This is what I managed in our recent Western province and South African masters championships. I flew in the Advanced class and when our new season starts in January I'll be flying in the Masters class. (one level below F3A). I competed with my Mythos 125e. On the Saturday we could only fly two rounds because of the strong winds (35 kilometers per hour) after which I was lying in first position. 👍 😁

Hi all, I'm just posting some pictures of our pattern nationals we had last Saturday and Sunday. It was a great event with pilots traveling from various provinces to compete. A friend of mine and myself sent our crated aircraft by road a week before the event. Fortunately they arrived safely. We flew up to Johannesburg and drove about an hour to Henley on klip where the contest took place. The flying field is privately owned and absolutely fantastic.!
Enjoy the pictures....Continue Reading

I have done a lot of pattern flying in my life and also a lot of calling lately. I decided that seeing I'm at most of our local competitions calling I may just as well compete. Got a good deal on a Sebart MythoS 125e nib with hacker A60, all HV servos and a castle creations talon 90 ESC. I completed about 2 weeks ago and initial flights were OK but the castle ESC was not up to the job. Motor ran noisy and did not sound great. I've now fitted a Master spin 99 pro opto and it works perfectly. .
I get through the advanced schedule in 7 min with 20+% capacity left in the 6S 5000 mA hacker battery.
Sunday is the first competition that I'm competing in for many years.

I can't wait.

Hi All, these pictures are from 1995. The Diabolo is from an original pilot wood kit. The cowl and spats I molded from glass fibre because the original parts were made from ABS. The wing spars and vertical Web were reinforced with UD carbon. I also strengthened the plywood engine mounting. Engine was a 3W60 and was fitted with a smoke system. I flew this aircraft for about 10 years till a radio/ failsafe condition destroyed it. The Diabolo was a great flying aircraft.
The other picture is of my old Safir Plus pattern aircraft. The Plus was because I lengthened the fuselage. The Safir was powered by a Hanno special with an OS pipe. Propellors used were APC 12 X 12 and 12 X 11.

That is Table Mountain in the background.

When you have to solder thin wire to a deans plug drill 1.5mm holes in the solder tag to improve solder and mechanical connection.

Fly safe.

I have scanned the Antic Bipe construction manual. It is too big to load here.

If you want it mailed to you just send me your email address.

Fly safe.

Hi All, I recently decided to revive an old Saito Family 120 and the aircraft it was in. The engine was very dirty but had no physical damage. After cleaning and stripping I rebuilt the engine with new ntn bearings using a fully sealed one in the front with the rear seal removed. I managed to find a new piston ring and valves as well. I was unable to find a gasket set so had to cut my own. The needle valve was not in great condition but works. The exhaust had no silencer just a straight pipe and was a bit loud.
I did a bench run of the engine and it runs just fine.
I then decided to fit a new needle valve but could not find one so I bought one for a later 120.
I did not want the needle valve to stick through the top of the fuselage and wanted a remote needle valve but had no luck with that either. I then decided to make my own the only problem was finding a fuel fitting for the carb (5mm x 0.5mm pitch) so made my own parts on my mini lathe.
I have again run the engine with my remote needle valve and it works just great. I also then made a velocity stack and removed the choke at the same time and on the bench run got 9330rpm on an APC 15 x 8. I have subsequently also made my own silencer but have not test run with it yet. Silencer was also an issue with the thread size or 14 mm x 1mm pitch so had to cut my own. I will post some pictures of the work I did. Any questions welcome.

Hi, at last I've got all my XPS receivers stored in one container. Now no more hunting in my workshop for them as they are all in place.
Have a great easter weekend and I hope you all get to have at least one day of flying, I definitely will.

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend of flying. I definitely did. I took the Antic bipe out today to Wild Clover farm (SMAA field) today. It's a fantastic place to fly. It has 2 nice long grass runways with lots of open space to fly. You can Google it and see for yourselves.
The Antic flew just flawlessly and it was nice to fly off grass for a change. My Antic has now flown in its 41St year since I built and flew it.
Fly safe and have a great week.

Hi, it was the first flight of my mini Magnum with the westonUK west36V1 today. Was a bit scary but did go super fast. I'm quite happy it has flown at last.

Hi all, has anyone by chance have a wood list for the Gary Allen 1/3 scale Bucker Jungmeister?
It would be a great help.

Many thanks
