every trip. The nose payload would always balance the weight of the engines, allowing it to reenter as a blunt body. Spaceships need to reenter as a blunt body rather than nose first, to lighten their heat shields.

It had header tanks on the top of the mane tanks. The header tanks fueled the landings. By having them as high as possible, it would reduce the amount of ballast required to weigh the nose down during reentry. By having them inside the mane tanks, they would be insulated for long duration flights.

The problem was to make money, the vehicle had to be repurposed for the core satellite business. Payloads would be dropped off in Earth orbit & the vehicle had to return without a payload. This was the same problem NASA encountered with the shuttle.


Like NASA, SpaceX added wings to try to make it pitch down without a payload. The problem was to still satisfy its original role of moving humans to Mars, the wings needed variable lift. To give the wings variable lift, they had to move forward rather than reenter as a blunt body. This required a heavier heat shield.

Wow!

I finally found out WHY-O-WHY my Original ParkZone P-47 Thunderbolt (Modified) had been observed with a vibration at the Prop!

After a little over seven (7) years after my modification from the ParkZone 15 BL motor -to- the ParkZone 480 BL (Stock Black Motors), it seems like the attaching screws that hold the 480 in it's Plastic Motor mount got lose!

At least two were pretty lose and a simple tightening was done. No, didn't use any Lok Tite because I didn't want to risk the motor internals with any of this stuff going inside the motor.

Anyway, at least I know now what was the issue.

Additionally, last time I flew it, the battery took a dump of sorts and didn't seem to have enough power or so I thought and stupidly I landed down range of the Textile Runway and into rather tall grass (weeds) and the Left Retract came out completely out of the wing and slightly cracked the wing near the plastic gun cannons mold line. The retract itself didn't get damaged and the wing structure (spar) fortunately was not damaged in any way!

Using Gorilla Wood Glue and the wing and Retract Mount is on it's way for like new condition!

Can't wait to fly it again.

I've returned once more, to finish up the photo set for the 2019 Indiana Warbird Campaign.
I've been slightly busy debugging a few new things that are coming down the line soon. Some of which will likely be revealed in the next update.

On that note, there isn't too much for me to discuss currently as the aim for the current update was to finish this photo dump. I'll make up for it in the next one, though.
I truly do have some nifty things lined up. The 3d printing related stuff should be a special treat.

My flying buddy Gene who is 84 years old was given this kit. He built a Top Model Prelude for a fellow club member, that club member asked me what should he get for Gene's effort and I recommended the Sapphire.

Well it was not great, Gene called me on a regular basis to complain about the kit. Gene was complaining about the documentation, the plans and the fact that all the wooden laser cut pieces fell out of the wood and the part numbers are on the parts you discard making it a huge jigsaw puzzle.

We were able to find some photos online at different discussion groups and eventually Gene contacted Peter and had some missing parts mailed to him.

The maiden it flew, but barely. The recommended EDF is so under-powered it could not get much higher than 75'. We used the 4s setup. I have a feeling the slope is the best place for this type of sailplane. We don't have slopes in SC and do not have anyone with a plane to act as a tow.

Gene opened up some of the areas to help get more air on the EDF, we will try again soon to see if that helps.

purchased a SUPPOSEDLY never run .049 wen-mac MK-X. well never ran means that something went wrong. after removing the rear cover, wala.
looks like it made a single rotation before the piston connecting rod broke. evident by the almost complete circle on the rear cover. cant imagine what happened since the piston and crank both move smoothly.

not sure which MK series would be interchangeable but looking for help locating a replacement
any help would be appreciated
