DVR Link

FPV camera Link ( Eachine Tx06 )

Ok , been testing this camera , but I had no way of directly recording the stream , until now ( I hope ) ..

Just need to check the camera outputs , make sure they match the DVR inputs ..
And hopefully I can do a little video recording ..
DVR = I dont know - YET !
Eachine XT06 FPV camera , so far it's very nice ! A am impressed .
And it was on sale recently , making it a very good buy . ( For the $ )
So hopefully I will have a review ( soon ) on both these , as it looks like they may make for a very nice pair !

E012 - No bind , 3 or 4 attempts and nothing !
So it might mean the fault lies with the flight control board ..
Oh well ! Stuff happens some times ...

Progress has been somewhat erratic.

After a lot of googling and eBay searching I found a local store, and they had ONE motor mount left. Since I already realised that a bent aluminium plate would not be sufficient - the Revo chassis tab can easily be flexed by hand and any motor mount that does not use the “arms” connected to the central part will move and vary the mesh - I decided to buy one.

Now I have embarked on a motor/ESC combo search. A Hobbywing EZRun combo is currently on top, but the $150 is slightly hard to stomach for this budget ride. But it is also an LHS option which IMHO could be more valuable than cutting $20 off the price. Until I press buy what remains is just classic overhaul action.

Picture show diffs being torn down.

DustOff #3 - Converted EPP 48cm Chuck Glider & Crash!

Here is a link to the Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgCZpo8RLG4

Well, I went out with (3) aircraft in this flight session and the Converted Chuck Glider is the only one I flew because the wind was at 6-9mph when I started and 8-11mph by the time I finished.
I flew only the Chuck Glider because the EPP Foam is so durable as you will soon see and I have (2) more of these airframes ;-)
Let's get it into the Stiff Air!

Hi, we are a group of university students (IT - computer engineering) who are working on a collaboration project called WikDrone https://www.wikdrone.com

It is a social network dedicated to the drones world. The idea is to create a database so that we can all freely value our drones and accessories and share our experience with the community.

If you like the project and want to lend a hand, it would be very helpful. What do you think of the idea? Do you have any suggestions? Something to change, add or improve? Do you like the initiative? Thank you very much for your help, we have worked hard on it, we hope you like it.

Regards,

PD: We are improving the mobile adaptation (mobile application), meanwhile, if you can access WikDrone with a PC, tablet or large screen device, the experience will be much better....Continue Reading

I decided to write up a PROCESS for Landing RC Model Aircraft more successfully.....
Mind you, variables in flight still make the task X amount more difficult - those can be wind/environment AND pilot SKILL (!!) plus visual errors which can create bad AIMS (as your data input is then X amount incorrect)....... but you want the SIMPLEST, repeatable, reliable, process possible!!

So this outline below is what I do to make it all as easy as possible......

As part of a build challenge that I participated in on the FT forums, I picked out the FT Bloody Baron as one of my next builds. So here is the intro video to the FT Bloody Baron. The Bloody Baron is a Dan Sponholz design which Dan is one of the main guys who helps with Flitetest downloadable plans. The plane looks like a lot of fun and gets all sorts of praises...so can't wait to try it out!

In 1080p 60fps - Here is the raw uncut footage of the Maiden Flight of my new Eflite Pitts S-1S 850mm BNF Basic.

Eflite Pitts S-1S 850mm BNF Basic Maiden Flight (6 min 20 sec)

My Eflite Pitts S-1S 850mm BNF Basic has only 2 modifications from stock. I upgraded the stock 11x7 prop which weighed 27 grams, in favor of a much lighter 18-gram Xoar PJN 11x7 Beechwood prop. Secondly, the entire airframe has been coated with 2 applications of Minwax Semi-Gloss Polycrylic.

Powered by a Pulse 4S 2250mAh 45C lipo, weighing in at 240 grams. Following the advice of RCG members, the CG was set to 70mm from the leading edge of the top wing, with the front of my 4S lipo battery lined up to the front edge of the battery tray. This CG location felt just right for this initial flight. Flight Timer was set to 4:00 minutes. Flown with a Spektrum DX8 G2 Transmitter. Control surface linkages were setup according to manual. The rates I used were as follows:

Aileron: 85% with 28% Expo
Elevator: 100% with 15% Expo
Rudder: 95% with 15% Expo

Note: With these initial settings my Eflite Pitts felt very responsive to the point of being twitchy (especially the Rudder), but was still manageable. Additional tuning will be needed for my flight preferences.

An interesting thing to note is that I've actually had my Eflite Pitts S-1S unassembled in pieces in my hangar since October of 2018. I had just about completed the polycrylic coating process, up until the fuselage. Of course life happened...Continue Reading

Tried getting 5A out of it by installing a fatter power cord with direct soldering. It still maxed out at 4.2A. The reason is the maximum power is 50W. Looking at the Ruideng showed the power maxing out at 55W. The same charger is marketed as 50W - 90W, depending on the seller.

Having run the Ruidengs at 5A so many times to test halogen lights, inverters, & battery chargers, it was definitely worth getting the 5A version instead of the 3A, though the bluetooth & USB options were worthless. The heatsink with no fan hits 41C at 50W. It's also proven useful to have the full Watt indicator of the default firmware instead of flashing minimal firmware on it.

This is my first official attempt to fly the E-flite Pitts S-1S RC Biplane off of grass. So far, it has been hard to land on pavement, so I decided to try different terrain with this plane and my 4S Scorpion 1800 Lipo. I also flew it with my 3S Scorpion 1800 Lipo earlier in the day, but I likely won’t upload that video for another week or so.

E-flite Pitts S-1S RC Biplane Flight Off Grass With 4S Scorpion 1800 (4 min 3 sec)

Here are the pros and cons for this Parkflyer 850mm Pitts:

Pros
- It is beautiful
- It flies well on 3 or 4S power
- The size is terrific for easy transport
- As see in this video, it can fly off or grass or pavement
- It comes with AS3X and SAFE Select
- The tail wheel is very solid
- The battery bay slides out, which is a pretty cool, but it does have its downsides (see below)

Cons
- It likes to land hot and bounce on pavement!
- The ailerons are very touchy (58% D/R is best for me and this plane)
- Getting the battery tray in and out of it scuffs the back of the main wing
- The build has some quirks and the manual does not match up completely with the parts and pieces, especially as it applies to the prop assembly.
- Assembling the main wing took way too long, but it wasn't the end of the world.
- It has been reported in the manual the recommended CG is farther back than it should be. 86 to 70mm is the recommended CG range.
- The main landing gets bent very easy!

Adupilot is heavily dependent on GPS for accurate position information. It uses position information for all the various modes that set it apart from other flight controllers. Auto missions, loiter, position hold, follow me etc etc all require a great GPS lock to function. Ardupilot has made great strides in recent years by implementing dual GPS capability and allowing the evaluation of the GPS signal quality and switching to the best GPS or blending the data from the two GPS. It brings greater reliability to Ardupilot.

In my first FrankenSolo I used a UC4H GPS node to convert a Here GPS to UAVCAN. This conversion caused the Here GPS to send out UAVCAN messages with GPS information to the CANbus. In the second generation UC4H OlliW has implemented a new message type that is a tunnel to send serial data to the Pixhawk. The new message has raw serial data as a payload and allows any serial device to create a tunnel to deliver that data to the Pixhawk without creating special UAVCAN messages for every serial device. So I am replacing my old UAVCAN node with a new gerneral purpose node with the GPS/MAG/Baro firmware. The GPS data uses a serial_TUNL to get its data to the Pixhawk and the compass and or barometer send their data through normal UAVCAN messages.

There is also a general purpose node firmware to provide nothing but serial tunnels. The firmware is called the UART Bridge is used to provide extra serial ports to the Pixhawk from about any serial device.

I then...Continue Reading

This will be a summarised build blog of Frank Knapps Li’l cub. Peter Miller had posted a prototype build of the model on modelflying.co.uk forum as a precursor to appearing as a free plan and article in a future edition of RCM&E magazine. Peter had kindly sent me a copy of his original hand drawings, sketches and some build notes, and will be using those as a basis for the No 2 protoytype build.

The plan is for an electric powered 55in span model around 1:6.5 scale and 3 Lbs AUW. It’s and all wood build.

The Knapp original is a heavily modded Cub J3, stripped to bare essentials, lots of carbon fibre , new STOL wing with flaps and leading edge slats. In 2017 the aircraft set a new STOL world record at Valdez, with a take off in 13 feet 8 inches, and a landing in 10 feet 5 inches. A reputed top speed of 62mph with its large low pitch prop to maximise take off thrust.
