More HOT HUMID weather forcing me to cower behind air-conditioning ( No I am not a summer person at all ) ...
So what to do ?
The parts were here to play with the DLG .. ( So thats what I did )

My DLG is ready for some chuck tests ...

First thing was to put a battery plug on the voltage booster .
Then test for shorts and adequate output voltage .
Then fit a servo plug with the signal wire removed .
Then I had to bind the 4ch Rx ..

With the Rx bound and the test servo working , it was time to plug the Rx into the servos in the DLG ..
Now with a 4Ch Rx , I had to mix 2 channels ( 2 and 3 ) to get the ailerons working correctly ..
This can be a little tricky with OpenTx , but I got there . ( So many ways to do it wrong )

Once the functions were correct , I limited servo travel so as not to over travel the control surfaces (?)
I might still have to much ... ( from mem 519 is max )
My ailerons are 200 and my elevator is 300 .. ( If you use Open Tx you probably understand )

Anyhow .. The DLG is at a starting point , CG is close ( a few mm forward of fact specs )
Wow , you really cant put much weight in the nose at all ... ( To make Factory specified CG )...Continue Reading

I've got some stick time under my belt with the Mini Contender and I discuss what I learned along with some changes I've made to the plane in this video. Just to give you incentive to watch, I talk about what happens when you mix ~125% high rates with 0 expo on a tiny plane--yes I did.

I also have a special request for RCG folks: If you regularly check my blog here, you'll see I generally get a couple thousand views per post. YouTube recently changed their rules for content creators to keep their partner status (i.e. ability to monetize their videos) to require a certain amount of watch time and 1000 subscribers. My channel gets the watch time, but I need some help on the subscribers.

Please feel free to check my posts here and watch some of my videos. You'll quickly see that I do my best to provide useful information. I keep my stuff G-rated and I try to help people. I doubt I'll ever make much $$ with my work, but any money I can make will be used for content I'll post here and on YT.

So, if you regularly check my blog here and watch my YT videos, I'd definitely appreciate a sub. If 1/4th of the viewers from most of my RCG blog posts subb'ed I'd be over the hurdle in a day. Thanks in advance for your support.

Here's the video:

Eagle Eye-30IE-360 30X EO/IR Dual Sensor Drone Zoom Camera With 360 Degree Rotation (2 min 42 sec)

Eagle Eye-30IE-360 is the new version of Eagle Eye-30IE,there are 2 features for this new 30X EO/IR zoom camera:the first one is its 360 degree rotation, that means the gimbal has unlimited Yaw angle, which is very useful in missions like security and surveillance.Imagine you are tracking a fast moving target, the tracking will possibly be lost if the gimbal reaches its Yaw angle limit. With the 360 rotation gimbal, this problem will no longer exist. The second feature for Eagle Eye-30IE-360 is that it is equipped with an Ethernet video out.In this case,IP video downlink can be used for video transmission.Anyway,if it happens that an HDMIvideo downlink is needed, then no problem, the gimbal comes with an IP over HDMI converter board.

There will be 2 modes for video out and video recored.
Mode 1:1080P 60FPS video out plus 640*480 video recorded.Mode 2:640*480 video out plus 1080P 60FPS video recorded

Features
1) Weight:1200grams(cameras included)
2) 1/2.8 inch 2.13MP CMOS sensor

I have been thinking about a cool new project.

I will attempt to etch an acrylic sign with my CNC machine. I want to try making one with LED's. Something like this.

I am not as experienced with using programmable transmitters as I am sure some RCGroups members are, but I will attempt to provide some input on the Kingkong Ldarc Tiny Tx. This transmitter was sent to me by Banggood, ordered December 28, 2018, shipped January 13, 2018,
and received January 18, 2018. The box mine was sent in was crushed in one corner, but the transmitter does not seem to be harmed by the rough handling.
I would not call this transmitter tiny but it is small. It is 160mm wide by 95mm tall by 40mm thick. The sticks are 90mm apart and 19mm tall. It weighs about 230 grams. The battery is a 1S 600mah lipo with a molex connector. It has to be removed to charge it. There is no charge cord or USB cable included in the package. There are two manuals, one for the transmitter and one for the included receiver. The manuals do not seem very clear or thorough for usage instructions.
I first tried the Tiny Tx with my XK x100 quad. It was easy to bind, just turn on the transmitter, plug the battery into the quad, and push the bind button. Did not take long at all. But the quad went full throttle immediately. Turns out the throttle switch needed to be in reverse position, as did the elevator switch. I got the quad to fly a little, and it seemed to do well, but would not stay bound for long, strictly a problem with the quad.
I then got the Tx to bind with my XK X252 using the same procedure. Throttle and elevator still had to be reversed. Took...Continue Reading

A few construction pictures and inside pictures.
I replaced the cast resin Search light with a working more durable scratch built one of brass & aluminum.
The scratch built captain chairs are not part of Dumas kit.
The model weighs 7.4 pounds

Rough day yesterday. Went down to the basement, my hangar which I never bother to clean, lots of electronics accumulated over the few years, some not cheap, some not cheap and never used, strewn about the floor... Flooded.

Called the landlady and her husband, sort of the shadow landlord who I think bought the place to give his wife something to do, then launched a search and rescue mission to get anything on the higher, dry patches of floor to safer ground, then combed the water to fish out electronics. Ouch, a receiver, ouch, flight controllers, ouch all my reels of LEDs, ouch a bunch of ESCs including a reversible Tundra esc, ouch this ouch that, DAMN a Talon 90!? Oh c'mon, not that.

Talon friggin' 90 *and* its Castle ESC programming card.

I'll try my luck with isopropyl alcohol, the finest in all of CVS, though the water spared the planes and all my charging stuff as were all the things I needed to continue to fly. Well, at least the water was clean and warm, not poopy water.

There's got to be a lesson for me to learn from this...

On the bright side, the basement is considerably cleaner now.

Yep Les Amis,
