A gorgeous 84" ship not yet flown. Just recently up to date and ready for the right day. Polyhedral plug-in wings, T-tail with new elliptical stabilizer. Heavier wing loading @ 14 oz/sqft but very powerful 910Kv motor on 4s pack turning 12x6 folder. 650W to pull 3.7lbs or so. Should be a blast!

Awesome on slopes with solid breeze.

Just finished electrifying this. Should be very fast with excellent vertical performance. Flew it a lot on slope in Los Banos and it was a terrific ship to fly. My hope is that converting to electric will expand where I can enjoy this airplane.

Brushed 280 with 800mAH LiPo. Flies nicely and others love to have a try!

So. Much. Fun! This thing rides the smallest ridge lift with a 3.7 oz/sqft wing loading. Very sensitive to CG but easy short DLG launch.

Powered by an ExceedRC Monster 60 w/6s 6000mAh, this big plane is just a pure joy to fly. Big 96" wingspan, slow and super stable. Older picture below at Los Banos.

This plane is nuts. Blinding fast rolls and thick wing makes very slow flying easy. Can't remember where it came from but it was a pre-covered sorta ARF.

This is a Great Planes PT-Electric from an old kit (egad, it was die-cut!!). Ailerons and flaps added along with reduced dihedral. Just about ready to fly!

The picture accompanying this entry represents a long story but briefly it shows my Dad and I and K. Leroy Irvis (at Aero Radio Control Society, Pittsburgh, PA) standing with one of the 2 modified Yankee Soars my Dad and I built. I was 10 or so but had been a shop hand for several years. The bottom picture is me with that very same Yankee Soar just before successfully slope soaring it at Los Banos Reservoir. The Yankee Soar by Neil Liptak was introduced in 1971. The top image is around 1972 and the bottom image 2006.

This plane is a fun one to fly - very sedate and forgiving. It is probably overpowered with an E-Flite 370 and it does tend to balloon with increased throttle. You might be able to see the serious downthrust position of the motor. What you cannot see is a popsicle stick under the rear of the wing to slightly decrease angle of attack. You might notice the repaired front end - this was a result of attempting to mix down elevator with increased throttle. Turns out mix was not properly implemented or tested...

This is my 2nd Oly II. The first was an Airtronics kit while this kit is one of the fantastic laser-cut kits from SkyBench AeroTech. While I have other gliders I cannot imagine not having one of these in the hangar. Next Oly to build will be the Oly III with a 132" Wingspan. Maybe for Xmas?

Being from the East Coast I am used to having a basement shop. Here in California we have dedicated 1 bay of a 3-car garage and the whole garage ceiling to RC Planes. Then we put in a pool table and no room for cars. So did the only sensible thing - expanded the driveway!
