Hi everyone.

Now I’m partial here to balsa planes and just like the way they fly. My foam planes usually consists of planes like the E Flite timber and are fun. I did some research and wanted a 3D/ IMAC trainer.

Well I went to my local hobby store and picked up the Extra 300. The quality is nice and assembly was super fast. The longest part was waiting for the 5 min epoxy to dry on the rudder hinge and tail wheel.

I was most impressed with the superb flying characteristics. I would say it’s very close to my larger Hangar 9 Sbach 60. It will do the beginner IMAC schedule with no problem and more. Inverted flight is spot on and it tracks great. It has good power on a 3s 2200 mAh and much more power with the 4s set up, the 3300 mAh gives me more flight time (5-6min) and balances the plane well. There was no issues with the CG with either battery set up.

On the watt meter I got 800-1000 watts with 73-75 amps with the 13x6 prop and 60-62 amps with an APC 12x6, which I like better. Just a side note, two other members of my club have the same plane with a stock set up and they both got 73-75 amps with 1100 watts. So thinking it’s the C rating on the batteries.

I’ll be doing a video on the plane soon on my YouTube channel, RC Aldrin. So check that out I’ll put a link below. There’s a trailer for the extra, just a short teaser so to speak.

The DJI OSMO ACTION

In a rather leaked release that may surprise some and not so much others DJI, the worlds largest drone manufacturer have announced their latest product in the OSMO lineup, the OSMO Action.

The original OSMO launched in late 2015 and was DJI’s first move into ground based cameras with it being fitted with a version of the X3. Since then DJI have diversified the line with the OSMO Zoom as well as the Mobile versions for smartphones. In November 2018 DJI released the first major over hall of the line with the OSMO Pocket, this dramatically smaller version was entirely redesigned and improved in almost every way while still keeping the benefits of a stabilised gimbal camera system.

Today DJI have added an entirely new model to the OSMO line up. The OSMO Action is as much a side step as it is a step forward and takes them into the action camera market properly for the first time and in direct competition with GoPro, SJCam and Others.

Yep Les Amis,

Rainbow 600 Light Wing ( 93.3 grams Flying Weight ) (1 min 47 sec)

The wind was a PITA , in calm conditions I should be able to fly the Light 600 even slower .
Over all , I found it to be impressive ..
Still using the 300mAh battery for the 112mm CG ..
For Noobs that CG might be too far back .
It was twitchy , especially into the wind . But very flyable !
Everyone should have a wing !

Freewing L-39 Albatros 80mm EDF Jet Unboxing & Review (9 min 36 sec)

Here are the Pros & Cons for this 80mm EDF Jet:

Pros:
- It is a big EDF jet. Bigger than I anticipated.
- Nice Flaps
- Really bright LED lights
- Robust landing gear suspension & nice main wheels
- It has very nice battery option flexibility

Cons:
- The paint overspray is a con to me, but overall the paint is well done on this plane along with everything else.

Use low nitro fuel (5% is best IMO) and a hot glow plug with a long reach like he McCoy MC59. Adjust the idle needle for a slow reliable idle and the high speed needle for about 400-500rpm rich from peak. If the midrange is rich as is sometimes common with SuperTigre/Como Engines, you adjust the spraybar which is the two little screws on the side of the carb that holds the spraybar in. Adjust the spraybar in roughly ‘1-hour’ increments aiming the fuel inlet lower towards the engine mount. It is always best to start out with the spraybar “straight in”; with the carburetor removed from the engine, looking into the bottom of the carb, the “cats eye” should be visible and centered in the bore.

Many times, the fuel nipple will basically end up aiming at the rear mounting hole. Often I’ve found this is necessary until the engine has a couple gallons of fuel through it. It is not necessary to program the transmitter to open the throttle slower. Setting the carb properly will 99% of be time cure any midrange issues you may have. Setting a SuperTigre/Como carburetor like conventional 2-needle carburetors will likely make the idle/midrange lean because you are trying to make the idle needle do the work of the idle mixture and midrange (when the midrange is likely rich) and that isn’t how the carburetor is designed to be setup.
A rich engine will blubber and clear out usually (unless way too rich), a lean engine will hesitate or cut out....Continue Reading

Freewing just came out with a new 70mm F-35 Lightning II,

https://www.motionrc.com/products/fr...mm-edf-jet-arp

https://www.rc-castle.com/index.php?...ch&search=F-35

https://www.motionrc.eu/collections/...mm-edf-jet-arp

I ordered the Arf-plus version so will install my own power system

The wingspan is about the same as the old v1 and v2 versions which had thrust vectoring and was considerably lighter :

https://www.motionrc.com/products/fr...mm-edf-jet-pnp

A bunch of nice pictures have appeared here :

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/thum...one&starter=no

Since the wingspan on the model is 82cm, whereas the original has a wingspan of 10.7m (F-35A/B) :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockhe...5_Lightning_II

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_X-35

the scale is approximately 1: 13.0 or ~13-th scale.

I built this model in the mid 80's when I was in a Fall River, Mass. Model Boat club. It was a beautiful kit that may still show up for sale on occasion in eBay or even here in RC Groups. I have a very large amount of postings of my model Aircraft, Boats, and club activities in the Bristol County Radio Control Club of Dartmouth, Massachusetts. I could get more exposure here in RC Groups. I took it upon myself to support my club website. So here is a link to the Emma C. Berry model schooner with loads of supporting info and plans. I will post a few of the pictures here also to see what this famous vessel of an era of fishing and private sail. The vessel is now fully restored to it's original look from the year 1866 as a Noank fishing smack. It was a gaff rigged sloop those days. In 1933 it became a schooner until about 1947. Then it went back to it's origins as a gaff sloop again.

Note that if you look also into the index of BCRCC website under - Electric Planes you will find many more posts of my aircraft along with other subjects in all parts of the hobby.

Back from holiday and go some lovely weather for flying yesterday so went up to the park to give this R349 a go, a bit tentative flying because I'm not so used to this yet but once I do ....
Quick review, this is fast and fun and cheap, needed props changing from the 3028 to 3042 or 3052 and a bit of a tune up to fly how I like it, great on 3s or 4s, has good camera and is well under the 250g weight with batteries , flight time of 3 to 5 minutes depending on which battery I used.
More detailed review and pids to follow.
Buy it here ( affiliate link at no extra cost to you and helps me fund future reviews ) https://bit.ly/2WL9XDG
