I just recently purchased a Balsa USA Der Jager biplane off of Craigslist. I don't usually buy built airplanes because of my love of building myself, but at $300.00, a great build, a plane I always really liked, with a OS Max 300 twin in it.......I had to buy it! It had been sitting in this guy's garage for around 10 years and who knows how long before that (some guy gave it to him before that). I really just bought this for the engine, but the build was so good on it, it needed to hit the skies again! I removed over 2 pounds of baggage: 2 sub C 5 cell receiver packs, 2 separate switches, 1 sub C 4 cell glow driver pack....all 3 @ 2 lbs, some lead wrapped around the motor mount @ 6 ozs. & the 2 Dubro 5" air tires @1 lb! Between the new modern batteries & tires, I put back only 15 ozs. of weight. A savings of around 2 1/2 lbs! Total airframe ready to fly weighs in at only 23 lbs.

Just maidened it this week and what a great flyer. after a slight CG adjustment it flies on rails! That OS 300 twin really halls the mail & the sound is unbeatable in the air & on the ground. No ring ding, weedwacker flying by, sound for me. It's worth every penny I spend on glow fuel for the experience, and wiping it off after each flight........really isn't that hard! Oh yeah..........the nitro smell....................

DustOff #4 - Zeta Z84 FPV Race Wing - Will it handle a much larger LIPO?

#Ground Control RC #Glue & Fly Series #Scratch Build Planes

Here is a link to the Video:

The Z84 is a pretty nice Wing with a decent power system.
This version is the PNF that has a 2208 2600kv Motor, 30A ESC, and 5050 Prop.
I've found a 6040 Prop works much better than the stock 5050 Prop as it produces more thrust and is more efficient.

In this Flight I'm testing a new Landing Skid System and a much Larger LIPO.
I normally use these 3S 2200mah 25C LIPOs for my larger Planes but I'm using my smaller 3S LIPOs in the "Glue & Fly" Series F-22 Mini V3 today, so I hope this Wing can handle the 60-70 grams of additional weight ;-)

***Note the Setup & Tips Video for this Wing has already been posted.
Here is the link:

The KMP 6040 Composite Prop proved to provide a lot of thrust with good efficiency.
When I landed I still had 3.85v per cell ;-)
My new favorite Prop for this Wing.

***Note: I replaced the T-plug on mine with an XT60 Plug on the ESC

Yep Les Amis,
Petit Prix... Grosses Perfs !

Been flying the TAR out of my little GWS pico Tiger Moth and still with the Himax HC2212-1180 Brushless Outrunner without any issue or problems!

A little additional Kv so, I can fly my pico Tiger Moth with just 2-Cells and still have good power while swinging a GWS 8 X 6 prop. Performs it ALL including a loop from level flight and etc....etc.....

Just a super power system!

Okay, for those wondering:

Power System Setup:

Himax HC2212-1180 Brushless Outrunner
Castle Creations ThunderBird 9 AMP Brushless ESC
GWS Std Narrow Servos

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had my transmitter modified with pressure and vacuum switches that would enable me to use additional channels for flaps, gear or the trainer switch. After a year of trial and error with multiple switch manufacturers and switches that required different amounts of pressure and vacuum to actuate, I've given up on using those types of switches.

The problem with using those switches is moisture from blowing into the tube causes the inner workings to corrode and gum up after multiple uses. I've tried cleaning the switch internals with everything from warm soapy water to hydrogen peroxide to contact cleaner and that works, but only for a short time before they stop working again.

The partial solution I have found is a camera bite switch. $40 for the switch, a few bucks for an RCA jack and a few inches of wire to solder to the "I" switch on my DX9 and I have a simple, reliable way to operate the flaps on my Valiant 1.3 and 84" Turbo Bushmaster. Now to find a switching solution that will allow me to change the switch position without having to bite down the entire time I need to use it…

Well, I have definitely progressed since my last entry. I have built two quads, a bunch of Flight Test planes, got FPV going pretty well, and got my two kids and two neighbor kids into flying. Time remains the biggest challenge. Also my oldest son is very active and after about 5 minutes at the flying field he is ready to do something else. Those are a good 5 minutes though. The technology that we have today is amazing and it keeps getting better.

Got bobbles with your throttle? I'm sorry.😞
You can take care of that easily in a few minutes with better FPV throttle control & your own custom throttle curve!
Better altitude control, smoother videos, more fun, free checklist?!? C’Mon, let’s do this!🤩
Got experience with throttle curves? Let me know what you use 'em for and how they work for you! No experience? Give 'em a try!👍

One of three cl planes began flying with friends help. Wanting to complete some 1/2 a rc planes but among other demands I have to saw a bunch of logs for house and garage projects.before the cold weather. Would gladly trade some of the aircraft I have for help with firewood etc. but rather remote possibility.

Well here it is, an almost complete FT Edge! Just got a few more things left and it will ready for a maiden. In this last part of the build series I wanted to share some of my experiences along the way...especially the end result with using Titebond, some linkage/throw tips, and other things.

Been flying my ParkZone Snorting Bull P-47 Thunderbolt for the past two days and visiting my RC Club on the way to work

The model is spectacular and never disappoints plus, it lands dead stick with minimal UP Elevator input. However, I was shocked this morning as I found myself landing with the Flaps with 4 degrees in the UPWARD Position, I mean it performed almost a perfect three point landing with very scale effects!

There was one RC Club member (Milt Farrow) who witnessed the calamity

Anyone landed their P-47 with UPWARD Flaps?

A few pictures!

As of late i have found a new, well not totally new but a new love for me. I like gliders theirs something about them that i love, and i think its the lack of a power system. Totally gliding on air has to be the coolest thing.
Recently i attended a FPV event in Stephenstown, NY the event was NEFPV Feat meet. This year we had close to 75 pilots that showed u for one, two, three and four days for this event. I had converted large chuck glider to rc and it flew awesome! At the event they were passing out little chuck gliders, so i snatched a couple.
I wanted to make something different and i figured something easy not to complexed. So i mad a Groggen look alike out of the chuckie. It's very easy to do and take very little time and efford to convert and you will need basic tools and some aerocell foam strickly for the TE and possibly the vertical fin other than that some small lightweight items such as servos and power system are needed. Being that its small quad gear maybe the easiest to install, as i used 5.6g servos and my power system motor esc only weighed 23.8 grams, and the plane with servos install and cf spar came in at 43.2g .
Some pics of the build and power system just to show you what can be done. I will also add in photos f a swept wing version im working on also. Hope you guys like what can be done with any chuck glider. The blue one is the Baby...Continue Reading
