I was asked how to duplicate this DX6i mix for the 3-channel HobbyZone Champ (pic below),
which duplicates "steering" onto the left stick ( Mode 2), but on the
DX9 and with UP elevator also mixed to aileron
Note: The following assumes none of the Champ's channels are reversed out of the box. Just going from memory, I don't think any are. I did this DX9 setup just using the radio's servo monitor screens, I didn't actually have my Champ bound to it.
Go into MIXING on your model's
Function List. We want RUD to be the master because we want the aileron channel (which is what the 3-channel Champ's rudder is actually plugged into) to follow the radio's left stick rudder commands or RUD channel (assuming a mode 2 radio).
There is a default mix already there called RUD > AIL/ELE... go into it.
In the RUD > AIL: mix, set both values (two because you can set left & right separately, we want both) to 100%. Set Switch to ON if you want this mix to always be on. Or you can set this mix to one of your switches, but I can't think of a reason why you would want to.
I suggest not doing your UP elevator mix here (if you want one) using it on the rudder because you'll probably want that mix on your aileron channel instead which is what you'll still be using for steering in flight, This RUD > AIL mix is mostly for practicing, getting used to or maintaining the habit of steering with left stick rudder while still on the ground with 4-channel planes (you can'
